About this property

Rufus III Yurt on the river

A cozy yurt nestled in the woods alongside the Shepherds river. A year round elevated camping experience.

The yurt is an off the grid one room open concept. There is no electricity or wifi. For lights there are two propane wall lights, battery operated lanterns and headlamps. Outside we have solar powered motion lights. For cooking we have a propane stove top and a well stocked kitchen area including 2- 5 gal. jugs of water for cooking and cleaning inside the yurt and a propane grill outside. The yurt is heated by a wood stove and there is an outdoor fire pit. We also supply the firewood. We have a queen size bed with pillows and bedding and 1 camping cot with pillow and sleeping bag to sleep up to 3 people. Site has its own outhouse and in the summer months there is an outdoor shower with water warmed by the sun.

Besides the yurt site you have access to the many trails throughout the property to enjoy year round. In the winter months you can go snowshoeing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling and the river is a great place for a dip in the summer!

We like to give our guest their space. but we live close by and you can message or call us with any questions.

Small quiet town with a great local restaurant The Back Burner and also an amazing music and dining venue The Stone Mountain Art Center. The Saco River is right around the corner. This was a magical place to stay. Very cozy, clean, and everything you needed and more was provided. Host was even thoughtful enough to bring us hunting orange to wear so we could walk the trails. Will definitely be back!!

Great get away! We stayed 2 nights, wish we had stayed longer. So much fun being “off grid”. Am definitely planning to return.

This lovely, incredibly comfortable yurt is in the most beautiful setting along a beautiful river and in a peaceful forest. The wood stove kept everything warm and cozy, and it was wonderful to be "off the grid"! We attended a great concert at the Stone Mountain Arts Center (just 3 miles away), and enjoyed a peaceful day of reading, walking, and resting the rest of our time there. Our hosts were fantastic and responsive. We'd love to come back!

Beautiful setting on the Saco River, comfortable accommodations. There was no dry wood or any kindling. We got some down the road a bit. Other than that, just as advertised. Road noise was audible but not heavy. We would stay here again.

My husband bought a house and moved to Brownfield in 2017. We met and were married in October of that same year. He had already owned the property where now we have our yurts. It was his dream to build yurts and rent them. Finally in the fall of 2021 we put up our first yurt! We now have three on the property. We love being hosts so we can share our yurts and let people have a fun camping experience!
