This newly built Grand Bahama Vacation Rental Home located on the water with boat access is professionally decorated and has a simple charm for both the beach goers and the fishermen. If you are a sport fisher or like to play on the water, this is your tropical paradise. Pull your boat up to the dock or simply throw your bait in the water right out back at the landing. The house has been stylishly decorated, making it a warm and cozy place to read, relax or sunbathe on the back deck. The landing has a 15 foot deep canal that doubles as a gateway for some of the best fishing and diving the Caribbean has to offer. A short walk down the road leads to the beach or snorkel the canal looking for tropical fish and lobster. Yes Lobster! In the evening, you are only a few short miles from the night life at Port Lucaya where you can dance the night away, enjoy a delicious dinner; or simply sit on the veranda in the rear of the home and smoke a cigar, star gaze, listen to music or even make a little of your own. Why Bonnie Bucher chose Bahamia West
Traveling throughout the islands, I wanted to build a home that had a tropical feel in a remote location while still having the conveniences of a modern city. Freeport is a cool mix of the laid back life style of the Abacos coupled with a hint of the city life of Nassau. You can drive to the east side of the island and walk for miles and not see a soul; or you can drive down the road to a store similar to Sam's Club or Costco and buy a weeks worth of groceries for your family.
What makes this House unique
Haven Del Mar offers direct access to the ocean from the backyard. You can pull your boat up to the dock, thus eliminating expensive dockage fees. You have the convenience of offloading stores and the catch of the day without traveling or walking long distances to your lodging. Hot day? Jump in the canal and catch some lobsters. Enjoy the tropical fish that live and play under the dock. Swim across the canal and you'll be on a remote beach that its only habitats are blue crab and tropical birds. Hear the ocean waves splash and crash from the back deck. In one of the most sought after neighborhoods in Grand Bahama, Haven Del Mar is ready to give you and your family remarkable memories of your exotic vacation to the islands.

Absolutely perfect, peaceful getaway, and great location
Always a great get away. The house is wonderful, it has everything my family needs for a week. The location is perfect for boaters. Able to get off the dock and be diving and fishing with in minutes. Love being able to fish and dive then come back to the house to make dinner. Will be coming back.
Always consistent beauty!
This house and vacation time get better and better each and every time we go. The house is perfectly redecorated to make it feel like home with a beach flare. The house, owner and the experience is always a consistently good time!
Nice but kind of isolated
The home is very nice, but getting to the beach is not as easy or safe(?) as I would have liked. I’m writing this because I keep getting emails to leave a review. I left a note on the fridge and hopefully they do incorporate some of those suggestions. Would have liked to have fishing gear- even went on a hunt around the island to find it and snorkeling gear (found googles and snorkel for $80 at dive shop.) Boys I brought got bored, and I really had to work to keep them active. I won’t go into why I didn’t feel safe letting them bike to the beach, but there was a reason. One kayak made going out kayaking a solo experience. Boat that was moared there made using the diving board dangerous. Island itself is still suffering from recovering from hurricane Matthew(2 years almost!) and many places are closed. Owner was very nice and communicative.
Thank you Allison for the kind words about our home. I was a little baffled by the unsafe since we spoke daily while you were there; but I hope everyone realizes that reads this that driving on the left side of the road is very common throughout the island and Europe. It only takes a little time to get used too. We have already looked into a new Kayak and hope to have it there by the end of June if not sooner. You could have easily moved the kayak to the other side of the dock to use the diving board.
We tell everyone that is going to the island that snorkeling and diving is amazing here; but you should bring your own gear. In fact, I tell that to every one that asks. As a diver and spearfisherman, I don't like using anyone elses gear other than tanks. Most people agree with this. Good goggles and snorkels do actually cost $80.00 and a whole lot more, even at discount shops in the USA. We have several fisher families that come and stay with us. Most all of them that know what they are doing understand that fishing gear is a very selective discipline depending on what they are fishing for; be it the world class tuna’s that run the Canyons 15 miles South or spearfishing the hogfish and snapper from the kayak just beyond our inlet. We have actually left fishing poles there, but folks don’t know how to clean them, use them, or have any idea how to catch anything and they have been ruined by the salt. We recommend that these guests should charter a head boat or troll with a Captain from one of the many folks that we refer. As far as the other suggestion, we do not have a recycle program on our island that I am aware of. We love this island and our ocean as well and will certainly make a recycle bin available to our guests as soon it is available. We hope you get some of our tropical sun up North. Hope to see you again soon.
Great Freeport Vacation (Again)
This is our 2nd stay at this beautiful house on the Bahamia Canals. My family and I love everything about this place. From swimming, fishing, and kayaking in the canals to the easy access to Port Lucaya, Xanadu Beach, and other local spots.
We will definitely visit again.
FYI, if you are looking for a wonderful Fishing experience while in Freeport, look up Captain Muff (Facebook "Tailing Boner"). He took us out and chased down some nice Mahi and Mackarel.
Thanks for everything Jason.
beautifully decorated house in a quiet neighborhood
Beautifully remodeled property in a quiet residential neighborhood. The canal was great to fish off of as well as to kayak and snorkel around. There were a few broken/worn items in the house but after speaking with the owner, I feel assured that these will be taken care of. Would recommend heading to Gold Rock beach, you will not find anything prettier. Overall, a very quiet island, not a lot of tourism.
Amazing vacation spot!
Amazing vacation spot! Beautiful beaches just a short bike ride away! Very friendly locals and a short bike ride to the food and clothing stores. The house is perfect (we missed the orange paint though) and the decor is beautiful. Great property did not feel the need to wander to far as everything we needed was right here! Pool table was perfect for the cooler evenings and the channel led right out to a cute little beach! Over all great place and I'm sure we will be back in the near future.
