About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10-11)

Kickback, relax and enjoy the sound of the Ocean in our immaculate, nearly new Cape Cod Cottage. Built in 2006 our home was inspired by my lovely wife Valerie who as a child spent many summer vacations with her family 'At the Cape'. Flexibility is the key word when describing our home because it can be a cozy get away for two or a family reunion for ten.

We are a short 2 minute walk to the beach where crashing waves and beautiful sunsets are sure to amaze and inspire. Take romantic walks on the beach or if you already did that and now you have the 'kids' bring a lawn chair, a bottle of wine (beer works too) and some beach toys. Whatever your plan is nothing beats a day at the beach especially if you don't have to drive home!

When your day at the beach comes to an end, take a nice relaxing hot outdoor shower, mix a cocktail and fire up the BBQ. Life is good!

About Mike Gansen

Valerie and I have been together for 10 years now and we have 3 children ages 3-7 so we understand the importance of the 'getaway' from our busy lives. we love to take the kids to the coast and create the pages of memories that will make up the book of our life but, it is the time spent and the memories created with the one you fell in love with that is the glue that holds those pages together.

Mike Gansen purchased this house in 2006

Why Mike Gansen chose Central Coast

We love Florence. The old town shopping, Dune buggy rides, Horse back riding, Golfing, Beach combing, Whale watching, Hiking I could go on and on. Bottom line is Val and I both felt Florence is a place we could build a lifetime of 'fun'memories with our family.

What makes this house unique

Our home is nearly new so it is 'nice and tight' what i mean by that is when its cold outside its nice and warm inside because the doors and windows don't leak it has a forced air heating system and a Lopi wood burning stove (firewood included) all the modern appliances, 2 car garage and a fenced yard for the pooch!

A sweet happy house.

  • 5 of 5

We love this house! Eight of us stayed for three nights, for a family gathering. We had 4 teenagers in the downstairs room, and two college students in the loft. The open floor plan of the living/dining area was very condusive to gathering together, while the rest of the floor plan allowed folks to have a little space of their own. The kitchen was very comfortable to work in, and is well appointed. The house is bright, tastefully decorated and creatively painted. There is also a little nook under the stairs where a child could sleep or escape to. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was also a half bath in the loft. It was more comfortable than I expected! It is a very happy house! The beach is one of my favorites to bring our dogs to, so we all got to play! If I were to change anything, I would fix the missing panel in the fence, give it a coat of paint, and possibly plant some shrubs in the front, as a focal point. Really, it served us well, and I got multiple requests from the kids to visit again.

Super cute house!

  • 4 of 5

The house is adorable. A little dirty, hairballs in the corners and mold/mildew in the window frames. Spilled chocolate milk in the kids room window that wasn't cleaned up. And no paper towels. Also, the upstairs toilet needed cleaned and there was no toilet paper up there. Being the one who found that made me feel right at home as the mom! haha! Anyway, other than that, it was a great place. We really liked it there and would most likely go back. Thanks!

Our whole family really enjoyed our stay in Florence. Great location, nice place, well equipped. Just make sure to get your direcions and key codes before you head to the coast...we had no cell reception or internet coverage and it made for a bit of a challenging and stressfull arrivial. It all worked out great!! Thanks Mike! The McDougal Family

Exactly what we were expecting...a cozy, comfortable, family-centered beach cottage on the coast!

  • 5 of 5

This home was absolutely perfect for our two families (two couples with our 4 adult children and 2 small pups in tow) to spend quality time. We hosted a local seafood BBQ and s'mores over the "beach" fire in the back yard for the other family in town. We wanted for nothing. The house provided all the quirky necessities we were looking for. We walked to the beach every morning, we're just minutes from town and the casino. It's not a mansion, but comfortably slept 8 adults. Could easily sleep another 2 adults. Beats a segregated hotel ANY day! We were forced to spend quality time together, drinking our morning coffee, working a puzzle, playing board games, and watching the Olympics. The strong WiFi kept us in touch with the outside world when necessary. Florence was a perfect playground for our families. We would absolutely rent this home again!

Great location, beautiful home - just a few updates away from 5 stars!

  • 4 of 5

My in-laws, 2 young children and I stayed here while my husband was in Eugene at the Olympic Trials. The location was ideal - just a short walk across a not too busy street and you're at the beach. Also just a quick 2 miles away from Fred Meyer, which had everything we could need, and another 3 miles down the road was the beautiful Old Town of Florence, full of great shops and restaurants. We appreciated the layout of the house, which was great for families - the tile floors throughout the house made clean-up a breeze with kids, great updated kitchen for cooking with tons of pots and pans, spacious laundry room, beautiful master bedroom, etc. The extra half bath in the sleeping loft was great so that our 4 year old had easy access to a potty at night without having to go downstairs. We also loved the sand pit right outside of the glass doors leading out back - we could let our son play out there with his toys as long as he wanted and keep an easy eye on him. There were also great kids books and toys around, which made our stay extra enjoyable.

Just a few things would have made this a 5 star place - the TV and DVD player were pretty old and the DVD player wouldn't show movies without lots of skips and crackles. Also, the back patio is wonderful and some seating furniture or a dining table out there would have been great so that we could enjoy the gorgeous Florence weather! The bedding upstairs was clean and comfortable, but had some worn patches and holes - some fresh, updated bedding could really make a huge difference.

We loved our stay and would absolutely rent this place again - the house, and the town of Florence, were lovely! Lots of great family memories made.
