About Donna Brucato

We live on the mainland but love to come to our home as often as we can. It has such a quiet wonderful feel.

Donna Brucato purchased this house in 2011

Why Donna Brucato chose Hawaii County

We have vacationed at Mauna Kea and Hapuna Beach for years and love this part of Hawaii best. We have always wanted to own a home here and finally had the opportunity to purchase this beautiful home.

What makes this house unique

This home is very private, with only one other house on the north side. Two sides of the house have a green belt of native plants. Wonderful sweeping views of the ocean and coast line both to the north and south. We grow organic papaya and banana trees bearing fruit most of the year for our clients. There are also a variety of citrus and pineapple in season. Lovely lanai along entire west side of the house with teak lounges and tables and chairs. New gas grill for outdoor meals. Enjoy the sunsets from the great room, lanai or swimming pool and spa.

If you choose the amenity package, you can enjoy the same amenities we do at both hotels--including reduced fees for golf at both Mauna Kea and Hapuna, tennis at the seaside courts at Mauna Kea, beach and pool access at both hotels (including beach towels, lounge chairs and umbrellas).

Notes:
This home is truly a Hawaiian delight with tropical surroundings right on the property. It is the best valued home within the Mauna Kea because the owners are generous and want to help dreams come true for those looking to make vacation memories. They feel blessed when they are not there, that someone is renting their home.

Perfect house in perfect location on the Big Island

  • 5 of 5

First and foremost, the house was 100% as advertised in VRBO. We were a party of four (two couples), and this property was perfect, as it had two full master bedrooms and baths on opposite sides of the house. The absolute best thing for us was that the living room, dining room and pool/spa area faced directly west for the sunsets, and they were unbelievable each and every evening. We spent the days exploring all the cool things the Big Island has to offer by vehicle, and then cooked on the grill or in the kitchen, eating on the dining room table inside or outside on the patio. Each evening, we retired to the heated pool/spa for talk of the days events. The roads are all great on the Big Island, so it was very easy to get to all parts of the island for sightseeing. We were not prepared to golf on this vacation, but next time we will be, as the courses right there and nearby are phenomenal. The location of the house was optimal, as there are only two houses in a small, private gated area, nestled above all the other houses below, so there was very little noise and no obstruction of the panoramic ocean/sunset views. This was our best overall experience with VRBO, and we thank everyone involved for the wonderful property and the great time we all had on the Big Island from July 7 through July 19, 2017.

Sunset views, great location and perfectly organized

  • 5 of 5

I can't thank the owners enough for having everything so thoughtfully organized. We had a wonderful stay with our family of 6 adults. We had great BBQ's most nights and spent our days at the Mauna Kea Beach. With the club parking included in the daily club package it was so convenient. We loved that all 3 bedrooms were master suites so everyone had a large and spacious room and bath. The owners provided everything we needed from paper towels, dishwasher soap, even Olive oil and spices for our cooking needs so we didn't need to purchase so much for a short week stay. This home was so well organized with every cabinet and drawer labeled and enough glasses, dishes and pots and pans to make cooking at home really easy. It inspired me to better organize my own things at home better:). It is a quiet and peaceful home that we look forward to renting again. Much Aloha!🌴?🍍?🐠?

Brucato House

  • 5 of 5

Everything went very well. House was clean and well-kept. Also, there were some staple provisions there which was very helpful Only difficulty we encountered was on the day of arrival - the lockbox did not work as per the instructions and the address was incorrect (two numbers were transposed) in the instructions that were sent to us. A few minor things in the house need a little attention but nothing at all serious. We were very pleased with the rental and would go back there again if it was still available.

Nice House

  • 4 of 5

The house view was like no other. Georgous !!! The pool and hot tub was amazing! The house its self was nice however needs an update with bedding , pillows, and carpet need replacing. There are ant traps and dead bugs everywhere. Kinda made me feel uneasy but I guess that's what you get in Hawaii. The bedding/ bed was not as luxurious as I would have thought because of the home being so beautiful. The furniture/ bed one bedrooms were dated. The house has two master bedroom that are located with in the house the third master ( two twin beds) had its own entrance. Kinda surprised me because it's not what I had imagined for my 10 and 12 year old. The 12 year old loved it however. The rental agent was great they responded to any problems we had. Also the garage was filled with coolers, snorkels and floats.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review. I'm sorry about finding dead bugs. It is a constant battle in Hawaii. We do have a pest control company come out monthly to keep it under control. I am in the process of looking for new bedding for the master suites and new bedside tables for the master suite. I have also purchased new shades for the master suite. I am glad you were able to make use of the snorkels, floats, etc in the garage. We also have a large selection of beach toys. We hope you will visit again. Judy

Perfect location, incredible pool

  • 5 of 5

We had an incredible stay at this house over Christmas and New Year's. The layout of the house is perfect, with 3 rooms which I would basically call masters. This was great for our family which included 3 generations of couples (30 yo, 55yo, and 80 yo), no one ended up with a 'bad' room. This has definitely been a problem for us in the past, finding a house with 3 rooms which all have large beds and their own large bathoom/closet is definitely difficult. The 'Ohana' Suite was great as it afforded us a bit more privacy being disconnected from the rest of the house, but not too far at all. One story also made it really easy for our elderly guests.

Another great benefit is the ability to use the facilities at the Mauna Kea and Hapuna Prince hotels (this was for an additional fee, but very modest when compared to the cost of the rest of the vacation, and definitely worth it). They are just down the road, not very walkable (distance wise is not bad but it is up a pretty steep hill) but valet is free and parking is included, so no big deal. We ate at a few of the restaurants there and they were great. The beach at both hotels was really nice and you don't have to bring anything down with you because you are provided with chairs and towels. We didn't spend too much time there though because the pool and house was so incredible.

Within a relatively short drive (<15 minutes) you also have access to a number of restaurants at some of the other resorts. As long as you are eating there valet parking is free, so it is really easy. There is also a Foodland fairly close, easy for making the occasional grocery run.

For the golfers, Donna is a platinum member and as a guest at one of her houses you get special rates at the Hapuna and Mauna Kea golf courses. The discount was pretty significant, making the golf a bit more affordable.

If you are hesitant on the Big Island (which we were a little) I say go for it! We liked it more than our past stays in Honolulu. Not as many people, but plenty to do. We saw the volcanos, did an ATV tour, snorkeled, and relaxed. Additionally I think it one of the warmest and driest parts of any of the islands. During our stay it seemed to be raining every else, except where we were. All in all it was an incredible stay and we are ready to go back next year!

So Comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

The home was very comfortable. We had everything we needed and it was absolutely beautiful! We loved the view of the ocean, pool, golf course, and fruit trees. It was breathtaking! We also loved that the home was equipped with everything we needed such as linens, dishes, and many of the basics. The beds were super comfortable and the home was very spacious. Our boys loved the pool and we are so glad we had a heated hot tub. We also enjoyed both resorts and the activities there. We did not want to leave because we enjoyed it so much. We would love to come back again someday!
