About Gail and David Wailes

David has loved Lake Chelan since he was a young boy, visiting his Aunt an Uncle's cabin up on the Little Butte. He is a builder and bought the Lake house in 2007 with the hope of building the property into an even more grand and lovely place, and at the same time enjoying it while living there. He continues to work his magic and is always making some part of the property more beautiful. In 2008 Gail came along and ever since we have been going back and forth from Redmond WA. where we married in Aug. of 2010. Every season has it's loveliness and we are there as much as possible. We love to take our boat out in the summer months for excursions to Chelan, Wapato or Manson and especially for a cocktail cruise just before sunset. We enjoy walking our dog Sasha up to Fields Point Landing and always meet other dog walkers along the way. We hope that like us you enjoy all that Lake Chelan has to offer and you want to keep coming back too.

Thank you

Clean and roomy

  • 4 of 5

The house and property was very clean. I was thankful for the large home since The smoke from fires was serious enough to keep grandkids inside a few days. When we did get out, they loved swimming and fishing from the dock. I would recommend the air filter on the air conditioner be replaced and the handrails down to dock be tightened for us old folks with bad knees.

Summer vacation with the boys

  • 4 of 5

The property was perfect for our stay and works well for close family and friends to get away. The house is also pet friendly which was a must for us. The boys loved having the lower part of the house to themselves along with a separate deck. The upper deck works well for having dinner and BBQ's while enjoying the views.

The dock came in handy when we rented a boat for two of the days we stayed and the diving board was a big hit with the boys. Overall the experience was great.

A Great Week on the Lake!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great house for large groups that want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Chelan and be right on the lake. This was our second year returning to this house for our annual Chelan family reunion and we had another great time! The views are amazing!

The house is comfortable and able to accommodate large groups. There is a large table on the upper deck where we had all our dinners together. The kitchen is quite small, no more than 2-3 people in it at a time; but it is fully stocked. There was plenty of plates, cups, silverware, pots/pans/serving bowls, bathroom towels and extra blankets and pillows available. The upstairs bedrooms get a little warm, so we tried to keep the doors open as much as possible (there is an a/c unit in the main living area upstairs). Outside, the hot tub was great, there are multiple decks and grassy areas for sitting and enjoying the sun and the view (lots of chairs available to use), and the private dock, diving board, and waterfront/swimming area were wonderful. We brought our boat and had no trouble with the dock or anchoring to the buoy overnight.

The waterfront lawn and large swimming area are where we spent most of our days, when we weren’t out on the boat. We also brought a large inflatable ‘floating island’ that we were able to tie off to a buoy in the swimming area. There is no beach, and the swimming area is best for older kids – our group was adults and teenagers and it was perfect for us. And beware, there are a lot of stairs from the house to the lake. Our elderly parents did make the trek down the stairs to the waterfront using the handrails and with assistance.

We love the location of this house. Very private, quiet, and up-lake enough to get away from a lot of the boat traffic. The owners have been great to work with and very accommodating. We will be back!

Great Vacation Home

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful family reunion at this lakeside home. We had twelve persons, seven adults and five children, ages 7 - 15. The house accommodated this number very well, with beds for all. We initially planned to have fourteen persons but the older grandsons got jobs and could not come. We could have managed with the fourteen but it would have pushed us for comfort and privacy, with some sleeping on couches. There is unevenness in bed comfort.

On the whole we had a wonderful week. The setting is absolutely beautiful. Big tables on the deck and inside the house allowed us to eat together no matter what the weather. The kitchen is well equipped but a bit tight for more than two persons preparing food.

The children caught fish from the shore at the lower level but found the water difficult to swim in because of the rocks. We drove down to the state park to find good swimming and a sandy beach. There were great trails for running and hiking at the end of the road.

There were a few expectations that weren't met but nothing that mattered much. Wifi was the primary thing that people missed and cellular service was weak. The Wailes were helpful and responsive to questions, more than meeting our expectations from the landlord.

If one is looking for a place to sit in comfort and beauty with breathtaking vistas in every direction, and space for ten to twelve people to experience privacy or group activities, this is the ideal spot.

Amazing house with views that WILL NOT disappoint!

  • 5 of 5

What a perfectly wonderful house for any time of the year! Upon arriving I was happy to see that the house address with last name was well marked at the road, which made getting down to the house a breeze. As I entered the front door the first thing that caught my eye was the amazing views that gave a full view of the entire lake. The two decks attached to the house are amazing and had everything needed to take in the view for hours on end, including very comfy chairs.

The house was well equipped with literally everything you would ever need, including an extra propane tank that came in handy when the first tank ran out. The kitchen accessories were well suited for all the cooking we did that weekend.

The landscaping and dock was also very impressive. There are numerous little sitting areas around the property that allowed you to view different parts of the lake with ease. There is a bouy with the last name, so it made anchoring the boat we brought a flawless task.

There was more than ample sleeping room for our group and the beds eeee VERY comfortable and had all the blankets and pillows needed, which sleeping even more comfortable.

Overall we loved the place, and I’ve already referred a friend to the same property for a trip they were planning.

10-12 People... Totally worth it

  • 5 of 5

It's not the fanciest of cabin's, but if you're just looking for a great location and comfortable spot to crash, this is you cabin (assuming you're a pretty big part).

Owners are very hospitable, and we did not have any issues during the reservation process or during our stay.
