Waterfront retreat only 1 hour 15 minutes drive from the center of Washington, DC near historic Solomons Island, Maryland, where the Chesapeake Bay meets the Patuxent River. Enjoy spectacular views from nearly every room of the beautifully-renovated historic farmhouse on a seven-acre estate on the water. Sip lemonade from rocking chairs on the porch and soak in the gorgeous sunsets over Patuxent River, fall asleep in the hammock, or tuck yourself away with a book anywhere on the grounds surrounded by the water. Do not be alarmed by the plentiful deer, turtles, rabbits, ducks, bald eagles, ospreys, and other small wildlife that may pay you a quiet visit. Swim at the small private beach, fish and crab, enjoy boating/sailing/kayaking and all sorts of water sports, take a walk along the many public beaches, boardwalks, marinas and nature trails in the area. Admire the historic tobacco barns and organic farms, visit farmers markets, historic landmarks and Amish communities in Saint Mary’s County, and try the cuisine at the multiple seafood restaurants on Solomon’s Island. There are also plenty of museums including Annemarie Sculpture Garden and Calvert Marine Museum and diversions such as mini-golf, bowling, golf and tennis in the area. Arts and crafts festivals also abound.

We all had such a great time at your house kayaking, crabbing, swimming and beachcombing. Thanks!
This is a spot which is really ideal for a quiet vacation with friends and family. The house is lovely and spacious. The property with its setting right on the river couldn't be nicer. The location is also excellent because for all the feeling of peace and solitude, you are still close to shops, beaches, restaurants and interesting state parks so there is plenty to do.
The first thing my daughter did was disown her shoes and climb a tree out back. The breeze off the Bay made even the hottest days nice, dinners on the front porch, playing on the beach, and a house with more places to play hide and seek than you could shake a stick at. Don't rent this place. We don't want the competition. ;-)
Our family had the opportunity to share this home with our friends this past summer.
Having several teenagers on board, we feared that the location would lack activities to keep
Turns out that we never got to complete the "places to go" list simply because the house, the location, the views, are all so wonderfully relaxing that we couldn't get enough of them!
I would highly recommend this home. The house is a combination of a historical farm house with the
modern day amenities. It's beautiful. The home owners were wonderful. Quick to respond to inquiries.
We hope to visit Sinople Farm again!
We spent a week in July at Sinople Farm. The farmhouse is lovely, with many modern amenities. And you can't beat the view! Close to many activities for all ages. The owners are very responsive with all questions that you have. Thanks to Diep and Jean for a charming, relaxing escape.
This is a beautiful, unique house and property. The decor is tasteful, the bathrooms are luxurious (glorious river-rock showers and designer fixtures), and the setting is idyllic. The water views are amazing! My husband, son and I stayed here over Spring Break and Easter weekend. While this property certainly would be very comfortable for a large family or group, it's also suitable for a small family. Because of the expansiveness of the house and grounds, we felt like we were staying at our dream inn - and were fortunate enough to have it all to ourselves! We really enjoyed exploring this part of Maryland and definitely would like to return, especially now that we've found this wonderful place to stay. We particularly enjoyed visiting the Maritime Museum, hiking to the Calvert Cliffs, and looking for fossils along the beach. The property was very clean and well-maintained, as described in the listing. The owners were incredibly helpful and very nice. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to our family and friends.
Sinople Farm exudes calm and space, good taste, and beauty of every kind both outside and inside.
A group of 5 women over 50 gathered (and will gather again) for a reunion. We needed 5 bedrooms - and there are even more sleeping spaces. And plentiful gathering spaces and rooms for sitting and reading and bathrooms with remarkable modern design.
The feel of this wonderful house/home is an unusual combination of loving the original old part of the house with Colonial colors on the walls and 3 staircases going to the upper two floors with all modern conveniences and respect for environmental well-being.
It is on the water with a pier and boats and views of the sunset to cherish and soothe the spirit.
It is a drivable distance from the DC and Baltimore areas and a gem of luxurious living combined with distinct simplicity.
I shall go anytime I am able to and consider the owners generous beyond words. In fact so much so that because we left the house so very clean, for the first time in my life renting homes through VRBO, they were kind enough to reduce our cleaning fee.
There is no way to be disappointed!
