This private apartment is located on the 4th floor of our lovely Brownstone building. Our neighborhood is called Bedford-Stuyvesant (Bed-Stuy) and it is well recognized as a cultural epicenter of historic Brooklyn. We have lived here as a family with young children for several years and hope you will enjoy this warm and friendly neighborhood just as we do. A short walk to the subway (12 minutes) gives direct access to downtown Brooklyn, Prospect Park and Manhattan. Our family lives in the downstairs floors of the house and we are happy to answer any questions and help with navigating your trips to local destinations.
The apartment has three bedrooms and one bathroom. One large bedroom has a queen bed and pull out sofa bed, a second bedroom with bunk beds and a third room with a single pull out bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with stove top, coffee pot, refrigerator and all cooking utensils. The bathroom has a shower with plenty of hot water and clean towels and soap. The private apartment has telephone, TV, and Wi-fi.
We have two separate and fully equipped units available in our building. Both units together can sleep a total of 15 people. Our other unit is number 3731679. Please contact us directly if interested in renting both floors.

About Geert Dhondt
My wife and I both work at the City University of New York in Manhattan and our three children attend public schools here in Brooklyn. We all take the local subway to go to work and school and are very familiar with the system.
Geert Dhondt purchased this Apartment in 2014
Why Geert Dhondt chose Bedford-Stuyvesant
This area of Brooklyn is distinctly recognized as an "up and coming" neighborhood. We experience it as distinctly friendly and feel safe and welcomed here at all times in the day or night. Many highly recommended restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, grocery stores and bodegas are within a short walk of our home.

Cute and cozy apartment
Staying here made me a bigger fan of Brooklyn over Manhattan's tourist hustle and bustle. The feel of the neighborhood felt safe and there is so many cute restaurants and many more. I would definitely stay here again if traveling to Brooklyn. Plus the host, Geert was great with checking in on us via email upon arrival to make sure we made it safely. His family also have a very detailed folder with basically everything you need to know about the house and neighborhood.
Very charming appartment
This was a very charming appartment with lots of beds. It is well located. (10 mins walk from the subway). At first, it doesn't seem to, but it is safe to walk very late at night. It is a bucolic neighborhood of Brooklyn.
This is a good thing we rented on the last floor as it is a very old building and you hear a lot of other tenants walking.
The owners are very nice. As soon as we need something, they take care of it. They gave us ideas of where to go.
I would recommend making sure the utensils are well washed and provide newer dish linen.
Despite those small ajustments, it's a nice place that I recommend for a family.
Great for a family vacation!
We had a great stay, Geert greeted us when we arrived. The apartment was clean and ready for us to make ourselves at home. We are very happy!
Cozy Setup in Brooklyn
Geert and crew are great hosts. All was ready and clean on our arrival and Geert was a flexible and friendly host. Not far from the subway, we found the location accessible and safe. The neighborhood is in transition, but has some lovely spots for coffee and eats.
Lovely home in Bed-Stuy
My two young children, my brother, his wife, and their two young children all very much enjoyed our stay at Geert's beautiful home (that's 3 adults and 4 kids aged 4-8). The location was great, felt very safe, and had a lot of typical Brooklyn neighborhood color; it is subway accessible, close to multiple restaurants, grocery and liquor stores, and even a playground!
Geert was very communicative and while I never met him in person, I did meet his two delightful children on a couple of occasions. Checking in and out was a breeze and we had no trouble getting in touch with a Geert when we needed him.
Just a word of note, this top floor apartment is very well appointed, but is best for family or very close friends, as all three bedrooms feed into one another and there is a single bathroom. This was not a problem for us and we enjoyed the close quarters, but might be off-puttting for some. Also, this is a top floor apartment up 2 flights of relatively narrow stairs.
Overall, we had a lovely stay, Geert and his family were the perfect hosts, and if we find ourselves in NYC, we would definely stay here again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The listing description was very accurate. The apartment was clean and the owners were very nice. It is a short walk to a subway station, restaurants and shops. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives.
