Overview

About the property

2 bedroom/2 bath. Sleeps up to 6 comfortably. Fireplace! Private!

Gentry's Rest Stop-2 is your one-stop vacation playground! HOT TUB JUST ADDED! With great motorcycle access, this air conditioned cabin is the perfect complement to Gentry's Rest Stop-1, the 'Big House' also located on the same property. This cabin is newly remodeled and is a natural for any overflow from the 12-13 occupancy larger home that can be rented for large family reunions or shared vacations, yet intimate enough for two. The master bedroom has a king size bed. Bedroom #2 bedroom has unique bunk beds; the upper mattress is a twin size and the lower one is an actual full size mattress. There is a queen bed in the den/guest area. If you do rent the larger home, use of the 8-person hot tub in its own private setting is available at no extra cost. GRS-2 is also pet friendly! Everything's included in the kitchen and the cabin overlooks a wonderful bubbling creek that will lull you to sleep at night; restful to sit to by day. Outdoors there is a firepit, picnic table, grill and Jonathan Creek is right in the backyard! Very easy access year round. Guests have horseback riding, snow skiing and both water & snow tubing in town.

WANT TO KNOW MORE?: Gentry's Rest Stop-2 is professionally decorated by the owner, a well known interior designer, in a charming country decor and the outside has also been lovingly tended for picture-taking for your memory books. Four-season and holiday decorations contribute to the coziness of the home and children love to view some of the local wildlife close up that is part of the area. Gentry's have their own 'resident' elk, aptly named Bullwinkle, who actually comes to visit occasionally and loves to pose for pictures! Raccoon and squirrels scoot among the trees as well as hummingbirds, butterflies and fireflies at night. Guests are well taken care of as the Gentry's live on-site and are available to supply your every need should one arise. The Gentrys are mindful of your seclusion and separateness and you can be assured your privacy is guaranteed. There's plenty of parking for vehicles and if you want to trailer your motorcycle or ATV, there is more than enough room for turn-arounds on the gravel driveway. Easy access all year and ATV and motorcycle enthusiasts will find many trails to explore.

WHAT'S THERE TO DO?: Nearby attractions include the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway with miles of never-ending views of the beautiful mountains and valleys; Great Smoky Mountain Railroad in Dillsboro, Biltmore Estate with its winery and garden tours, hiking, shopping, antiquing, whitewater rafting, tubing (both water and snow), horseback riding and of course eating at the many restaurants around the area. Only about 30 minutes away is Cherokee where you will find Harrah's Casino, and find an authentic pair of moccasins or other Native American gifts for that special person. Visit Cataloochee Valley where you can get up close and personal with the elk that were reintroduced to our area. Fontana Lake is about 45 minutes away where you can rent paddle boats or go fishing and swim in the cool mountain waters. Golfing is quite close for you duffers and horseback riding is a sure bet to enjoy fall foilage in autumn. Maggie Valley's very own Ghost Town in the Sky is now reopened and features a new ZIPLINE for you thrill-seekers! Dollywood, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge are about an hour away.

Easter Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Long weekend with the kids to start Easter Break. The area and creek were perfect. The house was as advertised and well stocked. Highlights were seeing an Elk cross the road as we were arriving Friday night, conversation with Mr. Gentry with him giving me the history of the property & area, time in the hot tub while listening to the creek and very minimal traffic in the area. I also enjoyed cycling down through Maggie Valley a couple afternoons while the family napped. We will definitely return.

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time doing what we went up there for, almost nothing. The cabin was decorated with the Christmas spirit. Got about 10" of snow that made it even better. Even though it was cold ( o ) Thursday morning with high 18 we slept with window cracked so we could here the creek. Cabin had everything that you need. We plan on going back and take ATV. Thank you Gentry's and Kathy hope to see yall again.

Clean & comfortable for family of 5 + dog!

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay in this very clean cabin. It is in a quiet location and we found it to have everything that we needed for a beautiful stay. The lovely sound of the creek relaxes you in the day and helps you sleep at night. Or maybe it was sitting in the new Hot Tub that made us sleep so good. Our kids and dog enjoyed playing and building dams in the creek behind the cabin. While we enjoyed sitting on the deck, watching them, reading, and drinking a good glass of wine. Everything is so peaceful and tranquil, just perfect to relax. The owners live next door and are very helpful.

The Great Smokey National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway, and Cherokee are only minutes away. Lots of hiking trails are nearby, but not all of them are dog-friendly.

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

We loved this cabin. It was beautifully decorated, has everything you need. My husband's favorite part was sitting on the back porch listening to the rushing waters of the creek. We plan on coming back next year & staying longer.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful home. We really enjoyed ourselves.

An entire month in this cozy, comfy house.

  • 5 of 5

It was amazing. Everything that I could possibly need, I found tucked away in this place. It truly was like being at home with all my needed comforts only much more. Here I also had fantastically comfortable temperatures, the sounds of a lively stream, a porch with rocking chairs on which to drink my tea/coffee while listening to the stream and watching the humming birds. At night we had unexpected then highly anticipated visits from Bullwinkle the elk. Nothing to worry about with him--he completely ignored us while continuing to eat from Bobby's corn trough. My family also hit the jackpot with rides on the mountain back trails on "mules" driven by Rhonda and driven by Bobby. I have know Rhonda and Bobby for over 30 years and you couldn't have better people to rent from. I am already planning and looking forward to next year's trip.

Promise you will come back again to this cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is absolutely amazing. This was our second visit to maggie valley, the first time was only a weekend in January and as soon as we returned we booked again for February but this time a whole week. This cabin it's so beautiful, morning coffee on the back porch with the peaceful sound of the creek guys this is priceless. I have a 10,13 and 17 year old children and let me just say they all ready want to go back. We hardly watch tv or use the internet, we always had things to go, The cabin has it all. The owners are very sweet and so helpful thanks to them our vacation was even better with all the info of where to go and visit. Everything it's so close, even Asheville it's only 30 minute drive. I can sit here all day and tell you what a great experience we had but it's you're turn to go and see it for you're self. I really, really recommend this cabin to anyone on this planet and promise you will come back again. Thank you Rhonda and Bobby your guys are awesome.

Owner's Response: Michelle and Tony, you are so right in describing our smaller cabin, Gentry's Rest Stop-2, and we are very happy that you were able to experience both the larger cabin (Gentry's Rest Stop-1) as well as this smaller one for your smaller group. As in GRS-1, we have provided every convenience for our guests and we are pleased you enjoyed your second stay with us. Come back any time you can, especially think about this coming summer when the heat and humidity are at its worst in Florida. Our mountains are about 20 degrees cooler to give you a break. We'll see you all soon! Rhonda and Bobby Gentry - Gentry's Rest Stop-2
