Upon one of the highest points in Dubuque County, sits The Black Barn. With sight lines over 70 miles, it feels like you are in big sky country. The spa area with an indoor pool and hot tub has a two story wall of windows allowing you to see the million dollar view. The Black Barn sits on 7.5 secluded wooded acres, including a large patio with fire pit overlooking the scenic valleys. Black Barn has six bedrooms, a game room, three baths and accommodates and sleeps 16 guests. Guests on property are limited to 16.

This was one of the best places that we have stayed at. The view was phenomenal, George was excellent with the communication all of the amenities that we could’ve possibly thought of we met the pool was wonderful. I can’t say enough good things about it. the location is perfect. It was a great place to go to open gifts after my son‘s wedding and just relax in between all of the duties that come with a wedding.

Our family had the best time at this wonderful home. Gorgeously decorated in unbelievable scenic surroundings. We have stayed at multiple VRBO‘s and nothing compares to this one as far as cleanliness, things to do, and so very well stocked. Perfect!

Four of our families stayed at this property for a Field of Dreams tournament. George was a super host and very communicative. We blew a fuse and he was very responsive and came right over. We would 100% stay at this place again! Great pool, clean, beautiful views!

Five star stay!

Beautiful property and 1.5 minute drive from the Sundown Ski resort. Made for a terrific "ski & swim" family trip! Property managers were very responsive throughout and the house was perfect for every age - grandparents, parents, teens and kids. Great pillow choices and plenty of space for all ages to play. Fully stocked kitchen with necessities to cook up a storm. Only heads up to note that there are no king beds and the two queen beds downstairs have temperpedic mattresses - so you will sink in a little bit if you're sleeping on those.

This place has it all. Everything clean & it has everything you need for a great stay. Pool, hot tub, pickleball court were a great hit with the family. The layout of the house was great for a big group of people. Kitchen, dining area & living room were an open area. So many thoughtful touches throughout the house. Amazing stay!!!

My family and I decided to book the black barn for Christmas and my sister’s 50th birthday week. The location, cleanliness, indoor pool area, and views were exactly what we were looking for. The owners were very attentive and replied quickly. We will definitely stay at this property again next time we’re in Dubuque to visit my sister. One more perk for skier’s is that Sundown mountain is less than 5 minutes away. Everything was perfect. Thanks again!!

This house is AMAZING

We came in for the Field of Dreams baseball tournament and had four families share this house. It was AMAZING. The house is beautiful and there is so much to do. They have not missed a single detail, even down to coffee, laundry pods and soap/ shampoo in the showers. It was such an easy and relaxing weekend and SO MUCH better than being in a hotel. This house would be perfect for a family reunion, a little getaway vacation, a corporate retreat, or for the baseball tournaments that so many of us come in for. Thank you George for being easy to work with and for the hospitality! You have a fantastic property!

Perfect place for a family get-together!

There were twelve of us staying here for a mini family reunion with my siblings, our spouses/significant others and my parents. The house is new and very clean. The house sits on a hill with a great view. Since we only had a couple of days together, we wanted to maximize our time being able to talk and enjoy each other. The house was perfect for having meals there with a nice kitchen that made making home made meals easy. The indoor pool, hot tub and sauna were great! There is a large big screen TV in the family room and and even larger TV in the pool area. We did need to rearrange the furniture in the family to accommodate all of us being in there at the same time. There were only two downsides that we felt were minimal overall: 1. the kitchen table was too small for all of us to sit around, but the seat at the island accommodated the overflow 2. There was a problem with the breaker so a walk full of outlets weren’t working, including all outlets in one of the first floor bedrooms; so charging phones or anything requiring electricity wasn’t happening there. But we easily worked around that minor glitch to what was a great weekend. I would recommend this property to anyone visiting the area. Lastly, George was very responsive throughout the process. It was a pleasure!
