About Paola & John

Originally from Naples but now currently living mostly in Ravello attached to Villa Ravello.Grecamore

Paola & John purchased this villa in 1963

Why Paola & John chose Ravello

Villa Ravello Grecamore has been in our family for 50 years and is still our family's escape from the city. On first sight the views captivated us and was originally a challenge to get here. Now you can arrive by car in relative comfort and enjoy what we first saw.

What makes this villa unique

Ravello was chosen back then because of its semi-remoteness and simple way of life, yet close to enough to Naples. Much has changed since then, where the only access to to the house was via 150 steps from the town square. The roads came yet Ravello still retains its 'off the beaten track' charm and many original features remain; the lemon groves, the beautiful Palatial Villas (Cimbrone and Rufolo), Sunday evenings in the town square, the fine food and little known wines, the ancient steps, the stunning views to name a few.

When first acquired there was just the main house surrounded by a vineyards. When the roads reached us new parts were added to create what is now a comfortable and very spacious family size home on the Costiera Amalfitana. Several years ago we decided to open up and share our family's home and since then, have been welcoming quests from all over the world. We look forward to welcoming you, your family and friends and to assisting you have a memorable stay.

Lovely home and location -- perfect for anyone who likes to walk and be close to town.

  • 5 of 5

Great hosts, clean, comfortable and sizable home in a quiet location but close to town. Ideal for walkers and hikers. We stayed with 8 adults and 2 young children and had a great time. They even supplied a pack and play! The view and outside seating areas are amazing. We would definitely stay here again. It's a 10 min walk up to town center and a 25 min walk down to minori. We highly recommend it!

Spectacular ocean views

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this property in September with four adults and two teenagers. The home has breathtaking views from the many terraces facing the ocean.

The bedrooms are all on the top floor and they share one bathroom. There are 2 bathrooms on the main floor near the kitchen and living areas. I appreciated the washing machine since we tend to have laundry to do while on vacation. The home also offers Wi-Fi which worked well. There was also parking for one car in the owner's garage but we actually chose to park on the street which was safe and more convenient.

There are stairs to the home from the street parking or the parking in the garage. Not too many stairs but enough to be mentioned in case you decide to pack heavy luggage.

We enjoyed taking the stairs into the town of Ravello. The town center is very small and quaint with cafés to enjoy a coffee or beer/wine and people watch. Lots of cute stores to shop in and many local items for sale.

We also walked to Minori and Amalfi this included many stairs but was a highlight to me during the one week vacation in Ravello.

If you walk to Minori you can rent beach lounge chaises and enjoy the water. The walk to Amalfi was long but well worth the stairs to see areas you would never enjoy by car/bus. We took a ferry from Amalfi to Positano and had a great day. You can also make it to Sorrento by ferry from Amalfi.

Driving in this area is crazy but the views and coastal towns are worth the stress.

The owners answered my many email questions and were very easy to communicate with prior to our arrival. On the first night they even made us a yummy frittata to enjoy which I appreciated because I was too tired to cook anything that evening.

This home was spacious enough for all six people and I would highly recommend it for a memorable vacation in a beautiful area.

Thank you John and Paola for a great stay in your family home.

Beautiful view

  • 3 of 5

Lovely and welcoming hosts - they waited for us at thw house with home made pasta nad wine. They were very helpful and offered a lot of tips around the area.

House has 3 tarasses with astunning view over the sea and mountains. Amazing spots to relax and enjoy a glass of wine or have a breakfast.

House is spacious but seems a bit worn-out especially on the bed side - old and totally soft or hard beds doesn't offer a decent sleep.

Overall a good experience.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us and submitting a review. It was our pleasure to host your extended family all of whom were polite, kind and very welcome guests. We are happy to know that you enjoyed your stay in our family's home, appreciated the location, views and tranquility. We also appreciate your kind words and compliments - we like to welcome all of our guests and provide the right start to their stay. As you would have experienced, we don't intrude on guests privacy or enjoyment, even though we live attached. However, we are always available to assist and resolve any issues as they arise. We could have made your stay more comfortable if we had known the beds were not to your liking. We have a varied selection as all our guests have their own preferences. We are always making changes based on guest comments and we appreciate your feedback on this. We have started planning upgrades ready for the new season including more bed options. Thanks again for staying with us, we hope your journey home was a safe one and we hope to see you again in Ravello. Paola and John

Special Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I loved our stay in the villa. The views are spectacular from all three levels. The bedrooms are on the top floor with one bath. Three of the five bedrooms have a balcony overlooking the sea..very nice! The second floor has a large and comfortable living room and dining area with a fully equipped kitchen and two baths. The main deck is also on this level with a dining table (you will never want to eat anywhere else) and a relaxing sitting area. The bottom floor has the laundry, exercise area and lots of outside space. The covered deck is perfect for escaping the sun and the other patio areas are lovely. Paola and John were generous and accommodating, the perfect hosts. Paola's pasta dinner with fresh ingredients from her garden was delightful. They also helped arrange for a rental boat and gave us great recommendations on hiking in the area. The center of Ravello with shops and restaurants is within walking distance up steps directly across from the villa. We had some friends stop by for a few days and it was difficult to get them to leave. The villa is just perfect and we would highly recommend it.

Absolutely Stunning! Perfect for our family break

  • 5 of 5

We came to Ravello to attend a family wedding! Paola and Johns Villa was perfect for us! We were 8 adults (from 20 years old to 80 years young!). Paola had arranged shopping for us AND the MOST amazing Pasta dinner! Enjoyed by all! They really went out of their way to help us, from finding a dry cleaners to booking taxis for us into the village. The sleeping arrangements were perfect, the kitchen had all the amenities you could want, and no one was left without a seat! We even had some of the wedding party down for drinks and it still wasn't a squeeze! Love, love, loved it!!!
