About the property

This Legendary Dream home at the entrance to the 'Camano Island State Park' sits on its own bluff and is known for some of the most remarkable, unobstructed ocean views and privacy on the entire Island. A rare, one story, open craftsman style home, has huge picture windows from every room to give you breathtaking views of Puget Sound, the boats to and from Canada and the Island's sea and wildlife. This sacred home was custom built for his wife by Al Emerson, the first forest ranger on Camano Island. Enjoy the peaceful walk to the nearby famous 'Al Emerson Nature Trail', which was dedicated in his honor. This is the ONLY home available that is at the entrance to the state park, yet is secluded and quiet.

Huge RV/Boat garage, vast circular drive and private Gym, completes this perfect retreat. The serene, private deck that wraps around most of the house overlooking Puget Sound, often catches many of our majestic rainbows!

Heaven on Earth has arrived!

Due to the positioning of the property, you feel like you are ocean front, floating in the clouds with privacy as one of the main features, yet steps away from the magnificent Camano Island State Park. The Island even has its own 'airplane landing strip' for those who come by private plane.

This unpretentious home is furnished to make you feel like royalty, with a secluded water view master en suite which has a floor to ceiling hand carved 4 poster canopy bed, and a world famous Nikken magnetic mattress (which is endorsed by the World Federation of Chiropractics and may just give you the deepest, most healing sleep of your life). Sliding glass doors open to the wrap around deck.

At the opposite end of the home is the second custom furnished bedroom with its own full bath with views of the ocean and trees from the sleigh bed. The entrance to the garage and gym, with its own bathroom, is right next to this bedroom.

For you rugged, outdoor types, the attached huge RV/boat garage with its own full bath and gymnasium has a door to the water side of the property. Hiking, fishing, crabbing, boating and picnic areas are conveniently located within walking distance.

Elger Bay Grocers, a short drive from the home, is now open late for the Island with its own store, café, gas station and drive through coffee kiosk. It now also delivers! Camano's own golf course is just a short drive within minutes of the home, next to the town center with various shops and another grocery store.

If you are fortunate enough to be here over the fourth of July or New Years Eve, the firework shows over the water and Whidbey Island will take your breath away!

As the deer, bunnies, bald eagles and other wildlife stop by to visit, be sure to greet them because this is also a designated registered wildlife habitat owned by the founder of one of the first all-volunteer, foster-home pet rescues of its kind in the country. We have bald eagles living in our trees and the tame deer roaming the grounds often expecting a snack! We leave deer food out for them much of the time that the bunnies and squirrels peacefully share. No Smoking in the home or on the grounds please as this is a' Registered Wildlife Habitat'.

When this vacation ends, perhaps with one of our many rainbows or deer smiling at you in your rear-view mirror, you will drive away feeling blessed and maybe even holding back a tear or two, as some of our guests have expressed!

Monthly or weekly rental is preferred and a free bottle of wine will be included with either!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Randi's home was exactly what we were seeking - two private bedrooms at opposite ends of a large house, a large central gathering area in the middle, and a killer view of Saratoga Passage. The rooms were spacious, the kitchen was well-equipped for 2-4 guests, and if it had been whale migration season all our free time would have been spent on the huge deck! Although other homes were nearby, we neither saw or heard anyone else - a very private oasis indeed. Randi was very helpful and communication was easy. This was a very restful retreat, and thanks so much for sharing with us, Randi. Hope to be back one of these days very soon!

Absolute Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

From the minute we walked into the home, we were bowled over by the stunning views from literally every room in the house. Everything was very clean and comfortable, with large bedrooms on either end of the house and a huge living area, dining area and kitchen in the middle for everyone to gather in. We were there with our teenage daughter and my parents to visit my brother who lives on Camano Island, so the home provided a nice place for all of us to be able to come together and visit.

The deck was our favorite place to have meals and watch the wildlife, including the bunnies, who came around often, the deer who were there almost every morning and evening, eagles, many other birds, and we were even lucky enough to see harbor porpoises and the transient pod of killer whales on two days!

The home is so well secluded, we didn't realize there were other neighbors until we went out on the water and looked back at the house and actually saw that there were homes nearby! When you are in the home and outside on the deck, there is only one neighbor you are remotely aware of.

We were sad to leave this serene, peaceful home, but we look forward to staying here again. We feel so fortunate to have found this home, and for our first vacation rental, we felt especially spoiled. We were really lucky to be able to work with Randi, who was so accommodating and pleasant.

clean, well-maintained sanctuary

  • 5 of 5

We had the best relaxing vacation recently at Randi's property on Camano. What a great location!

My wife and I spent a couple days exploring the beautiful state parks to which we were able to just walk. We had forgotten to bring our Discovery Pass (left it in our smaller car) and by walking there, we saved ourselves the day pass fee...a mere $10. But hey, every bit helps, right?

This very lovely house is quiet and private with a great deck where we were able to watch bunnies play, eagles soar, and fireworks across the water on Whidbey Island without the loud booms that freak out our dog. Our days there were spent exploring the island, the state parks, local farmers markets, and some of the interesting stuff up by Chuckanut. We polished off a flat of amazingly tiny, tender strawberries (from Schuh Farms) in 3 days between the two of us. Our evenings were spent cooking, catching up on reading, playing music, and enjoying the views in the evening light. But most importantly, this was a great place for us to relax and feel restored before heading home. Being surrounded by all the natural beauty helped me remember how incredible the Northwest really is. It was hard to leave.

Thanks, Randi, for making your home available for folks like us!

PS. It was cool to be able to see that tiny island that looks like a surfaced submarine from a different perspective. I'm pretty sure thats the one I've always been looking at from Rosario State Park.

Owner's Response: Well out of a seemingly endless stream of inquiries for the 4th of July weekend from people who were not the ideal match for me, I was even more thrilled to have found you! You and your 4 legged son were a dream come true, perfect fit for me and my sacred space! By the way, yes....that amazing little island I believe is called "Baby Island"...but don't quote me on it! Hope to have you all back, Randi

Randi's Camano Island Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Randi's place on Camano Island. When you open the front door and walk in, you are immediately faced with a breath-taking, panoramic view. The house is very comfortable, and there is a beautiful view from every window. We enjoyed reading the inspirational quotes Randi has placed around the house, and the decorations, especially the leprechaun, delighted us.

The description regarding the layout, location and amenities is accurate. The property is clean and well-maintained. Randi, the owner, is very courteous and supplied us with great customer service and a list of things to do around the area and places to dine.

This is a perfect place to unwind. The furniture is fabulous and very comfortable. The kitchen is well supplied, and it is easy to make your own meals. The first time we went out onto the wrap-around deck to use the BBQ, we were thrilled to observe a pair of eagles near the house. The tranquil sound of birds, the view of wild-life and the gorgeous setting will put anyone into a relaxed mood.

Randi is very professional, accommodating, and punctual at replying to any inquiry you may have. It was a pleasure getting to know Randi, and we all hope to be able to stay at her home again.

We highly recommend Randi's beautiful home.

Great place -- quiet, private, very clean, and fantastic water views

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased with our stay and had no complaints. VERY clean, spacious, QUIET, private, and with great water views. The home is wheelchair accessible (my brother, who uses a power chair, had no problems maneuvering around the house and onto the deck). The kitchen is nicely furnished for cooking most meals. The owner was great to work with and easy to communicate with -- very enthusiastic about us staying at her home. The house is only a short walk to the trails of the state park, and not much further to the beach. The pictures of the property were very accurate and not misleading at all.
