Pappia ( Pah'-pee-ah N. Greek-Duck) is a charming, well-maintained retreat nestled in a park-like setting among live oaks, a marine tidal pond and a nature trail. Less than a five minute walk to both the uncrowded beach or to the sound-side dock where the sun sets into Currituck Sound. Large upper deck for sunning or guests can sip sweet tea under the fans in the screened porch. Amenities include sound-side outdoor pool/tennis club and extensive nature trails. Bikes, beach chairs and beach cart are available.

Open floor plan, hardwood floors throughout, hi speed internet, cable + streaming TV in all bedrooms. Great room features a cable + streaming HDTV w/ 5.1 surround sound and Sirius XM/Bluetooth music center. Prime, Netflix, HBOMax included. Additional TV/DVD/game console in third bedroom. Granite kitchen countertops, double oven, Nutra-Ninja blender, Keurig coffee maker and pancake griddle as well as outdoor Weber Gas grill. Dozens of Disney videos, games and books. Outdoor shower and powder room. Sleeping accommodations: MBR- 1 king, BR2- 1 queen, BR3- 1 trundle with pop-up twin, and a queen sleeper sofa in great room. Fully equipped for a carefree vacation.

Guest Review: This house is not to be missed!! Perfect location for families and children. Immaculately clean and obviously well cared for. The three bedrooms were very spacious with comfortable matresses and pillows, as well as plenty of extra pillows and blankets in the closests. The kids (7 and 11) loved sharing the kids room and having their own TV in their bedroom with it's own DVD player. The bathrooms were large and sparkling clean. The outside toilet and shower were also very handy. The upstairs was spacious with comfortable couches, a great kitchen and a very nice deck overlooking the pond and trees. Our favorite part was walking the nature path down to the pond and sitting in the chairs while the kids rode the bikes on the trail. Beautiful trees, shade and a lovely breeze. We also loved the beach chairs, kids wagon, bikes and beach caddy at the house. The beach entrance is literally right around the corner. The kids loved riding their bikes!! The soundside pool was beautiful and we spent a great day there. All in all, we have stayed in all areas in the Outer Banks and we have stayed oceanfront, but this was our most favorite house we have ever rented. Thank you Pappia!!

Nice place

Loved this place would recommend this house. And we will probably rent it again. But next year we want one bigger to hold lil more of our family.

We love it - the house is so well kept and thoughtfully stocked, the setting is beautiful, access to beach great, just the right size for us.

On a portion of the street tucked in under the trees for additional privacy, but still a quick easy stroll to a very uncrowded beach, this is a great place for a quiet relaxing getaway. Property is in mint condition and thoughtfully appointed by the owners. Several great areas inside, on decks, and in the backyard to hang out and relax. Highly recommended.

It is clean, very well appointed, tucked in a bit on a quiet street in Sanderling, making the short walk to the beach pleasant as well. The MB and enclosed porch off it are wonderfully quiet and restful, as is the back yard, great room and upper decking. Owners have ensured kitchen, electronics, chairs at the house and for the beach are all clean and in good working order. Perfect for a couple or small family.

It was perfect that there were a few bikes for us because riding into town was fun to do each day. Easy walk to the beach. The house needs updated inside for sure. A lot of spiders on the screened in deck area so couldn't enjoy that at all.

The owner has stated that the cooktop was replaced 8 years ago and is in good working condition (sometimes electric cooktops need a little more time to heat up than gas or electric stoves). The microwave is an older model, but it is in good working condition and offers a larger heating capacity than most newer models. You’ll be glad to learn the owner replaced the oven with a new high performance, stainless steel double oven and has upgraded coffee and juice bar appliances as well for 2016. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed everything else about home and we hope that you consider us for your next Outer Banks Vacation.

Charming treehouse at the beach

Three generations stayed at Pappia for a week in June. It's really charming with pretty details in the design of the house. It really felt like a tree house with lots of shade trees all around the house. The hardwood floors and spiral staircase add to the charm. The house is well equipped with kitchen details like a Ninja blender and Keurig coffee maker, comfortable beds and bedding, very nice bathrooms, a wonderfully comfortable gathering space with comfy sofas for all. We played games around the ottoman at night with lots of laughter and family time. They have bikes, chairs, umbrellas and sand toys, outdoor shower and new gas grill. The description lived up to the photos and description. We highly recommend this rental. The Sanderling area overall is very nice with lots of shade trees and winding roads. Nicely designed neighborhood.

Relaxing Retreat

The house is equipped with almost everything you need to have the perfect vacation. We enjoyed sitting by the pond and watching the wildlife, the short walk to the beach, and not having a ton of noise and traffic in the area. Having the use of beach chairs, toys, and wagons made the time at the beach even better. The use of the bikes cuts down on other expenses that we would have had as well. The house is set up nicely and has a very calming and comforting feeling; you will feel at home the moment you walk in. We enjoyed the 4th of July activities in Duck as well as surrounding communities. The only small complaint was that the cleaning crew did not do the best job before we arrived and I had to do some cleaning before we could enjoy the house completely. We also had to wash dishes that came out of the cabinet before they could be used, they were obviously not washed before they were put away.

My brothers family and mine stayed here in August and we were very happy with everything. Anything you could possibly need or want was provided including bikes, beach chairs and a much needed baby gate at the top of steps (I have an 18 mo). The 8 of us (4 adults and 4 young children) had the perfect amount of space and were a very short walk to both the sound (stunning sunsets and we had the doc to ourselves) and the beach! We’ve stayed in Duck dozens of times over the years but loved the wooded feel of Sanderling. Very happy :)

Amazing vacation rental has EVERYTHING you need and more!

Reviewer Comments: I’ve been coming to the Outer Banks with family for years and have never stayed in a rental as clean, neat, well stocked, and beautiful as this one! The pictures don’t do it justice! We came down with my in-laws and our almost 3 year old daughter. There was a baby gate at the top of the stairs if needed. We loved that all the drawers in the kitchen were labeled. Also loved that there were notes on everything (how to work things in the home, trouble shoot if we had problems, and where to find things). It was like staying in someone’s home. It’s easy to tell these owners take care of their rental (unlike others I’ve stayed in) and work hard to keep it up to date. There were a lot of games and movies in the one bedroom. There were FIVE WORKING beach bikes (not all rusted up) that were nearly brand new. Four new beach chairs (no need to bring your own!) which we made great use of. There were pads and pillows on the outdoor chairs, which made the aesthetics so pleasant. Also nice to not sit on a hot patio chair! Really nice lounge chairs on the deck, very high quality! Short walk to the beach. This home is in a residential area and was very quiet. We loved the trees in the backyard. They were so beautiful and it was nice to have some shade after being at the beach all day. Loved sitting by the pond and reading (they even had a brush down there next to the chairs to sweep your seat off before sitting down!) These owners have thought of EVERYTHING! Thank you for the great stay and we hope to come back soon!

Approx. a 5 minute walk to the beach with a 4 and 7-year-old in tow. Set back in the trees a bit, the sounds of insects and frogs at night was amazing, and the kids loved walking around the little pond in the back. My only caveats would be to arachnophobes--lots and lots of spiders around the outside of the house--and people with limited mobility--since the bathrooms are on a different floor than the main living area and the only way to get there is a spiral staircase. Otherwise, we would most definitely rent here again!

Wonderful family retreat

We loved our stay at Pappia! Everything was very clean and there were instructions for many things around the house which was very helpful. The walk to the beach was short and we loved all the trees that shade the road. Although we didn’t need them, there were plenty of outdoor supplies—beach chairs, umbrellas, wagon, bikes, sand toys, etc. We had a few rainy days, but there was plenty of space to hang out and read books, play games, or nap. Unfortunately a lot of the board games and things were packed away for the season due to COVID, but we had enough to keep us busy. The tech in the living room was great and we were able to watch all our toddler’s favorite shows via Roku and Chromecast. All around a lovely visit and we would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

We did miss having our dog with us and because of that we'll not be returning. The spiral stairway would have been a challenge for her anyhow. We have stayed at homes in the Sanderling Community for the past 10+ years. The area near this house is quite shaddy and good for walking.

This was our second time staying at Pappia and it is our favorite rental. Nestled in cypress trees in a quiet neighborhood with a quick walk to the beach. Great for riding bikes and there's always a nice cool breeze out by the pond. The owners are so gracious and have provided every possible amenity you could think of and detailed instructions for using each. It was a perfect escape from a crazy world. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful vacation spot

This vacation home is beautiful and was perfect for our family. The location is great. Quiet neighborhood and great accommodations. They pretty much give everything equipment related you could need at the beach! There were a few minor things wrong with the house but the property manager had left cute little notes about them and how to fix if something went wrong. My husband said he would love to go back next year and stay here again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family of four had a great time at Pappia! The house was clean, well-equipped and well-organized. Approx. a 5 minute walk to the beach with a 4 and 7-year-old in tow. Set back in the trees a bit, the sounds of insects and frogs at night was amazing, and the kids loved walking around the little pond in the back. My only caveats would be to arachnophobes--lots and lots of spiders around the outside of the house--and people with limited mobility--since the bathrooms are on a different floor than the main living area and the only way to get there is a spiral staircase. Otherwise, we would most definitely rent here again!

I would highly recommend it. The beach is only a few steps away and easy to get to.
