Anniversary stay

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful time in this little second floor cottage, well kept and clean, very private and easy access to Lexington. They lent us bikes for a ride on the trail which is right across the road. Ate out a few times, and enjoyed getting to know the town better. Thanks Sue!

Lovely!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the Chessie Trail Chalet. This was a one night stay for us to celebrate a birthday with our daughter. The hosts are very friendly. We appreciated the use of kayaks for a lovely hour on the river. It suited us very well to make dinner in and enjoy an evening of playing games around the table. We would have enjoyed more had we had the time to stay longer.

Quaint

Nice chalet that was very clean and owner was pleasant! We enjoyed our time there and plenty of enough space. The owners cat came by and visited our porch and was quite friendly.

Disappointed

  • 1 of 5

The chalet was not very comfortable. There was one window AC unit which was not on when we arrived in 90 degree temps. Lighting was very poor--difficult to read in the living room. Bed was against two walls so it was difficult for the inside person to get in and out. Night light did not work. Windows are very small so don't see much of outside. Furnishings were not great. Inside hand banister was wobbly. Was not a place to celebrate an occasion. Would be difficult for more than two people. On plus side--sufficient towels and hot water and location was convenient.

Owner's Response: I apologize for not having the ac unit on when you arrived and that you found the chalet uncomfortable. There are two 5 star hotels in Lexington and the Omni Homestead Resort is located 40 miles away, you might want to try those places next time.

Perfectly located to both W&L and VMI

  • 5 of 5

We were in town for the weekend at a sports camp at W&L and wanted something other than a hotel room. We came across this property less than 2 miles from W&L and was lucky to find out it was still available that weekend. It's quietly located on a 5 acre farm overlooking a pasture and a stone's throw from the Maury river and Chessie Rail trail too. The accommodations met our every need. The place was quiet, clean, well stocked and had very comfortable bedding. We look forward to returning again someday.
