This private riverfront home offers bohemian luxury and 1960s style with an awesome riverfront location.

The River House was built in 1948 and offers three bedrooms and two newly remodeled baths with all modern amenities. The house has been meticulously maintained. The style of the home Mid-Century meets 1960s chic. The chef's kitchen is newly remodeled and highly functional. This is pristine riverside living at its best.

The sights and sounds of the beautiful Smith River are at your doorstep. There are many hiking trails close by on the middle and north forks of the river as well as the virgin Redwood forests of Jedidiah Smith State Park after whom both the park and river were named.

The River House is a great place to unwind. It is a retreat from the rigors of everyday life and a rare opportunity to take stock of nature’s pristine abundance.

The house is available for your enjoyment year around. Whether you enjoy hiking, fishing, rafting or simply relaxing to the sound of one of American’s most beautiful rivers. You will find peace here.

This a beautiful midcentury modern gem!! It’s so peaceful! Coffee n the deck overlooking the river was my favorite way to start the day! We saw ducks sunning themselves several mornings. Swimming at the river point access and the Grove of the Titans at Jedediah Smith State park was our favorites! Trees of Mystery was also a fun day trip. The kitchen is perfect to prepare your own meals! Very nicely appointed vacation home, thank you!!

We rented this house based solely on the description stating it had direct river access only to arrive and discover it did not have direct river access. Examples of this language, pulled directly from the listing, include: - On the beach: A rare beachfront property in the area - enjoy direct access to the sand and sea.- Popular amenities: On the beach- 1 min walk to Smith River- Location type: Beachfront On River, Waterfront: On the Smith River- About the area: Located in Gasquet, this vacation home is in a rural area and on the beach.”The house itself was nice but please be advised you cannot access the river directly from the house.

We adored our stay at this amazing home. It is conveniently located to the Northern Redwoods State Park area and Jedediah Smith Park and it sits on the cleanest river in the lower US. However, you must know you cannot access the river from the house, but access is close by. The house itself is decorated very nicely in mid century modern style with very comfortable furniture and mattresses. The kitchen is INCREDIBLY well stocked with a beautiful Italian gas range and every gadget and you could ever need. We hope to make it back again!

The home was built in 1948. We’ve taken great effort to mindfully preserve its original integrity, but have modernized the bathrooms and the kitchen is state of the Art and has been completely remodeled, with state-of-the-art appliances and high-quality finishes. I’m sorry you found it “dated,” we’ve never had a guest suggest that.

Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. This home has so much character and is very well appointed. The patio overlooking the river is spectacular. We loved everything about it.

Bit difficult getting in as there was no gate code numbers on our check in information . Tried 4 times to get him.after we were settling in he called my husbands number.Once we crawled under the gate and got inside I found the gate code in information book so we get our vehicle in. . the owner suggested I take over his vrbo website.... then he told us to watch the white carpet because his wife would get mad. The carpet was heavily stained ... otherwise a lovely place and we enjoyed the place and the location.

Thank you for your review. The gate code was a Vrbo website glitch, for some reason the code was not provided as usual. This is the first time this has ever happened and has not happened since. As regards to the carpet, the previous guest prior to your stay, left several stains, which are being professionally cleaned. We pride ourselves on maintaining and an impeccably clean property, and we apologize for that condition.

Place was nice and had everything there to use. We had a great stay, all though we weren't there during the daytime cause we were fishing Great fishing by the way! We did notice long hairs on the toilet seat that when we came back and felt like someone was there while we were gone. (weird...) besides that great place.

Beautiful Stay

Excellent location. Communication with owner is excellent, friendly, helpful. Beds are a bit uncomfortable, not terrible. Views, fire pit, house layout and kitchen layout are perfect!

Perfect

Three friends came to bask in the beauty of the redwoods and this house felt more like a home. Beautiful quiet location. Private rooms for each of us and a dream kitchen for us to cook in. We were out so much I wished we were home more to enjoy the house and backyard. I would love to stay here again.

Awesome getaway!

This property was amazing and our family had a wonderful stay. We enjoyed the sound of the river behind the house. The house was fully equipped with everything you could need and the beds were so comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

3 night stay

We had a really nice stay. We hung out on the beautiful deck for quite some time listening to the river rushing by. There were a couple of nice swimming holes that we visited, and the access to the redwoods was excellent.

You can swim and hike is so many beautiful places here and often have them all to yourself. The water in the river is crystal clear and among the cleanest and freshest rivers anywhere. Wild Salmon, Steelhead and Ocean going Cutthroat Trout are plentiful but ellusive.
