This property was noisy at night With a Bar 2 doors down. Apartment is a bit run down! Since the rate is quite high for a 1 night stay we were expecting a more updated apartment and we wanted a quiet place to sleep We did not get that

Charleston Historic Area Home

The home was clean, neat and close to restaurants and shopping. We just needed a place to sleep and it was that.

Girls Trip

Property and location were great! Within walking distance of alot of great shops and restaurants. Only draw back was the noise, not sure if it was the neighbors or coming from King st. But it went on into the early hours of the morning.

You can’t go wrong with this property!

The apartment was great—just as advertised. You cannot beat the location, steps to King Street. The owner was so accommodating—I had mistakenly booked the wrong dates and he worked with me to fix the situation. Above and beyond anything I expected.

A cozy authentic “old Charleston” apartment

The host is more than accommodating! The property is up two flights of stairs, so be prepared to get your steps in! The amenities are totally adequate for a stay with intention of taking advantage of all that Charleston has to offer. If your plan is to do lots of cooking, this is not the kitchen for you. But the place is comfortable and sweet. There is NO parking, so it is also not the place for you if you have a car. It is perfect if you will be catching the DASH, uber, Lyft, or biking to the many spots of interest that Charleston offers…We enjoyed our stay March 2025.

I sent this email to the owners, no response.I. The smell of cinnamon was ridiculous. Your home has a diffuser emitting that odor and you accepted no responsibilty or brought in an air cleaner to help. My toiletries bags still smell like cinnamon.(I let them know upon arrival, they did nothing to correct the overwhelming scent of cinnamon)2. Towels. The microfiber towels are absolutely unacceptable. They are made of polyester and stick to the skin and don't have drying properties.3. The outside lighting upon check in. The stairs were wet, and we were in complete darkness trying to manuever around that car in the driveway with all our luggage. My friend actually fell going up the steps, cut her thumb and has a large green and purple bruise on her chin.4. The ice trays were completely empty at check in. After driving 5 hours in the rain, I was not able to pour myself a cocktail. 5. 2 hangers per room? No hooks on doors in the bedrooms or bathrooms. Putting a dresser in the closet meant I couldn't even hang my clothing.6. Coffee pods. There were no regular or decaf pods. All flavored and one dark roast.7. The clock in the living room did not work8. The note suggesting we leave a tip for your staffer when we paid a cleaning fee. SO anappropriate.The location was great, the no available parking, not great. The owners need to pay attention to detail. I read another review that wasn't great and they responded that some people just want to complain. I just wanted a reply.

Sorry, you felt this way Shelly! We certainly did respond right away, including replacing the lightbulb in question immediately. If we are to be blamed for the weather (wet steps), nice smelling air freshener (cinnamon scent), and an option to leave a tip then so be it. We will be happy to have you find another place to stay in the future :) Wishing you the best!

Good location but in run down condition.

The unit was in an easy to find location. Our unit was upstairs in the house.It is an older home, so the floors and walls have old charm. However, there is very little insulation for sound, which is unfortunate since there is a very active late night club next door, which means there are loud music and people outside until very early hours. This must be expected because they even provided earplugs on the nightstands.After first entering the unit, we were greeted by a very stained and harsh looking carpet in the living room area. I let the owner know immediately. I received an apology and explanation, but no offer of a cost reduction. No repair either.A day later I let the owner know the toilet needed attention since the internal mechanism is not closing, causing the water to run constantly, which would likely cost them a high water bill. Being a host myself I let them know it needed a replacement flapper. Nothing happened. No repair.Through the 5 night stay we noticed a foul odor in the shower and the tub was not draining. Finally, my wife investigated and found a disgusting amount of hair and gunk in the drain. I doubt it has ever been cleaned. It’s clean now! I let the owner know. This time no response at all.I notified VRBO but they said they would not help at all.So, we had a 5 night stay in a loud and dirty unit for over 2,200 and no recognition or offer of refund at any level. This was a VERY disappointing experience, from both the owner and VRBO.

Unfortunately in the rental business you sometimes run across some who just dig for things to try to get their money back. Since there were no blatant issues, they had to dig into the bathroom drain to find something. We’ve been renting all year with no issues, but unfortunately some guests can’t be satisfied. Hope you had a good time in Charleston either way!
