We just got back from our second stay at this family cabin in the woods, and somehow it was even better than the first. This has quickly become one of our favorite getaways, and we’re already looking forward to coming back again. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing escape, this place is hard to beat.

Wonderful
Cabin is wonderful and has plenty of stuff to do for every age group. Pool bigger than picture shows. Very clean and plenty of room. Plenty of board games and yard games. Theater room was stocked with dvds to watch.

Thank you so much for your kind review! We’re very happy you had a great stay and enjoyed everything the cabin had to offer.
We truly appreciate you choosing us and would love to host you again in the future!
The place is cute has a lot of space and came equipped with a lot of “extras”. Which was great. Only thing is we didn’t use the hot tub or plunge pool. When opening the plunge pool it was not clean. There were leaves in the bottom of it, so we assumed the hot tub wasn’t clean either so we all opted out on not using it. Otherwise the place was clean and we really enjoyed our weekend away.

A wonderful retreat that our family toughly enjoyed! A great gathering place!
Outdoor activities for the entire family, and a fantastic home to enjoy inside as well! Room for all the family to play games, electronic or board, play in the exercise pool or hot tub and enjoy a great meal around a wonderful dinning table! Our family loved the cabin and all the grounds around it. We will defiantly return!
Outstanding property. Well appointed, especially the kitchen. Easy check-in. Plunge pooland hot tub a big hit with everyone. Nice and secluded. Thanks for your hospitality!

Wonderful lodge with a well stocked kitchen!
Very clean accommodations. Plunge pool was a hit with kids. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare a wide variety of meals. TV room w/surround sound was outstanding. Our family of 14 had plenty of space.
Had some friends down for a getaway and we had a blast. The cabin is nice a secluded. Very clean. The plunge pool was a blast given the cold weather. We really enjoyed ourselves at this property. We will def be back.

Our stay at The Explorer Lodge was a truly amazing family getaway.
During our stay at The Explorer Lodge we had all the modern luxuries of home (and more) all while being surrounded by a beautiful and peaceful forest setting. The cabin was spacious, with plenty of room and entertainment for all. The kitchen had everything we could need to prepare a gourmet meal, and plenty of room for a large group dinner. The plunge pool exceeded our expectations- it was wonderful relaxing in the pool and the hot tub under the stars. Would love to stay again!

Area was beautiful but definitely disappointed with some of the responses and help
The area is beautiful and the inside of the cabin was clean. However, the swimming pool didn’t work and has not worked for a long time. When I called they said it just broke. Also septic stunk very bad. When I called about this they said someone would come out. No one showed up.

Amazing weekend getaway!
The Explorer Lodge felt like a life-sized Lincoln log cabin with all the amenities - plenty of room for the 14 of us to spread out, immaculate and beautiful décor. It was in the 40's during our stay and the heated plunge pool was put to good use by the kids (much larger than it looked in the pictures) while the adults lounged on the porches and enjoyed the views. We LOVED the private/natural setting, the gaming tables, the fire pit, the theatre room, & proximity to town. Thank you!
This property gave our group everything we needed. We had teenagers, small children, and adults - everyone was happy. The home was very clean! The property was beautiful and very close to fantastic hiking in Hocking Hills Park. Having both the hot tub and the plunge pool was fantastic. All of the kids enjoyed the pool. Cell phone reception is limited, but the WiFi was excellent and provided everyone coverage on their phones. This property was exactly what we were looking for.

Beautiful cabin in a remote lot with all the amenities!
We had 13 of us at this cabin and our stay was outstanding. The plunge pool, hot tub, wifi, tv's, game room, dual fridges, yard games, fire pit, barbecue, bar area all made it wonderful. Cons: The hot tub had too many chemicals in it and the water looked like it could use a change but we still used it. The cabin wasn't very clean when we arrived; there was sand on the floor in the basement / game room but we did a quick clean up. Location is awesome, close to everything!

Disappointed by Misleading Listing – Plunge Pool Was Inoperable
To whom it may concern:Our family was incredibly excited to enjoy a summer getaway at this beautiful home in Hocking Hills. One of the main reasons we chose this particular property was the plunge pool—it was the biggest selling point for us, especially with four young kids looking forward to swimming in the summer heat.Unfortunately, when we arrived last Friday, we were completely blindsided to discover that the plunge pool was out of order. Not only was there no water in it, but it was clear from the condition and odor that it had not been operational for quite some time. We were never informed in advance about this issue, and in fact, the welcome email we received even highlighted the pool and suggested it was ready for use.Needless to say, we were highly disappointed. Our children were especially upset, and it cast a shadow over what was supposed to be a fun and relaxing weekend. We reached out to VRBO, contacted employees at Book Hocking, and spoke to someone who came out to the property about another issue—but despite all of this, we have yet to receive any meaningful response or compensation. At a minimum, we should have been informed that the pool would not be available. Advertising it as a working amenity and then failing to disclose that information is unacceptable. We would like a phone call back to discuss this issue further.

Horrible experience
We were very upset at what we had to deal with during our 3 night stay. We checked in and realized the house had not been cleaned and all the sheets were dirty from the last renters. We had to wash sheets at 10pm at night with 6 kids waiting to go to bed. The hosts admitted to NOT having the house cleaned prior to our arrival and never disclosed this information until after we reached out. The second day someone came into the house without notice while we were gone and locked the only cabinet with clean towels and then left the house unlocked with all our belongings inside. The last 2 days were the worst! The septic tank must have backed up and we smelled sewage all day and night. It was so overwhelming and made us all feel sick. The next day we packed up early so we could get out as fast as we could. We also experienced a master shower that clogs so you took a shower in several inches of water, all but 1 TV controller had batteries to watch TV and the grill was caked with food so we had to clean that before cooking. I think this is a beautiful property but some major issues with communication, cleanliness and privacy. We will not be returning.

Beautiful home! Incredibly peaceful.
The house was perfect for our family getaway. Love how secluded you feel at the home even though you are so close to all kinds of activities. Will be back again!
