Perfect vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My family, including teenage daughter and two dogs, and I stay in that cabin and really like it. Cabin is very cozy, very clean and very well organized ( hope other cabin owners will not be mad at me). Everything is ready to go there and we had all we can think of to make living there easy. Our gods also like to place and fenced yard is very convenient. River is just next to you and very relaxing. Thank you George!

Things to do: Murphy has cute little downtown, Franklin nice gem and jewelry store, and also road to Franklin going thru high elevation, the folk school has a big field where dogs can run a little, and Chunky Gal Stables is the best place to for horseback riding.

Wonderful cabin, beautiful river, great location!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is even better than advertised; the pictures do not do it justice! The cabin itself is beautiful and has everything you could need including a fully-outfitted kitchen, tv with Directv and super comfy bed and couches. We loved grilling out and then eating on the screened porch where we could see and hear the river. Also, it was invaluable to us that we were able to bring our dog. This is such a great feature for those of us who consider our dogs family. She had the best time playing in the river and sunning herself on the beach. (So did we!) The street is very quiet and private but it's only a few minutes from downtown Murphy with its restaurants and antique stores. Such a cute little town; we visited the brewery twice. There's an Ingles and a Walmart close by too for any grocery needs. Also, everyone in town was so nice and friendly and helpful. This includes George; he was wonderful. He made sure that we had everything we needed and gave some great suggestions on things to do and places to eat and made sure that we knew he was available if we needed anything... but then gave us our space to relax and enjoy our vacation. We fell in love with Murphy and with the cabin and plan to definitely return soon. You will not be disappointed if you book this! Highly recommend!

Beautiful, peaceful home -John C. Campbell trip

  • 5 of 5

After a stressful trip and late arrival to Murphy, we were greeted by George at the road. We had passed the house in the dark. He knew it would be us and came out to direct us. We unloaded our things and were able to make it to the Campbell school for the last couple hours of the 'Hammer in'. The house is just beautiful. We *absolutely* had everything we needed in this house for the weekend. My husband and I slept so well here. We think it was for a number of reasons-George lives right across the street and was ready to help in any way needed, this is basically a gated community and it is very very quiet, and you can hear the river (small rapids) flowing with the window opened a bit. We felt very safe and at ease. We met so many wonderful people on this trip. George was definitely one of them. We brought our three teenage children with us. They weren't all interested in the blacksmithing events. But the wifi and Direct TV all they really needed. We took a couple walks down the road and along the Hiawassee. So lovely. Thank you George. :)

Cabin relatively nice but fishing not

  • 2 of 5

This cabin is a in a fairly quite area so you can hear the various woodland sounds and the river near by. The river is across the street from the cabin. There is stairs that will take you to the main area of the cabin, and another set of stairs going up to the master bedroom. Beautiful fireplace and living room. Lights were a little dim though even after adjusting them with the switch. If you have a favorite pan, cutting board ,knife you might want to bring them with you as we could not find a no-stick frying pan. The screened in porch was nice. The fishing part of it was poor during our stay. Caught a small bass and 2 large carp, no trout.

Owner's Response: We are sorry these guests did not enjoy their stay. If they had said something while there, most of their complaints could have been easily taken care of. The cabin does have 5 cutting boards including a very large wooden one, there were 2 non-stick frying pans although there should have been 3 (the third has since been replaced) and there is a set of Henkle knives, but some were in a drawer instead of the wooden block. The bread knife was missing and has been replaced. How none of these items could be found is a mystery. Also please note that the "street" is a one lane, dead end, private driveway with no traffic.

Wonderful relaxing place with lots of things for family to do!

  • 5 of 5

This place was wonderful. Beautiful view of the river and tons of items available in the cabin to make the stay enjoyable. Things like dishwasher soap, spices, oil, coffee filters, condiments, t.p., laundry soap, etc. all make it a much easier stay. We enjoyed using the fire pit next to the river almost every night. The kids bought inner tubes and went tubing down the river again and again. We went to nearby Fire's Creek, Hanging Dog, and Jackrabbit Parks to swim, tube, and fish. The master bedroom loft is mostly closed off so there is still plenty of privacy for whoever sleeps up there. Everything was clean and comfortable!

Great place for family!

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful place for our Thanksgiving family dinner and retreat! We brought lots of stuff with us like paper towels, hand towels, knives, etc. because every time we rent a home/cabin it's usually only stocked with the minimum necessities (if that) but this place was STOCKED! We had everything we needed. It made it so much more relaxing and enjoyable. It's been upgraded nicely and was very clean. Our dog enjoyed the fenced yard and porch. He had a blast swimming in the creek as well. The patio/fire pit area by the water was very enjoyable. It was all we needed and more! I definitely recommend this quiet, relaxing home!
