Top rated Lake Austin spa is minutes away, rent paddle boards at the park down the road, or paddle our kayaks to the nature preserve across the lake and hike up to a waterfall. Our sand volleyball court is regulation size, we have a water trampoline, and diving board. But the serenity of this property may lead you to R&R and forgo all that activity - the screened in porch with antique iron day beds and desk beckons as a writer's retreat. Custom built with cedar flooring and rugged beams. Feels like middle of nowhere but great restaurants (sushi, Mexican, Steiner Ranch Steakhouse) are in the neighborhood, famous sunsets at the Oasis on Lake Travis 7 miles away, and 30 minutes from downtown Austin.
2 BR, 1 Bath, with sleeping loft too - sleeps 6. Close to spa & paddle-boarding

About Shelly Priebe
I grew up in a dreadfully nondescript area of Illinois (cornfields) but my parents wanted more than anything to live on the water and even though they earned a modest income as teachers they succeeded! In third grade we moved into a lakefront home in Central Illinois and it was THE gathering place for my friends as I grew up. They gave me the gift of prioritizing a water based lifestyle. Chuck and I bought this property when we got engaged in 1988 and our 4 children ages 22 to 9 relish the lifestyle I did as a child.
Shelly Priebe purchased this House in 1988
Why Shelly Priebe chose Lake Austin Village
We fell in love with this ethereal part of Lake Austin and bought our home in 1988. It was 2 BR/1Bath with gold shag carpet and we were in heaven. Have added on to our home many times and we built the guest house in 2004 hoping to lure out of state grandparents. We failed at that but have loved being able to host many travelers, church youth retreat weekends, you name it!
What makes this House unique
Every piece of furniture hand picked over time from visits to the semi-annual Round Top antique fair except for the custom made cedar dining table with benches. Nothing matches but everything soothes in this eclectic and comfortable home. Want some activity? A sand volleyball court awaits. Or kayak across the lake and hike up to a waterfall.

Relaxed home on beautiful Lake Austin.
This beautiful location is one of a kind. Usually only million dollar homes line Lake Austin. Although we came at Christmas, we still kayaked and spent long afternoons on the dock just reading and enjoying the views of the water and natural beauty. Our dogs were welcomed and they played with the host's dogs and enjoyed snooping around the property.
The home is well appointed and the design was well thought out. The owners, who live just yards away in the main house, treated us like family. We had a great experience.
This is a crazy sweet review. Glad you loved our unpretentious abode as much as we do. I count my blessings every day for our little slice of paradise on Lake Austin.
great spot quiet relaxing wonderful hosts and dogs
Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful treehouse with us. The weather was beautiful for Thanksgiving and we got lots of reading, walking and rest. Our daughters young dog loved racing in the volleyball court with yours and we got some great video of them. This is a perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. Loved the furnishings and wish I had your creative design talents. The O'Shea family
We LOVED having you, and are sad to see you go. Your sweet treats were thoughtful gifts.....you sure made our day multiple times throughout the stay, and we will blame you for a few extra holiday pounds! ~Shelly & Chuck
We really enjoyed the stay and it's such a cute and inviting place. We have fun with the volleyball area and having access to the kayaks. What a beautiful location!
Your family was a JOY! Come back.
Shelly and Chuck
(and our dogs will miss playing with your kids all day - they slept better than ever during your stay.)
Our family was evacuated from our home due to a gas leak and needed last min accommodations for the week. This was the perfect peaceful home away from home. Owners were very friendly and accommodating. Hope to be back another time under different circumstances.
hosts are very helpful
Your family sure seemed to be having lots of fun. The kids were almost immediately on the water trampoline and soon the grown ups, too! I had long work days during your stay, so barely got to see you, but the glimpses looked like you were living it up on the lake!
Love/ I’ll be back.
We enjoyed our time there. My doggie daughter Bree enjoyed playing with Dude. (Shelly’s Lab) We loved the lake and the fishing. I’m not much on reviews; I will say this, we will be back. Shelly was the best!
BTW my first time trying this; HomeAway. First time to Lake Travis too.
It felt like Amanda and I had always been neighbors. I looked forward to our chats when I got home from work and we crossed paths. Just for clarification, we live on Lake Austin, but Lake Travis dams into Lake Austin just three miles upstream for us. Maybe all the fish were in Lake Travis Amanda?! :)
