Rest assured, we'll work with you to ensure your safety and comfort during inclement weather. In the unlikely event that the road is impassable, we'll honor a partial or full refund depending on the circumstances.

When I booked this home, it was originally for a total of 3. Then 4 others decided to join us due to the beautiful location and the activities we planned on doing ( dual sport/OHV trail riding). This house was roomy enough for all of us ( we cleared it with the home owner first) and very close to the trails. Lots of towels, very nice appliances, comfy beds, extremely private.
Everything was wonderful! The views were spectacular. There were just 2 of us, but another couple and small family would have plenty of room. I would recommend thisnto anyone.
The kitchen was perfect to have dinners with everyone! We BBQd, used the stove and oven. Had plenty of cooking utensils. The view was spectacular at any temperature and any time of day or night. We enjoyed sitting on the deck, inside and in the hot tub. When it got too warm, the air conditioning was awesome. Everything worked as described!
Absolutely the most gorgeous views and a beyond peaceful and secluded location! The hot tub under the stars at night and making smores around the firepit was the highlight of the trip. The only recommendation we could offer to other guests - if you are at all picky about water - bring bottled water with you. Otherwise, this was an amazing cabin!
We had a wonderful time! The house was clean and comfortable. The beds were so comfortable, we actually inquired on where to get one. The front deck with the rocking chairs was amazing! The view was awesome. We enjoyed coffee in the morning and wine in the afternoon on the deck listening to the birds. If we had any questions, John responded quickly. We hope to come back here in the future.
Very enjoyable secluded mountain retreat with spectacular views, quiet privacy, comfy beds, plenty of space including porches and a fire pit and indoor fireplace. Nice hot tub to relax in at end of the day. Kitchen well equipped to cook in. Peaceful and cozy with excellent amenities.Be sure you have good traction or 4 wheel drive to ascend the final gravel/dirt road, particularly if there is snow or ice present. And make a left after you go over the small bridge (main road).
Wonderful stay! Great views, inviting hot tub, wonderful fireplace. Great set up for our annual, family Christmas gathering. Plenty of room and very clean. Easy check in and check out. Close to a grocery and historical sites. Definitely would stay here again.
The cabin and location are beautiful! This is the second time we've stayed and enjoyed it just as much if not more than the first time. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful stay with the most amazing view! Watching the sunset from the deck, sitting by the fireplace, and looking at the stars from the hot tub were definitely highlights.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we didnt want to come home. If we didnt have work and the kids didnt have school we would have probably tried to stay an extra few more days. The view was definitely beautiful. We definitely want to come back on warmer days to enjoy the outdoors.
The perfect spot for my friends and I to get away for a while. Easy access to town, beautiful views, and everything you could need available in the house.
Lovely home with beautiful views off deck, well-stocked kitchen, comfy beds and pillows, large TV and wonderful hot tub we used twice. Serene and quiet, surrounded by nature. We enjoyed many hikes and Luray Caverns nearby…one of my family’s more relaxing getaways!
The house was amazing! Bigger than we thought it would be. Plenty of room for 4 adults. The wood-burning fireplace was cozy and the outdoor fire pit area was clean and inviting.
Deer Haven is a large cabin-type dwelling on a 20-acre lot, which is roughly half-wooded and half meadow. It affords expansive views to the west and has a short trail through mature woods. A great place for large families or small groups, it features three levels, with two bedrooms on the third level and one on the first level. There are three full bathrooms (one on each level--we recommend the one on the third level because of its superior pressure), as well as lots of seating. Furnishings are adequate for a cabin-type accommodation. The wonderful large windows provide great views and plenty of light during daylight hours. Interior lighting is quite limited and less than ideal for reading print publications at night, especially in the main room on the second level where the overhead lighting appears to have been disabled, perhaps for dark-sky purposes. Then again, who reads print publications anymore in a digital age? The owners' welcome packet recommends bringing flashlights or lanterns if more lighting is desired. The owners have prepared a comprehensive welcome pdf, which they provide well in advance of the stay so you can decide what to bring. It also has lots of information about the surrounding area. We recommend the Spring House Tavern in Woodstock for dining. We also encourage visitors to stop by the Shenandoah Valley Cultural Heritage Museum at the Edinburg Mill. Don't miss the documentary on the burning of the Shenandoah Valley during the Civil War.

Hi Dennis,
So glad you enjoyed your stay. I am sorry to hear you had trouble with the ceiling lights in the living room. They are indeed functioning, using a dimmer by the back door. The dimmer must have been reduced to its lowest setting, which is off. I am sorry you had to rely on the table lamps for light. I will add information about the dimmer to our welcome packet.
We mention that flashlights and lanterns are available in the pantry for guests to use in case the electricity goes off, but not for nightly use.
We hope to have you back in the future!
John
We were a group of 6, including two children and absolutely loved the house, ammenities, and location. The hosts were great, and the check in super easy. Had a great stay and will definitely go back!
Easy to communicate with owners they were very responsive, clean, easy to check in, location is remote as we expected. Loved it and so should you.
