Nice Condo in convenient location

This is a nice and very adequate accommodation in a convenient Estes Park location. The condo was clean, nicely appointed for the most part, and easy to find. Probably better suited to a family with children, as opposed to 4 couples because of the bedroom and bed configurations (queen and bunks in one small room).

The garage door remote was not left for us, as indicated it would be. Also disappointing was the master bedroom TV, which didn’t work. The living room TV is antiquated (small- poor picture). TV watching was not our goal for the weekend, but it would have been nice to catch some football while prepping to attend a wedding.

My bigger concern and reason for only 3 stars is a management issue, and the lack of full disclosure with this property: Had I known that in addition to the $120 cleaning fee, that the guest would be expected to 1. Strip the beds 2. Empty the garbages the dishes 4. Wash a load of towels and put in dryer…then wash another load of towels... I would not have rented this property. As a vrbo owner/manager myself, I have never asked my guests to do this amount of cleaning. This request is definitely the prerogative of the owner, however, I think this guest requirement should be disclosed PRIOR to booking this condo.

Also of concern was the TWO week delay in releasing my $500 damage deposit. I was notified within two hours of check out that the garage door opener was missing; the one that was never provided. Fortunately, I had called upon check-in to report the lack of opener, a broken sconce and a missing picture; otherwise I may have been on the hook for these items. My point being, since the property was assessed after our checkout within 2 hours in order to be able to address the “missing” garage door opener, then why did it take TWO weeks to return my $500 damage deposit? Once again, as a fellow vrbo property owner, this can be released by the owner, or it is automatically released by vrbo if no claim is filed. After two respectful emails to the owner/manager went unanswered, I called vrbo customer service. This owner has a 2 week period until “auto-release” of damage deposit funds, and banks require another 4-5 business days to process. I find that delay unnecessary and inconsiderate, however, if that’s their policy it’s their call, but it should just be DISCLOSED before booking.

In summary; the condo is nice enough, but the management issues would deter me from ever staying here again.

Owner's Response: I am so very sorry you were disappointed with your stay. I hope this will be of help in the future. Sometimes people do not understand the rates as listed on VRBO. The "average rate" listed on VRBO does not include taxes or cleaning fee however these are listed in the quote guests are given. In an effort to keep cleaning fees as low as possible we do ask guests to dump trash, run the dishwasher, etc. In the future we want you to know you an call the property managers if there is a concern or if you do not have time to do something prior to leaving. We do not want to burden guests or put undue pressure on them. Regarding deposits they are set to auto refund on the VRBO site. The renal agreement spells out the policy yet we know not everyone downloads and reads the agreement. In the future feel free to call if there are any concerns or questions.

The condo was in a great location, close to the Stanley, with a great view! Even though it was close to downtown and the grocery store, it was quiet, which we enjoyed. Plenty of room for our entire party to stretch out and relax after spending the day in RMNP.

Gladly return

Our family enjoyed a comfortable stay on the property. Five adults and 2 middle school aged kids had plenty of room. Seating outside is rather small but there is a picnic table that can be moved from the garage. It was a little warm the first day without a/c but once the windows were opened it was pleasant. We would gladly stay here again. Easy access to town. If you can bring food with you. The nearby Safeway is expensive and crazy crowded.
