Overview

About the property

Townhome, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Whales Watch is a one bedroom, 1000 square foot wheel chair accessible beach front duplex just steps from the beach! Walk out the sliding glass door, and right on to the beach. Sitting at the furthest point out on Heceta Beach, it has sweeping ocean views from the Siuslaw River Jetty to the Heceta Head Lighthouse. Sit in the dark and watch the lighthouse light sweep through the kitchen & living room. Perfect for watching Whales, Bald Eagles, Osprey, Pelicans, Sea Lions and other assorted wildlife. If it we're any closer to the ocean you'd need a wet-suit. The ocean breeze beckons you to sit on the patio and soak in the view!

The spacious bedroom has a king size bed with Mediterranean Oak furniture a sitting area and it's own door to the bathroom. It also has an electric fireplace. The living room, kitchen and dining area is one large room right on the beach. There is a large hallway and utility room separating the two, with another entrance to the bathroom. The living room is furnished with comfortable overstuffed slip covered furniture and a mix of Antiques & Rattan. The love seat turns into a twin hide-a-bed and there is also a portable fold out twin bed. With a dining room table for 4, and a 2 person bar there's always a place to eat and enjoy the view. Electric Faux Fireplace adds to the ambiance. The kitchen is well stocked with everything from wine glasses, blender, to crock pot & turkey roaster. Microwave, frost free refrigerator, and an electric range.(sorry no dishwasher).

The owners parents were at one time, 'world travelers', so the furniture comes from around the world, and so do the Original Fine Art oil paintings. The 100 year old Bush & Gertz Cabinet Grand (upright) Piano is tuned & ready to have it's ivory's tickled. We've even thrown in some sheet music, but if you have a favorite bring it along.

About Leslie

We have lived here at Heceta Beach since 1994. Our house is a duplex, we live in half and the other half is our vacation rental. We enjoy sharing with others what we get to enjoy every day. My husband was from Milwaukee Wisconsin, via Texas & Alaska. And I was originally from Northern California but got here via Seoul Korea, Southern California, Ashland & Portland. We fell in love with the small town atmosphere, and the temperate climate. It may be rainy, but you don't have to shovel rain, and the Ocean Breezes keep it an even 70 in the summer.

Leslie purchased this townhome in 1988

Guestbook comments from the owner

This was our second stay at Seaweed. We love the kitchen, the master bedroom/bath and the convenience to the ocean. Its also a favorite, because we get to bring our dogs to enjoy the beach too!

Great location on the beach

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this home for 2 nights. It is the perfect location - right on the beach, with a view of the ocean from the family room and kitchen. The house was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. It had everything we needed and we really enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

We loved it. Everything was as described, the view was fantastic, the bed was uber comfy. Lots of great walks on the beach, and we really appreciated the quiet. No complaints...other than we wish we could have stayed a lot longer!!

Fantastic Anytime with Any Weather!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed an entire week and glad we did. The home turned out to be just that "our home". Very comfortable and perfectly located. Everything we could want in a home was at our fingertips!

First night we walked the beach right into our dinner reservations. The access to the beach could not have been better. We spent many hours playing games at the big round table and watching the waves come in with the ocean roar as the sound track. From here, we explored hiking as well. Our dog, loved the access to the beach as it was literally just steps out the door.

Thank You Whales Watch for a great memory!

The best for a weekend with our dogs!

  • 4 of 5

The views are fantastic! The beach access was fantastic! We didn't have a need for anything while we were there, pots, pans, everything! Pet friendly was also a big plus for us! Two tv's, games, binoculars, and other amenities made it a very nice place to stay.

One drawback for us was that the ceiling is thin enough that you can hear the people upstairs walking, moving around, etc., and they were up pretty late on our first night - well after 10:30pm. I did read that it was a 1st floor townhome but didn't realize how much we would be aware of the people upstairs.

Birthday get-away

  • 4 of 5

We were overwhelmed with the view! Saw pelicans, whales, hummingbirds and beautiful sunsets from this million dollar view. Amenities were outstanding! Downside was disappointing TV channels, no grass for doggie doos, landscaping and outside painting needs a lot of work. A little too much furniture made it difficult for a handicapped person. All in all, we loved it and hope to return.
