This hand built cabin is situated privately on 50 acres of pine woods in the Adirondack foothills. The cabin features a hot rainwater shower and sink; solar electricity for the lights, and a wood-burning stove. You'll find a propane cook stove inside and a barbecue grill (propane) outside. Named Mountain Laurel, the cabin is situated at the top of a hill, with beautiful shade trees, cool breezes and a great view of the pine woods. It features a queen size bed in the main living area and a full size bed in the loft. A dining area is on the main floor along with a wood burning stove with a screen that can function as a fireplace. Experience cool breezes all summer long on the full-size porch. The catwalk off the loft leads you to a balcony with a beautiful ten-mile view. We are located close to access points for ATV and Snowmobile trails. Numerous lakes are a short drive away for kayaking, canoeing, swimming and fishing in the summer. In the winter, enjoy cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, hiking and snowmobiling. Snow Ridge, which boasts the first snow of the season, is thirty minutes away. Please email for detailed directions to cabin after reserving. We request reservations to be made at least 48 hours in advance of arrival date. Come and enjoy our back-to-nature cabin in our quiet pine woods.

About owners/property manager
After building tree forts in the woods behind his house as a young boy, my husband Rick decided one day he would build his own cabin. Mountain Laurel is the result of this dream. Hand built from the trees on the property, the cabin is situated privately on 50 acres of pine woods.
owners/property manager purchased this Cabin in 2010
Why owners/property manager chose Lowville
We loved this property as soon as we saw it. The sweet smell of pine greets you and the soft moss on the ground makes hiking on the property ideal.
What makes this Cabin unique
Situated privately on fifty acres of pine woods, with your own spot of peaceful quiet, the cabin is unique. From the porch you can sip tea or coffee and listen to the birds greet the morning. From the balcony, you can see for ten miles. If it's a quiet get-away you're looking for, you've found it!

Had a great time!
Our stay was absolutely wonderful! It was so peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed kayaking and just sitting on the front porch. We knew the cabin was run on solar power, but we didn't realize it was only 12 volt. So we had to go out and buy a charger adapter that fit a cigarette lighter to charge our phones (unfortunately we couldn't completely unplug with a child at home).
Relaxing and Fun
My friend and I decided to surprise our husbands for their birthdays, which are only 4 days apart (and who have been best friends since childhood) We wanted to escape the daily craziness and cities for awhile. We love to kayak and the outdoors. This cabin was perfect for a weekend getaway. Cozy with enough room for the four of us. Croghan is a few miles down the road with a quick access to all your needs. Finding a lake was a little difficult with the maps and lake of cell service but we found one! Even with the rain it didn't effect our moods. We had a fire every night and made friends with a few toads. The outside shower was a lot of fun too! We enjoyed our stay and plan to make a yearly event.
Can't wait to come back!
Spent 3 nights here and enjoyed every minute!
Thank you so much Andrew. Glad you enjoyed your stay.

Very impressed, would definitely come back again
Place was beautiful. Spacious, had everything we would need. We were able to rent canoes and kayaks from them. Owners were so kind and super helpful. Very nice to meet Rick. We had gotten a little lost and called rick and he picked right up to help with directions. Communicating so easily and getting to know them made our stay even better. Them supplying wood was also helpful. Very good place very GOOD people. 5 stars we LOVED it. Would love to come back again.
Thank you for the great review. We're so happy you enjoyed your stay. Rick enjoyed meeting all of you too.

The property was gorgeous and the cabin was just perfect for us to disconnect for a few days!
We spent three of the most relaxing and stress free days we've had in a long time! The cabin and property were perfect and the owners Maria and Richard were very nice and super helpful. We enjoyed three nights of barbecuing, campfires and enjoying the serene surroundings. The town is close by, so we drove in one of the three days for some ice and groceries, but other than that, we didn't leave the property! We definitely plan on returning, possibly in the fall.
So glad you enjoyed your stay! And thank you for the beautiful entry you left in our guest book. It means a lot to us!

There are many lakes a short distance drive from us for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming. In the winter Snow Ridge Ski Resort is known for the first snow of the season in NY. It's 25 minutes away from us. For snowmobilers, we are in a wonderful secluded location. You can ride through the mountains to Stillwater, Old Forge and Tug Hill.
Please reserve cabin 48 hours in advance of arrival date. You must be 21 years of age to rent the cabin. If you would like to bring your dog, please let us know so we can tell you our pet policy. Thank you.
