The Owner purchased this cabin in 1995

Why The Owner chose Red Lodge

Kelly purchased this property in 1987 when we moved to the Red Lodge area. We own 28 acres and have 3/4 mile of Rock Creek frontage. Kelly's Rock Creek Cabin was built in 1995 in order to provide a unique log cabin rental for people wishing to experience the rustic flavor of Montana.

What makes this cabin unique

Rock Creek is but a few short steps from the deck of Kelly's Rock Creek Cabin. The sounds of the babbling brook can be enjoyed while relaxing on the deck. Several 'fishing holes' on Rock Creek are a short hike away. The adjoining property is the Horse Thief Station Fishing Access site and has beaver ponds full of eager brrok trout.

Great time!!

  • 4 of 5

It was very cold when we came to the cabin, about -15 on the 25th of Dec. and the cabin had a couple of elec heaters for the bedrooms and the main room had a propane heater which kept us all nice and cozy. The next couple of days, it was warmer out about 25 to 30 so we did some snow skiing at Red lodge and grilled at the cabin and did some hot tubbing in the evenings. The cabin sits by itself with no neighbors so that was nice. Everett came by and checked on us a couple of times, and if we needed anything which was great. Had fun with the family and was a very nice stay.

All around PERFECT!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a fantastic time! The location is beautiful and quiet. Yet, we were close enough to Red Lodge to head in for dinner and not feel like we were traveling even more after our long drive from Missoula. We skied one day and were surprised at how short the drive was. The hot tub was a perfect addition to such a cozy cabin. Being so close to everything, we were able to take advantage and go for a quick soak before and after we went anywhere. We were able to get back after skiing and jump in the hot tub just in time to watch the last glows of the sunset. And to top off the picturesque scene it included bald eagles flying by! Being able to have our dog with us was great. He loved running around the snow, collecting sticks, and smelling everything while we sat in the hot tub. Then coming in to curl up in front of the heater while we made dinner and listened to music. So Relaxing! We are very busy at home so having such a cozy, quiet place to actually fit in a couple of naps was unbelievable!!! We are not TV watchers (don't even have one at home) but having the music stations on there was a plus. We had perfectly fine cell coverage, convenient, although I would be fine without in such a perfect "Get Away" spot. And the wood work in the cabin!!! WOW!

Past reviews had issues with the heat. I can say it is truly no longer an issue. We were there during single and below 0 temperatures and we felt the heaters worked well.

I am now teasing my husband that if he can't find me I am probably sneaking away with our dog and a book to Kelly's Cabin. And leaving my phone out in the truck! :) I can't wait to come back during other seasons for more recreation and relaxing.

Thank you Everett and Kelly for such great hospitality!!!

A Real Montana Experience

This is a really nice cabin - rustic but comfortable. The details on the construction are really something to see.

Overall enjoyable!

  • 3 of 5

This cabin is amazing - it's close to Rock Creek, walking, hiking, and has a great hot tub. We were even surprised by a group horseback who traveled through; which is also facilitated by the owner of the cabin. We ran out of propane for the gas grill the second night of our stay. We had only used the grill one other time, and made sure to shut off the propane bottle after our use. This was disappointing, as it was August. I also feel the bathroom was not cleaned, as there was a washrag which had dried while hanging off the shower caddy and a used bar of soap on the ledge. At nearly $200 per night, these are genuine expectations. Perhaps someone stayed there without the owner's knowledge. These two factors dampered our enthusiasm a bit. This is our annual girls retreat, and we are repeat customers.
