My wife, two daughters and I rented Suite Retreat for our son's graduation from nearby Ripon College this past weekend. The cottage is modern, comfortable and well equipped. It has a terrific deck which looks out on beautiful Green Lake, and is a great home-base for walks through the upscale Lawsonia golf courses and estate home area. The property owner, Edie, was a pleasure to deal with and even called shortly after our arrival to see if we had any questions and make sure everything was to our satisfaction.
While this property would be perfect for a full week's vacation or more, it worked really well for us for a graduation weekend. For the cost of much less than renting two rooms in a mediocre hotel or Green Lake resort, we were able to stay in an upscale, comfortable lake home. We highly recommend that other families traveling from out of state to Ripon College graduations or other events consider staying here.
First time renting a cottage in Wisconsin and it went very smoothly, the owners were very accommodating. The cottage was perfect for 3 couples considering it had two bedrooms and a large downstairs pullout separating it out for each couple. The lake was beautiful and the nearby towns were well worth visiting. We'll definitely be returning.
This was a wonderful get-away. My husband fished off the pier and caught many bass!!! The house was clean and had everything that you would need. Owners were very accommodating. It was quiet, and peaceful and it felt like home. We look forward to spending more time at this cottage.
The Suite Retreat was the perfect place for our annual family vacation at Green Lake. When our regular summer cottage plans fell through, we were happy to find this beautiful property with everything we needed and more space than we're used to for hosting our growing family. The photos and description are very accurate, the home was clean and there were plenty of towels and sheets for us to use. We did bring beach towels with us and were very pleased that there was a full-size washer and dryer to use. We also brought our boat and were pleased with the boat lift and dock. The only thing I can recommend is that the beach or area in front of the dock be cleared for swimming. I jumped into the water from the dock and my foot struck a sharp rock below. We were careful to avoid that spot again.
The owners were very lovely. Edie was easy to get a hold of and called us once we arrived to make sure everything was in order. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to write this review because everyone enjoyed their stay. We hope to make it back to Suite Retreat again next year and are considering renting the adjoining home for our friends to use as well! Thanks so much for your hospitality!
We just spent a week at Suite Retreat and it was absolutely fantastic. The house is just lovely and very well appointed - especially the great, open kitchen. We were surprised with a great selection of vintage board games, a chess board, and a ping pong table, which were wonderful on a rainy morning. Because there was no one staying in the larger, attached house most of the time we were there, we had access to another dock and a nice, small, private beach which my six-year-old son loved, and we were thrilled to not have to travel to a beach. That said, one bit of constructive criticism, I think it would be VERY hard to stay in this house with small children and NOT have access to the small beach, it seems like everyone who is staying on the property should be able to share it. Particularly since the swimming around the Suite Retreat dock is not easy with small kids at all, very rocky with lots of zebra mussels. Overall, though, really a beautiful place and a good value.
This is a beautiful cottage on the north side of the lake, with a boat lift available on a large dock, a large yard area, and plenty of space. The cottage lacks for nothing. Very comfortable layout and accommodations throughout. Lots of books and games available for rainy days. A canoe was available for use. Spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Restaurants and fuel are available by boat nearby. Several golf courses are nearby. Be careful if you wade in the water, and wear protective water shoes. Green Lake, like many other Wisconsin lakes, seems to have zebra mussels everywhere, as I found out the hard way when I cut myself twice just wading around my boat.
