About Sue Flemng

I am a tidewater native a really wanted a home close to my roots. As an interior designer with 30 years experience this house was great fun to furnish with a nod to its past and heritage.

Sue Flemng purchased this house in 2011

What makes this house unique

We love walking to the amenities downtown as well as the short drive to activities at Belle Isle State Park. The close drive to Virginia's historic triangle satisfies my need for a history fix.

Actually it's my visiting family that stays there. This was the fourth time for them to stay there while visiting "Grandma". Thanks again Sue!

charming place

we had a great time in Kilmarnock for a decemeber wedding. The town is very cute and right out of a hallmark movie. This house was perfect to share with our inlaws for the wedding stay. it had lots of room, charming decor and convenient location to the city square.

This was the third year my visiting family stayed here. It feels like their home away from home when they're in VA.

Never felt so at Home while being away from home .

  • 5 of 5

Love the home away from home. In fact it had several items and features I had in my own home. It was convenient to shops and restaurants and a short drive to beaches ,parks, and ferry rides. Love that the owner had her art work displayed as part of the decor , it showed her true appreciation for art and made everything so cozy. She even had a need point framed with the Williams family at the back door. Hope to return some day. Nora and David Williams June 2016

Older home with nice charm

  • 3 of 5

Overall, the rental home wasn't too bad. There were a few things that impacted us more than it may another family.

First, the king sized bed in the master bedroom was HARD. Both my wife and I did not get a good night's sleep due to this and she actually didn't even sleep in this bed on the second night due to how stiff it was. By the end of our stay my back was definitely sore.

The master bathroom could use some TLC. The floor is crumbling and the shower curtain doesn't stay on the hooks. I get it's an older home, but both of these could be resolved for a better experience (one is obviously an easier fix than the other).

And, this house is a data dead zone. I assume it's due to the age and solid construction of the home, but I could not get a good phone data signal unless I was in one spot of the kitchen or outside. There was also no wifi available so I felt disconnected for my trip, which was not something I was looking for due to some needs we had for our family. If the owner provided wifi it would be much more convenient for the renters and would help with the lack of data accessibility.
