Stoneflower Fay Jones Cottage on Eden Isle,Greers Ferry Lake

Bedrooms 1
Half Baths1
Space 1,500 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

House, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 2-5)

Come relax outside on the 30 foot deck in our unique E Fay Jones vacation cottage.

As you walk into the lower level you are greeted with natural stone tables and sofa base, boulders used to give it a grotto feeling. The sofa/bench can be used as a single twin bed. The main bathroom is also on the lower level, the shower was created to mimic a small waterfall, the bathing area can be concealed from the garden room by using the pocket french doors. This level is very organic, built with large boulders. In times of heavy rains, a small amount of water may pool in the hallway leading to the bathing area. This is a natural occurrence and does not affect the unique structure.

A spiral staircase leads from the lower/entry area to the main living area which in includes the dinning, kitchen and living areas. This area features redwood floors and linear redwood boards with textured white walls throughout. Features floor to ceiling windows. The dinning table is movable through out the main living area as well as movable stools/end tables. The kitchen stove/sink/refrigerator unit is original (50 years old this year) and was used in railroad cars. There is minimal freezer space and no ice maker, so we recommend you bring ice with you. The stainless steel sink is built into the stainless steel counter top. There is a ductless heating and air unit located on the 3rd level sleeping loft and two in-wall dual A/C and Heating Unit located on the main living area, 2nd level. In cooler months - Infrared heaters are on the first two levels which can be used in addition to the two in-wall units located on the main floor. In summer - there are fans on all three levels, that can be used in addition to the two in-wall units located on the main floor. The living area features two built in benches that can be used as twin beds. This main floor has great views and access to the 30 foot deck, complete with two flambeaux grills, attached to the steel deck supports. Due to insurance purposes these are now just architectural details and do not function as grills or lights. The deck extends into the trees allowing a beautiful view.

Up another level is the loft with a queen-sized bed and wonderful views of the outdoors and beautiful architecture. The floor is also constructed of redwood boards laid on their sides. The railings surrounding the sleeping loft are rather low and does not accommodate small children.

Due to the nature and history of the dwelling, we cannot accept pets on the property.

Stoneflower is located within a dry county.

We do have a minimum stay of two nights on weekends but will accommodate one night stays during the week depending on availability. Please contact the owner to inquire about availability of one night stays.

Wow ! Wow! Wow! Beverly and I had a wonderful 33rd anniversary at Stoneflower last weekend. It was everything it was advertised to be and more. Thank you so much for your help with our reservation. All of our friends(wives) are jealous and promising to spend time at Stoneflower. I missed my waterfall shower this morning and the view from the deck. We will be back!!

Thanks again,

An Amazing *FIRST* Stay!

  • 5 of 5

This house is a very lovely place to stay for a weekend, a week, or longer. My husband, daughter and I all stayed here for two nights and only wish that it could have been longer! We will definitely be back! The location is lovely because there are plenty of nearby opportunities for hiking and other outdoor activities. Or, if that is not your personal taste, there would be nothing wrong with just staying in Stoneflower all day!!!

As far as the property itself, the stone shower was very fun with a child and an experience I might not have again as an adult. The stairs can definitely make you a little nervous but they were really no problem - you just have to be careful going up and down between the floors. The overall look was such a tremendous experience - my husband and I were married in Cooper Chapel in Bella Vista, AR and everything about this home was reminiscent of the Fay Jones chapels. The deck was a very lovely place to unwind after a long evening. Sufficient dishware and cookware was provided, making dinners easy to manage. If you like winding down with TV, there was an array of available stations on a large TV. If you are more of a music fan (like we are), there was a radio to turn on in the main living area to unwind. There were also some boardgames/games that were available if that is more your cup of tea (although if you have specific tastes, you might bring along your own). Overall, there was so much more provided than what I would have anticipated or planned for, making the stay very comfortable. It was also just so wonderful to be in such a house and wake up with the daylight coming in through these windows.

Additionally, Trish is amazing! We drove in late on our first evening and my husband must have missed the driveway... going to the neighboring home instead. It does get very dark at night and so we had to call Trish one-two times in the evening but she was very understanding and definitely helped us get our vacation started without stress! Trish made sure to help us locate the main first set of lights in the house (which are labeled clearly but, at night, it is sometimes hard to see even with the nightlights arranged on the first floor). No worries though! She will help!

Overall, Trish was amazing and this property was amazing! As soon as I can find the time and a weekend that others have not already booked, I will head back - my daughter immediately wanted to know when we will stay at Stoneflower again! Thank you Trish!!!

Unique place to stay, but recommend staying during warmer months

  • 3 of 5

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here. We were looking for something unique, and we got that for sure. However, it was cooler than average for April, and we even woke up to snow one morning. There is no major source of heat on the bottom level. This is where the shower is, so that was a major bummer. We could literally see our breath down there! We built a fire, and even this was not enough to sufficiently warm the area. Also, whatever you do, DO NOT ask about the gas fire pits on the deck. I was rudely told that it was “all over VRBO” that we could not use these. I did double check, and yes, it is on the website. I had not read all the fine print (my mistake), and was simply asking. No need for rudeness. If you are looking for a unique place to stay, this fits the bill. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but we likely will not return.

Stoneflower is the Perfect Weekend Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Once again, this was a wonderful place to spend a weekend! The location is perfect for hiking and the property itself is the perfect setting to help you forget about work and spend an evening relaxing with your family! My husband, daughter, and I have now stayed here twice and I am sure we will stay again! While we did not have to call her this time - since my husband did not get lost on the second attempt ;) - Trish is always amazing! She was helpful the first time we stayed and certainly maintains this property. Worth the stay!

Wonderful unique cottage

  • 5 of 5

Stoneflower offers the opportunity to stay in a unique Fay Jones Cottage in a beautiful woodland setting near Greers Ferry Lake. We loved being up in the trees and enjoyed spending time on the deck and in the garden. The lower level "cave," complete with grotto shower, was a special experience. Perfectly comfortable for two adults and two children. We would love to stay here again!

Beautiful, unusual cabin

  • 5 of 5

Stoneflower Cabin is very well maintained. Of course, the architecture is amazing! Looks just like all the pictures we’ve seen, only cooler in person :) Cabin had everything we needed. The only slight negative was that the oven was difficult to figure out (can’t see any numbers on the knobs) but we managed. We also hiked the Bridal Veil Falls trail, which was very pretty. As we left, we ate breakfast at Red Apple Inn. Highly recommend the Tropical French Toast :) Our entire stay was everything we hoped for!
