Guestbook comments from the manager

The condo was very nice! The owner Randy stopped by with more laundry soap and to say hello! Unfortunately I had a bit too much sun and missed him, but my son met him and said he seemed happy and full of energy! Our stay was very comfortable and welcoming. The view of the pool and ocean were also beautiful! The beds were very comfortable and we had 5 nights of good sleep.... The bathrooms were nice and we never ran out of hot water! It was also very convenient to have a washer and dryer! We even found the time to use the pool and hot tub a couple of times. Our favorite places to eat were Papa's Pizza and Big Amos; both were on the sea wall and reasonably priced. The biggest disappointment was Fisherman's Wharf, it was extremely pricey and the food wasn't great and our waitress was only friendly towards men.... We fished at Sea Wolf Park, it was pricey and disappointing; the pier off of 61st street, was free and only had small bait robbing fish; off the Jetty by the Bolivar Ferry, free, fun, but a storm chased us away, the ferry ride was nice and also free; the guys enjoyed fishing directly in front of the Maravilla complex, climbing over the rocks and standing in the ocean! We also went to Moody Gardens, our favorite attractions were the big glass rainforest pyramid and the paddle boat ride. I almost forgot, we also saw a late night movie at the local movie theatre. The theatre was pretty basic, looked like they were remodeling a little bit and was inexpensive. Thanks Randy, for sharing your place with us! We had a wonderful time and a memorable vacation!! I wanted to write something in your guestbook, but ran out of time before checked out.... We hope to come stay again in the not too far off future! -The Peterson Family P.S. I kept taking pictures even on our way out the door, so my husband made fun of me. :-) I would absolutely recommend your property to others! (Just be aware that there are stairs, going up to the apartment door and inside.) We didn't mind at all, but to others it may be difficult.

Beautiful condos in a great spot in Galveston

  • 5 of 5

We rented a 1 bedroom condo for our family of 4 for the Columbus Day weekend holiday. The pool view from our room was amazing and the grounds were beautifully landscaped.

The condo itself had been updated with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and modern bath and kitchen fixtures. Our teenage girls described it as "fancy" and loved sleeping in the bunk beds.

The condo owner also offered free Netflix and Hulu from his internet enabled TV which we loved because we could have some family time after a beach day or swimming in the pool.

The condos are located toward the west end of Galveston so it is quiet and relaxing. To enjoy the beach, you will have to drive as that part of the seawall is protected by rocks. This didn't really bother us since we usually take boogie boards, chairs and coolers anyway so having the car was helpful. We can take a short walk down the pier and enjoy Jimmy's where there is a great view, good food and tasty fruity drinks.

The condo is not more than 15-20 minutes from Pleasure Pier, East Beach, Galveston Island State Park or the Historic Strand. If you like fresh seafood, we recommend checking out the fish markets near Fisherman's Wharf for fresh snapper, golden tile, gulf shrimp and more.

We would definitely stay there again!

Beautiful condo and great layout in a good location

  • 4 of 5

The condo is brand new or recently renovated with high-end furnishings. The layout is really good for a 1 br/1 ba. Large flat-screen TVs in the living room and bedroom. Wi-Fi, Cable, DVD player, and Netflix access is provided. Balcony overlooked the view of the main pool. Room is located near the elevator with covered parking below. The location on the island is not central but regardless you pretty much have to commute wherever you want to go. The beach isn't really in walking distance but we liked the beach, Sunny Beach, which is really nearby, it is free and you can drive up to the beach.

The review should of been a 5 star review but we had a couple of big issues and I am being generous not rating a 1-star.

The listing description said that it included a shower/tub combo but the owner had a sign on the tub that said don't use because it leaks. We had an 11 month old with us, so a tub was a top priority. We ended up making do but the listing description was not accurate.

There was a scheduled water shut-off from 9-5 one of the days we were staying. This would of been a deal-breaker for us IF the landlord disclosed this to us. The water ended up being off from 9-4. There was flyers posted all around the property that said for the owners to notify tenants of the water shut-off.

When we e-mailed the landlord in regards to our concerns his email lacked any apology, empathy, and reaction. In regards to the water being shut-off, he said he didn't feel he needed to notify us. His resolution was that we were free to find another location and he would refund us for the remaining days. He sent a 2nd e-mail asking us how much we feel we should receive in a monetary refund for the inconveniences, which still isn't an adequate response because he should be offering the solution(s).

In the end, the issues were specific to us and you can tell the landlord takes great pride in his properties.

Owner's Response: Thanks so.much for your feedback! Again so sorry about the water shut off and the tub issue. I have changed the listing to show shower only. The granite tub/shower only leaks a little in the open garage below and as i mentioned, would not have been a problem if you had used it as a tub.

This was an AMAZING place to stay! The condo was exactly as described. I traveled with my husband, two children, and grandmother. Although this was a one bedroom there was plenty of other places to sleep including the bunk beds and the pull out couch. The condo was very spacious. My family enjoyed the pools and the immediate access to the beach. We had a great time and would definitely recommend to anyone! Thanks for sharing your space with my family!

A Surprise Around Every Corner. Galveston Island offers everything in a resort destination – beautiful accommodations, entertainment, shopping and 32 miles of GulfCoast beaches. Galveston ’s festivals, special events and attractions are enjoyable for Islanders and tourists alike. Fun & Sun! Galveston Island is famous for its many attractions. From Moody Gardens to Schlitterbahn to museums to shopping, we've got a vacation you won't soon forget! Galveston Island. Where the Texas Coast Begins. Perhaps Galveston's greatest attraction in recent years has been the advent of cruising. Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Princess Cruise Lines have all found a home at the Port of Galveston in recent years. These premier cruise ships will take passengers to various stops in Mexico, the Caribbean and more. Galveston Island Ferry, located on Hwy 87 (Ferry Road), continues to be one of Galveston's most popular attractions. Riders can park and ride the ferry or drive their vehicle aboard the ferry. Ferries run approximately every fifteen to twenty minutes and are free. The Great Storm, a multimedia presentation at the Pier 21 Theater, gives visitors a glimpse of the devastating 1900 Storm through a multi-image documentary experience. The 27-minute story gives actual accounts from diaries and letters of survivors during and after the storm. One of Galveston's most popular attractions is Moody Gardens, One Hope Boulevard. Work or play, this tropical destination is ideal for families and groups alike. Water your imagination and travel the oceans of the world at the Aquarium Pyramid. The Wasserfest Heated Indoor Season, October through mid-April, features more than a dozen heated attractions in a tropical, heated indoor oasis. Our newest attraction? The Galveston Island Historic Pleasue Pier! Landry's envisions the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier becoming a preferred family destination with the same greatness as Chicago's Navy Pier, Santa Monica Pier and Coney Island's Luna Park. There is a first-class, nostalgically themed amusement park, reminiscent of another historic landmark, Galveston's Electric Park. Traditional rides include a 36-foot diameter, double-decker carousel and a 100-foot tall Ferris Wheel, and for the more adventurous, a steel roller coaster with a 100-foot vertical climb, 200-foot tall swing recognized as the highest ride in Texas and classic bumper cars for adults and children. Amusements as well as the restoration of the historical element of the Pier are anticipated to bring back memories of what the destination was known for in the late 1940s. The Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum, located at Pier 19, gives visitors an opportunity to step aboard an offshore rig and experience how oil and gas is produced offshore. Videos, interactive displays and models take patrons to offshore locations all over the world. Seawolf Park, Pelican Island via Seawolf Parkway (51st Street), was built on an immigration station site and offers a three-story pavilion with a view of Galveston harbor, picnic sites, a playground area and a lighted fishing pier. A World War II submarine (the USS Cavalla), a destroyer escort (the USS Stewart), and other military hardware are open for tours. Of course, no visit to Galveston is complete without a savoring the Island's historic homes and museums, which give visitors a glimpse of an era featuring both wealth and prosperity, as well as disaster and change.
