Dungeness Beach Retreat is a beautiful home on Dungeness Bay along the Strait of Juan de Fuca near Sequim, Washington. The views of the water and mountains are absolutely stunning. This well-equipped home can either be a retreat from the cares of a busy life or a launching point to explore the beautiful Olympic Peninsula. Olympic National Park is a short drive away featuring scenic vistas, great hiking trails, wildlife, waterfalls, lakes, and hot springs.

The small town of Sequim has many charming shops and restaurants. Port Angeles is a short 30 minute drive and has many fine restaurants and attractions. It is also the place to catch the ferry to Victoria, British Columbia.

The Dungeness Beach Retreat features two bedrooms with queen size beds and water views. One is on the main floor and one is upstairs. There is also an upstairs loft area that has a queen size futon bed for overflow sleeping.

The living room features huge windows and comfortable seating for enjoying the water and beach views and for bird watching. A blazing fire in the woodstove is a perfect way to end the day.

You can relax on comfortable deck furniture while taking in the views or barbequeing your dinner on the gas grill.

From the deck, it's just a few steps to the beach where you can enjoy beach combing, quiet walks in both directions, and great views of eagles, seals, sea otters, and water fowl.

Bring your kayaks and launch from the beach or bring your bikes and enjoy the country roads.

From the kitchen window and the front of the house, you can enjoy the view across the street over the marshes with a great variety of birds. Beyond that is an unobstructed view of the majestic Olympic Mountains.

About Doug Ahmann

We've lived in Port Angeles for 39 years and feel privileged to call this beautiful area our hone. We love to share this amazing place with our guests.

Doug is a retired accountant and now a handyman, and JoDee is a retired violin teacher, and now a life coach. We both are also enjoying our new role as grandparents. We love the outdoors--hiking, fishing, kayaking, and exploring.

Doug Ahmann purchased this house in 2006

Why Doug Ahmann chose Olympic Peninsula & Pacific Coast

This beautiful home became available when our friends who built it had to relocate. We thought it would make an amazing vacation rental and our guests agree!

What makes this house unique

Staying at this home is absolutely peaceful and refreshing. It is a place where you leave behind stress of a busy lifestyle and rediscover the beauty all around. Perfect home for our visit to Olympic National Park

  • 5 of 5

We are 4 active seniors who visit national parks. This beautiful home made our trip to Olympic special. We have stayed in many VRBO homes around the country and this one has been one of the best. It is immaculate and the lay out was perfect for 2 couples. It is thoughtfully equipped and we especially liked having a cooler to take lunch into the park. The neighborhood and views are lovely. We drove into the park each day to hike and also enjoyed the uniqueness of "the spit". We were there in mid-July and the weather was perfect.

Exceptional property, clean & comfortable, well-equipped, spectacular views, good location

  • 5 of 5

Dungeness Beach Retreat is conveniently located to Olympic National Park (just gorgeous) and Sequim Bay (kayaking). Great uncrowded roads for cycling. The house itself is spacious and airy with plenty of light and wood appointments. It's tastefully decorated. It's right on the water and you can take a lovely stroll on the beach during low tide and the views are of majestic Mt Baker and the islands. We saw eagles and harbor seals right outside the living room window. Doug was a pleasure to deal with and are only regret is that we didn't have more time to stay longer. We hope to return and we already recommended the property to our friends in Seattle who we were also visiting.

Fabulous Beach House

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this house. It is very clean. Everything you could need is provided and available. The views are great - Mountains in the front and the beach in the back of the house. The house itself deserves five stars as it was perfect for what we needed. There was plenty of room for all of us (3 adults and two children). We enjoyed several days in Olympic National Park which is very close by as well as outings to Port Townsend and a ferry ride. We also enjoyed exploring the town of Sequim with its Lavender farms and little shops. We had a great get-away.

The only "complaint" I would have, and why I rated this stay at 4 stars, is that the beach and the water in the back of the house was covered in algae at all times which made it hard for us to enjoy walking on the beach. This might be due to the beach being at the Strait and not the open ocean, or maybe it was simply the time of year. The water was very still with barely any waves.

Thank you for sharing your fabulous house with us! We would love to be back sometime.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Anja, for your kind comments about our house, it's cleanliness, amenities, and especially it's location and proximity to so many fun and interesting places to visit. Thank you also for saying that it deserves a rating of five stars! The harmless "algae" (we call it seaweed ) you found on the beach appears occasionally when the weather and tides bring this natural sea plant life to shore and deposits it on the beach. The next tides or change in wind pattern most likely will carry the seaweed back out to sea!

Beautiful home on the beach!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this amazing home on the beach. The home is more beautiful in person than in the photos. The owners were fabulous to work with when I had to reschedule our visit due to my dog having surgery. I can't say enough nice things about their responsiveness and willingness to work with us. The home had everything we needed and I really appreciate that they use many environmentally friendly products in their home. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Sequim!
