Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10-11)

Kickback, relax and enjoy the sound of the Ocean in our immaculate, nearly new Cape Cod Cottage. Built in 2006 our home was inspired by my lovely wife Valerie who as a child spent many summer vacations with her family 'At the Cape'. Flexibility is the key word when describing our home because it can be a cozy get away for two or a family reunion for ten.

We are a short 2 minute walk to the beach where crashing waves and beautiful sunsets are sure to amaze and inspire. Take romantic walks on the beach or if you already did that and now you have the 'kids' bring a lawn chair, a bottle of wine (beer works too) and some beach toys. Whatever your plan is nothing beats a day at the beach especially if you don't have to drive home!

When your day at the beach comes to an end, take a nice relaxing hot outdoor shower, mix a cocktail and fire up the BBQ. Life is good!

About Mike Gansen

Valerie and I have been together for 10 years now and we have 3 children ages 3-7 so we understand the importance of the 'getaway' from our busy lives. we love to take the kids to the coast and create the pages of memories that will make up the book of our life but, it is the time spent and the memories created with the one you fell in love with that is the glue that holds those pages together.

Mike Gansen purchased this house in 2006

Why Mike Gansen chose Central Coast

We love Florence. The old town shopping, Dune buggy rides, Horse back riding, Golfing, Beach combing, Whale watching, Hiking I could go on and on. Bottom line is Val and I both felt Florence is a place we could build a lifetime of 'fun'memories with our family.

What makes this house unique

Our home is nearly new so it is 'nice and tight' what i mean by that is when its cold outside its nice and warm inside because the doors and windows don't leak it has a forced air heating system and a Lopi wood burning stove (firewood included) all the modern appliances, 2 car garage and a fenced yard for the pooch!

Great house, close to beach

  • 3 of 5

At first sight, house did not appear well kept. Windows were dirty (which we cleaned so the sun would shine in) and the gate was broken. Upon entry inside the home showed it was clean, well decorated and furnished. Kitchen was well stocked with necessary supplies (minus no coffee filters). Plenty of towels and linens available. Stains on the carpeting both upstairs and down, and worn furnishings showed that this home does not get upgrades often, but still provided us with ample comforts. Beds need pillow-top mattress covers (not very comfortable), so bring your own if you have them. Walk to the beach is very close, with additional beach toys and wind tent, wagon provided by owners. Outdoor shower a great bonus! We really enjoyed having a fire out back and roasting marshmallows with the kids and singing songs. Great family weekend had by all.

VERY cute and clean inside, outside needs WORK

  • 4 of 5

This house when you walk up, makes you wonder about your choices in life. With ratty old peeling fence paint, a desperate need to be pressure washed to remove the green film on everything, and a broken and rusted out bottom hinge on the entry way gate.... I was in a panic as I was about to have my new in laws arrive, and didnt know why I rented such a ratty old looking house.

But once inside I forgot about the outside. The interior is immaculate. Clean, well kept, cute, and homey. Just like the pictures. Board games and dvds, a cute(mostly) fenced in back yard, with outdoor shower and fire pit. 2 bottom rooms, one is the master (1 bed) which is attached to the main bathroom, the other has a bunk bed and a full size mattress. Upstaurs has a bathroom with sink and toilet and 2 queen sized beds with lots of space. Kitchen fully stocked, all household items you need, and a few chairs for outside. If you are coming to relax in florence and want a place thats a few min walk to the beach, you've got it. But beware if you have snobby inlaws coming to stay who might freak out over some mold and tattered old fencing. Oh and theres 2 dedicated parking spots, as well as inside the 2 car garage. Nothing elses as this is so near the beach people people park everywhere to run and frolick on the sand. Owner was nice and polite upon contact.

Nice house with plenty of room and short walk to the beach

  • 3 of 5

The house is a little close to the road and weekend traffic can be a bit much. Beds and pillows need replacement and there is a slight smell of a dog, otherwise a great family place.

A sweet happy house.

  • 5 of 5

We love this house! Eight of us stayed for three nights, for a family gathering. We had 4 teenagers in the downstairs room, and two college students in the loft. The open floor plan of the living/dining area was very condusive to gathering together, while the rest of the floor plan allowed folks to have a little space of their own. The kitchen was very comfortable to work in, and is well appointed. The house is bright, tastefully decorated and creatively painted. There is also a little nook under the stairs where a child could sleep or escape to. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was also a half bath in the loft. It was more comfortable than I expected! It is a very happy house! The beach is one of my favorites to bring our dogs to, so we all got to play! If I were to change anything, I would fix the missing panel in the fence, give it a coat of paint, and possibly plant some shrubs in the front, as a focal point. Really, it served us well, and I got multiple requests from the kids to visit again.

Super cute house!

  • 4 of 5

The house is adorable. A little dirty, hairballs in the corners and mold/mildew in the window frames. Spilled chocolate milk in the kids room window that wasn't cleaned up. And no paper towels. Also, the upstairs toilet needed cleaned and there was no toilet paper up there. Being the one who found that made me feel right at home as the mom! haha! Anyway, other than that, it was a great place. We really liked it there and would most likely go back. Thanks!

There were no suprises with regard to the house...it looked just like the photos!

  • 4 of 5

Our whole family really enjoyed our stay in Florence. Great location, nice place, well equipped. Just make sure to get your direcions and key codes before you head to the coast...we had no cell reception or internet coverage and it made for a bit of a challenging and stressfull arrivial. It all worked out great!! Thanks Mike! The McDougal Family
