Our favorite family vacation property

We have stayed at this property since 2020. The owners are fantastic and we always have an amazing time. We had beautiful weather this week and caught a lot of really big catfish from the dock. We can’t wait to return next year.

Great Stay

Wonderful stay with our family. Pictures on listing do not reflect how nice the house is. House looks much nicer in person. Some pro tips for the house: dock is great, can accommodate center counsel boat with t-top. Dock is a slight walk with stairs at top and bottom of hill. Drive way does have circle so you can pull in with boat. It’s tight but works. Beds are great! House is stocked. Check in process does have you meet host which is different but was quick and painless. Would stay again!

Hidden cameras and frustrating circumstances

The home is beautiful, clean, and located in a really cool area. On check in day the host mentioned they would like to meet in person to hand the keys off, our arrival time was uncertain and we were unhappy with the check in process. The host did not respond to our delays in arrival with an updated check in process and left the keys under the front mat without telling us this. Once inside a contract was on the counter expected to be filled and returned to the host, with VRBO coverage this felt suspicious and unnecessary. The longer we stayed at this house the more we realized there were hidden cameras in the trees, bird boxes, and surrounding areas pointed at the home, into windows, and in common areas outside. This was not disclosed on the listing and made us all feel uneasy. Bare bone amenities at this home as well, first time I have stayed at a rental property that did not provide basic shower supplies, coffee maker with no coffee, and no basic cooking supplies. These amenities are not expected but have become the minimum a host can provide. Again this beautiful home is located in a great place but with the hidden circumstances/frustrations I would book this place with caution.

Our family had a great time! There is a public boat launch very close to the property. The owners were very nice. My grand baby left her baby doll at the house and the owners mailed it to us.

Great Lake Property

The house was nicely appointed and very clean. Hosts were helpful and hospitable. We spent a beautiful Labor Day weekend on the lake. Very peaceful and great fishing. The double decker dock had great views and boat ramp was close by. Look forward to coming back.

Simply wonderful!

My Wife, two brothers, and one sister along with her husband went to memorial services for another sister's husband. It was last minute, the Hosts were so gracious and accommodating. What a beautiful setting with everything you might need. Plenty of wildlife observation with peace and quiet. It was the perfect setting for family gatherings and sharing stories. Thanks, Nancy and Kelvin.

Lake escape

Such a lovely well built home. Perfect size. Everything we needed. We brought most of our food and used the grocery in Lincolnton for a few frozen items. About 10 miles away. Bait and tackle store 1 mile away. Convenient for us to fish when we wanted. The weather was ideal, with a breeze and we had plenty of shade from the hardwood trees. Bugs go along with summer. Bug spray is a most. Look forward to another stay. The walk to the dock is worth the amazing view and peaceful surroundings. Bring your floats. Wooden stairs and boardwalk make the walk easier.

Absolutely gorgeous and amazing.

We absolutely loved our stay here. Kelvin was so nice and gave a great tour of the home and was very easy to work with throughout the process. What a gorgeous and inviting home. Highly recommend watching the sunrise from the dock with a nice cup of coffee. We will definitely stay again. Thank you Nancy and Kelvin!

Overall, we enjoyed this quaint east Georgia getaway

The host met us at the home and gave us a tour of the property along with a detailed description of the home. It was a nice personal touch. The home was neat, clean, and comfortable, with enough room for us, our two kids plus grandmom. The kitchen was more than adequate for our needs, which included cooking a traditional Thanksgiving meal. The property was very scenic. The top deck of the dock provided an amazing platform for us to stargaze at night. Being from the city we had never seen such a brilliant night sky. Absolutely breathtaking. The main drawback is that the home’s description needs to be updated. There were a few differences between the listing and the rental agreement, as well as some unexpected rules. The property owners do not allow any fires anywhere – including candles. The fireplace (wood-burning stove) is listed as an amenity but renters cannot use it. In addition, there was no table on the back porch despite explicit mention of one. It would have been nice to have had a meal out there since the view was so wonderful. Future renters should understand how isolated the house is. There is a small tackle shop just up the road that carries a few basic necessities, but for any real grocery shopping or restaurant options, one needs to travel 20-25 minutes to either Lincolnton or Washington, or to a larger town (with better grocery options) one needs to go about 30-35 minutes away to Elberton for a large Ingles grocery store (including a Starbucks) and Walmart. Renters unfamiliar with the area should arrive during daylight hours as the roads leading to the home do not have lights and deer are numerous. Arriving early will also allow people to assess their grocery needs as we found that the house did not have some of the basics such as cooking oil or aluminum foil. Despite its remote location the home is located within a small neighborhood with homes on either side. Still, it was very quiet and peaceful. Overall the property worked well for us, but because of the steep slope at the back of the property, it would not have been as usable if our children were younger. This is definitely a place for either fishing or for indoor games and activities. Despite the isolation the internet worked well as did cell service in the house. Once away from the cell phone booster, however, service was very spotty at best. All in all, we enjoyed our time and made some great memories. We appreciate the Evans family sharing their home with us.

Long Weekend Get away at the Lake

We enjoyed our time at the lake! The house was very clean and nice and we had everything we needed. The owners were very kind and showed us around the property and where everything was and how to use everything. Beautiful spot on the lake! Not great cell or wifi service if that is a must but not too big a deal for us.

Quiet, secluded and exceptional well stocked house.

This is a great place to stay especially if you desire lake access and a quiet surrounding. The house is immaculate, well stocked and has all the imeneties you would find at home. Kelvin and Nancy were very accommodating of our dogs especially since they are older, calm and well trained. The back deck is fantastic as well as the front porch. One note: it's quite a hike down to the boat dock with many stairs and about a 40-50 foot drop from the house. Fortunately, we only had to traverse it once each day to get to the boat. Double decker so the boat was covered from the elements, a big plus. You are about 20-30 minutes from conveniences like grocery stores and restaurants but everything you need to cook meals at home is provided, including a gas grill, so that wasn't a problem for us. Overall, this property more than met our expectations and we highly recommend it.

Serene lake getaway

Absolutely a 5-star experience! Beautiful house is comfortable, quiet, and superbly furnished. It's like staying in a model home instead of a rental house. Be prepared for a bit of a challenge to tote all your lake equipment back and forth to the dock due to the descent from the house to the dock. But its well worth the effort! Owner was very friendly and accommodating to us with a special pet request. We will definitely put this property high on our list for a revisit.

Beautiful Lake House

We loved it!

Property was great. Stocked better than any place we’ve stayed before. The only thing we didn’t find was a potato peeler. There was a lot of steps to the boat dock but, we needed the exercise anyway. The kids were freaked out by the 3 large palmetto roaches on the fireplace and the little catapillars on the floors. The house was very clean and we would recommend it to anyone.

Our 2nd Stay!

We love staying here. Everything was so clean and spacious. The lake is perfect for tubing and fishing right in front of the dock. The pathway to the lake and back is tough but it makes you feel better for eating all those snacks. Owners are very kind and helpful!

Restful spring break

This was our 4th visit to this property. We absolutely adore the home, the lake, and the very gracious owners. We look forward to returning during the summer months to swim and fish some more.

Great house and location

This house was exactly as described. It had everything that we needed. The back porch was great with lots of seating and a swing. The bed was very comfortable. The lake was beautiful and it had a great dock for our pontoon boat. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The location was very quiet. We definitely would stay here again.
