Waterfront home on Smith Mountain Lake with private dock.
2 living rooms, one with pull out queen size sofa,2 fireplaces, deck, screened porch, garage, master bedroom has queen size bed and attached bath with jacuzzi.

Two single bedrooms have full size beds. Spare bedroom has two twin beds. Both living rooms, dining room, and all but 1 single bedroom have views of the lake. Air conditioned, the house has a laundry room. Decks overlooking the lakes , a hammock and a new propane barbecue complete the enjoyment.
3 TVs with high end cable packages. Wifi.

Relaxing and Nostalgic

First and foremost, if you are looking (for the most part) for some late 1980s-mid 1990s technology and decor, on a great piece of relaxing lakefront property... this is a gold mine. Honestly, being Gen X my wife, my mother-in-law (and her friend) and I enjoyed the nostalgia and watching our teenagers struggle with transitor televisions and VHS. I say that in jest. We really did have an excellent time there. The bad: Musky/damp smell on the lower floor (Damp-rid does wonders). For the most part very clean and organized, but did find a few areas that needed better attention by the cleaning crew (but easily remedied). Access to the waterfront is extremely difficult (if not impossible) for elderly requiring assistance and those that have mobility disabilities (of which we had both in our party)... we knew about this prior to renting and rented regardless because we had alternative plans to get them to the water. The neutral: Its an older house with older appliances... it requires a little TLC... but everything works very well considering its age. The listing says hottub and jacuzzi tub; its just a jacuzzi tub in the master bath, and it works great, is refreshing and fits 2. The good: It is a very relaxing property, with kind neighbors and an outstanding price. Kitchen is well stocked. Very close to local attractions. The dock has plenty of room for a pontoon boat. Contrary to other reviews, Craig is very responsive. Overall would stay again 8.25 out of 10.

Renters Beware – Mold EverywhereWe’re pretty low maintenance, but nothing prepared us for this experience.We arrived around 5 PM to find the cleaning lady still at the house, saying she was just finishing up. She kindly left one roll of toilet paper —because the house didn’t have any. As we began unpacking for our week-long stay, it became clear this place was filthy. Bugs, spiders, mouse poop everywhere. We immediately drove to the new Dollar General down the road to buy cleaning supplies just to feel comfortable letting our 11-month-old crawl around.After two hours of vacuuming and wiping everything down, the upstairs finally felt somewhat safe. The rest of the house? Not so much. The entire place had a strong, musty odor. It was so damp that towels never dried, and nearly every piece of furniture was covered in mold. The downstairs furniture was completely unusable — no one in our group could even sleep down there. I have photos that clearly show the mold.A few days in, we all started getting sore throats, runny noses — likely from the poor air quality. We reached out to the host to discuss the issues, and wow.the host became irate, combative, and even called me a liar. the soffit in the back is rotting off, and there are multiple water stains clearly just painted over. We’ve since contacted VRBO to report the property and request an inspection. I feel genuinely sorry for anyone else with a reservation here.If I had to describe the house in one word? Dilapidated.

House needs work

It had the occupancy we needed but the basement was very cold and damp and had a musty smell to it. Furniture is very dated and the upstairs found smelled as well. Upstairs cushions on couch were filthy. Had 2 leaky ceiling areas and light bulbs out in three location.

Comfortable and spacious house, good location

We have stayed in this property in the past and find it comfortable and spacious. Although not updated in the sense that other, much more expensive properties are, it is well equipped and allows plenty of room for larger families while being suitable for a couple like my husband and me, since there is a spacious master suite on the main level. It has a huge bathroom with whirlpool tub, separate shower and double sinks, as well as a walk-in closet, and quality furniture with plenty of drawer space. The kitchen is large and well stocked with up-to-date appliances, good cooking equipment, and plenty of cabinet space. A large dining table and screened porch with table and chairs allow plenty of room for either intimate dining or larger groups. There is a garage available to guests plus driveway parking. A large deck and easy access to the dock are another plus.

Lots of space - Poorly maintained

The house is very roomy with lots of space and good sized bedrooms. The location and beach were nice, very private area without boat traffic. Note that the beds are a bit hard and you might want a topper/foam cushion to help. We had a number of problems that the owner was not very responsive to fixing - specifically the internet wi-fi never worked - the dishwasher leaked so we put a bowl under the front edge to prevent from flooding the floor - there were a number of fixtures that needed bulbs thus is was a bit dark in the house - the dock is poorly maintained but the floater is OK for getting a boat to - not sure why but we seemed to run out of hot water too soon - we talked to the owner about a lot of these problems but we didn't see or get any of the problems taken care of during our week at the house - I don't know what is planned for the future.

Pretty much have your own side of a cove, not bad of a walk to the dock. House is roomy, I Would definitely stay there again

Cost friendly quiet house with kid friendly beach and mellow cove

As listed. Its an older house with older things, but at half the cost of houses with "upgraded" ammenities, its a perfect family friendly place to relax and enjoy all the lake has to offer. Ver nice grill with full garage available.for parking or storage. Lovely dock with beach and swimming area protected by cove. Great living room with lots of seating and a big family table for meals together. Booking again for next year already!

Very good vacation

Very good location. Steep walk to the lake which me knew when we booked it. Very mothball smelling. Had to wash even clean clothes once I got home to get that smell out. House was larger than we thought. Lots of room.

The house was great!!

The house is much bigger than the pictures reflect. We have been renting houses at the lake for the past 10 years. This was the most comfortable by far. The two living rooms worked well to give the younger people their own space. We will rent this property again!

Great Vacation

We had a great stay! We really enjoyed the week. We spent a lot of time on the screened in porch. It was very nice and quite relaxing. The location was good, a perfect place to swim and lounge in the water. We loved all of the beautiful furniture in the house and on the screened deck.

Great Location Very Dated

The Good: We really enjoyed the location of this property. It's in a quiet cove with plenty of space for things like pulling a tube and learning to drive a jet ski. We booked over Labor Day Weekend, one of the busiest weekends, and the cove/area we were in was very quiet. There are two marinas close by (Parkway and Mitchell's Point) where you can rent boats or get gas etc. The house was very clean and all appliances worked despite some of them being decades old. Stepping foot in the house really was like walking back in time. The water was hot and the pressure was great. The little beach area was super useful for landing our kayak. The Not So Good: The first thing you are met with his the smell of moth balls. I'm assuming that was to keep snakes away seeing as they were spread out around the outside of the house. The bed in the master bedroom was rock hard. The internet is fed by satellite and not very fast however if you have Verizon you get LTE and can hotspot your phone. Overall we really enjoyed the area the house was in. Some updated appliances, bedding and internet would go a long way. If you are looking for a great area and a quiet cove close to marinas and don't care about an updated, fancy house, this place is great!

Great Potential

This house has a beautiful location on a cove, but long lake views. The screen porch was a favorite location. This was a last minute vacation, so choices were limited. The price was very low, compared to other lakefront homes. As a VRBO property owner, myself, I take great pride in my property and am constantly improving it. This house though, doesn't look like it's been touched in 20 years. Old decor, appliances, chipped up shower, etc. I looked at it and thought what I would do to change it. I watch too much HGTV. The main problem is that the lower level is very musty. We didn't have anybody staying down there, as it was just the two of us, but itis noticable.

Family Vacation 2020

Beautiful property, well situated on the lake so that everything was close enough. Marina directly across the lake with fuel and boat rentals. (Mitchell's Point marina), Easy access to great fishing spots on the lake. BY FAST ONE OF THE BEST VACATIONS WEHAVE HAD. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY

Family Vacation 7/13-7/19/2019

This was the second year that I have rented this property for our family vacation. The house is very clean and comfortable. Plenty of room for the family and kids to enjoy. Kitchen was fully stocked with appliances, dishes, pots and pans and many extras. Very pleased with home and owner. Easy access to get to lake and boat dock is an added bonus. Screened in porch was great to keep bugs away. Enjoyed our stay very much and look forward to going again.

Nice spot

This property was even better than we thought it would be. We have a boat and two jet skis. Everything fit well around the dock and the side of the lake it is on was generally more calm then the other places we've stayed before. Also the house was much bigger than we thought it would be. Only negative was sheets and towels are not provided so we had to make a run to dollar general, but not too bad.

Great times to be had!

What a great home/property! No complaints at all. Very clean, well-stocked kitchen. We had no problems with any dampness/cooling issues in basement. Ideal place for family vacation, especially if you have a boat. Nice pier in quiet cove to dock boat, or simply lounge on/swim from. The only thing we found that we didn't like were many ticks in the yard... not the owner's fault :) Liked it so much, we're coming back again this year.

Nice home, but cold/damp lower level.

First impressions were great. Super clean, well-stocked kitchen, comfortable furnishings, but lower level (3 bedrooms and sitting area) was cold and damp (so damp even swim suits and towels wouldn't dry overnight). Needs at least a dehumidifier and/or separate AC for upper and lower levels. Quiet private cove was great for swimming/boating. We were hoping this would be our go-to summer rental, but sadly, lower level was too uncomfortable.

People that I had worked with told me about Smith Mountain Lake, a clean, deep lake with great Bass fishing. I went on the usual real estate agent tour, saw swampland, dense forest homes and steep precipice properties. When I saw this house, I had to buy it.

Located on a quiet gravel road, a nice comfortable brick house overlooking the water, enough slope to give views but not so steep to require ropes. Each lot on the road is private enough to enjoy the tranquility of the lake.

I like to enjoy the views at breakfast, boat and swim and fish throughout the day, barbeque, enjoy dinner with a lakefront view and finally, hang out with the wife on the screened in porch or watch a movie on DirectV.
