Our family has been traveling to the Outer Banks area since 1972. This area offers a wonderful family environment especially on the North Beaches where there is less traffic and commercial establishments. Our children remember times at Monteray Shores as the most treasured experiences with family and friends. As adults, the memories continue to build. There's no stop to it! This area continues to offer special moments; awesome outdoor time and activities; convenient shopping for necessities, souvenirs, unique gifts; or a movie theater. You'll experience comfortable living close to it all. You'll love it!

The oceanfront is 5 blocks away which our family thinks is an EASY walk. For those that prefer a lesser walk, there is a free parking lot 1 block from the beach and two for the sound. My family walks because we enjoy the exercise and getting in and out of vehicles seems to be so much trouble for the short distance. If you have a 4 X 4 vehicle, there is the northern beach access for both vehicle and pedestrian traffic approximately 10 minutes away. Wow, this is another awesome way to spend the day and you'll likely see the residual herd of Spanish horses grazing in the dunes or strolling along the waterfront.

Our tenants have access to all of the community's services. Because of the close proximity of our property, the community family and kiddie pools are a VERY short walk from the house. This is true also of the clubhouse, fitness center, boat ramp, tot lot, tennis courts, basketball courts and 2 piers. The community offers children activities and recreational equipment rentals. Biking is easy for the serious or recreational biker with the Currituck County installed bike path bordering the Monteray Shores housing development. The paved bike trail runs adjacent to Route 12 and allows bikers to ride from the most northern point in Corolla to the southern town of Duck. You'll find so many activities, conveniences, and fun so convenient....just a short distance away.

Why Kay Sclater chose Corolla

We have been going to the Outer Banks since 1972. It is our favorite place on the continental US to enjoy the sun . This is our routine place to vacation with our children and friends. It is a perfect place to create endless, wonderful memories. We love the fact that it remains today less commercialized. Yes, there are some beach shops but it is not the 'boardwalk' scene. Choose the Outer Banks for the simplicity and the good life!

What makes this house unique

We enjoy easy, close access to the 4 wheel drive driving beach area as an alternative to the pedestrian only beach. Almost every visit includes viewing the wild horses and other wildlife. Oh, this is a relaxing place!

The property is cleaned by a top notch cleaning firm and that fee is included in the rental price. To make your stay even more relaxing and to allow for maximum beach time, cleaning services are available during the week for a reasonable fee.

Get Away From It All

This was our first time to Corolla but not our last. The house has many balconies to choose from which are perfect for reading a book in the morning with the first cup of coffee or watching the sun set and the stars appear at night. A big deck extending from the top floor is perfect for entertaining. The house offered four good sized bedrooms and plenty of closet and storage space. We enjoyed walking down to the public pier and trapping crabs with our son, swimming in the beautiful and well kept community pool, plus walking the short distance to the public beach. If walking is not your thing, there is plenty of parking both around the public pier or near the public beach. Corolla is a small town but there are plenty of choices for restaurants and a nice touristy shopping area. Just up the beach a few miles north are the beautiful wild ponies. We enjoyed daily shopping trips to the local fish market to pick out fresh caught fish and shrimp, plus visiting the local butcher shop. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking. This vacation allowed us to take a step back from our normally busy lives and just enjoy our family and to relax. Corolla is not a commercialized area so just enjoying nature and relaxing were are major activities. If you enjoy history, Historic Corolla is just a few miles up the road complete with a historic lighthouse and to the south about 25 minutes is Kitty Hawk.

The house itself is very well kept, the kitchen is large enough for several cooks in the kitchen at once. There are two bedrooms located downstairs and the two master bedrooms both with separate bathrooms are on what I would call the mid-level. Big windows upstairs allow for lots of natural light.

Kay was easy to work with and made it very easy to rent this house. She was also very timely with answers to any questions we had. She is very well organized and helps you through the process.

I would recommend this house to families looking to get away from it all.

Great location and home

We had a great stay here for our vacation on the Outer Banks! This beautifully decorated home is very well located and is an easy walk to the pool, clubhouse and the beach. The parking at the beach was very nice to have. We never had any problem at all finding a spot. There was always plenty of parking. This home is super comfortable and has many amenities. We loved the sofa with the loungers. The Olympics were going on while we were there and there was plenty of room for all ten of us in the living room watching the events. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. Plenty of pots, pans, and dishware for family dinners. Having bicycles to use was great and we did not have to bring them from home. We loved the Corolla area. Beautiful trees and flowers everywhere. I would recommend getting over the bridge and onto NC 12 very early in the morning.

The lighthouse is only about 3 miles away and I recommend a visit there.

The owners were really great and answered all questions very promptly. I would highly recommend this home!

Awesome location, home & owners!

This home is perfectly situated just three streets from the clubhouse & a quick walk or bike ride. We love the convenience of quickly unloading everything into the garage after an outing at the pool or beach.

This was our second year staying in this home. Unless our party size grows this is our go to beach house for many years to come. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else.

We love the ability to ride bikes to the nearby shopping centers, grocery store & light house area. I highly recommend crabbing on the pier at Whalehead; touring the Whalehead Club, Currituck Lighthouse & Wildlife Center; a great activity for young children is the Corolla SEALS class. If you get the chance, go out to eat at High Cotton in Kitty Hawk. Hands down the best BBQ around!

The owner of this home is very responsive and has been extremely accomodating. I so enjoy the personal interaction I just do not feel you get outside of VRBO rentals.

Family Friendly

Our first trip to the OBX and it won't be our last! Our first day there we went for a free BBQ at Mike and Dianna's at lunch time while we waited for the house to be ready. I recommend stopping at the visitors station to get insider information! I suggest getting over the bridge by 9 am if possible. The house was amazing for our large family! We have 5 kids ages 7-17. Everyone was comfortable and had something to do (actually allowing us to relax!) . We enjoyed corn horn, hammocks, swings, board games/puzzles, and the abundance of books at the house! We even took a night to go out on the deck and look at the stars! The kitchen was stocked very well with extras of everything! The walk to the clubhouse was very easy but we actually drove to the beach so the younger kids didn't complain about having to carry stuff. The kids loved the class they took on crabbing and feeding the turtles in the pond that was offered at a very minimal price by the club house. We even went back and crabbed later that night with the hooks provided at the house. There are 5 bikes at the house, but take your helmets with you. There were also a lot of beach toys, beach chairs, an umbrella, and boogie boards so you don't even have to pack those! The grill is charcoal. Communication has been great from Kay and she is always pleasant. There is so much to do in Corolla but you can always venture out as well! Love this property, will most likely return!

Great property & Great location & Best Owners

I'd first like to state that Kay & her husband are the most accommodating with regards to inquiries or issues that may arise (we didn't have any). The property was beautiful and spacious with a very open concept feel. My 5 year old daughter just loved it and the rest of my family enjoyed it just as much. Located between the sound and the beach within minutes of both by foot or transportation. Shops & local jewels are also within minutes of driving. Crabbing @ Whalehead is a must but be sure to go when the tide is high and bring nets. The cage thing didn't work too well for us as we preferred the method of string tied to chicken pieces. Nets will be of valuable asset! Anyhow to sum it all up, the property was beautiful, owner's are amazing, and community clubhouse and pool were great as well. We look to return next year as well. Thanks again Kay! !

Damage Deposit $250

House keys will be mailed to the tenants approximately 2 weeks prior to the scheduled arrival date. At the same time, a self address, postage paid envelope is provided for the tenant to mail back the keys to the landlord. Upon receipt of the keys and a report from the cleaning crew that there are no damages, the security deposit will be returned.

Rates are subject to change until reservation is confirmed. Payments are in two installments. The 1st is 50% of rental fee and taxes upon signing the contract. The 2nd payment is 50% of rental fee and taxes plus the fully refundable security deposit of $250 with no damages and keys returned promptly. The 2nd installment is due 30 days prior to the tenant's arrival. There are no additional fees.
