About this property

Aspen Lakehouse on Skagway Reservoir

Imagine arriving to wide open space, fresh mountain air, and the quiet calm of being completely surrounded by nature. At Aspen Lakehouse, the days unfold at your own pace—whether that means slow mornings with coffee on the deck overlooking Pikes Peak and Skagway Reservoir, or jumping straight into a day of adventure.

With expansive views in every direction and acres of land to explore, there’s room for everyone to spread out and settle in. Walk down to the reservoir for fishing, kayaking, or a peaceful afternoon by the water, or head out to explore scenic mountain roads, hiking trails, and nearby historic towns like Victor and Cripple Creek.

The home itself is designed for connection. Large gathering spaces make it easy to cook, dine, and spend time together, while multiple bedrooms and living areas offer comfort and privacy for bigger groups. Whether it’s a family reunion, a getaway with friends, or a special celebration, the space naturally brings people together without ever feeling crowded.

Afternoons stretch into evenings on the deck, where the light shifts over the mountains and the air cools just enough to make you want to linger a little longer. Nights are quiet, the stars are bright, and the pace feels refreshingly simple.

For even larger gatherings, Aspen Lakehouse can be paired with Upper Aspen Lakehouse (https://www.vrbo.com/610408) just a short walk away—offering a unique setup that allows everyone to stay close while still having their own space.

Everything that was promised, was everything we asked for and more.. even had some snow which the kids loved, n we had a great time, but for anybody who wants to stay here, ahead of time, during October though the winter months, you need a 4 wheel dr, or all wheel drive. A front wheel drive will not make it with even a bit of snow up the steep hill to get to cabin. But everything she promised was there. I have nothing bad to say about about our family vacation. Thankyou n we'll being coming back again.

This is a beautiful property. It is remote, as advertised. It had everything that our family needed. The dirt road coming in, the driveway, is extremely steep… And when wet, may not be passable by all cars. We will definitely come stay again.

Aspen Lakehouse was wonderful for my family get-together. The setting was beautiful with the nearby trout-filled lake and the aspen trees at their peak color while we were there. The cabin was spacious and well-equipped. Lots to do in the area including fishing, hiking, exploring the back roads, and visits to Victor and Cripple Creek. The host was very responsive. We had one minor maintenance issue while we were there, and it was taken care of very quickly after contacting the host. Aspen Lakehouse is highly recommended, and we look forward to staying there again in the future.

It was awesome. We stay at the Aspen House because it’s close to the reservoir and we teach wounded veterans the art of fly fishing. It’s a very healing sport that helps veterans in need.

Unplugged getaway with plenty to do!

This was our first blended family vacation and it couldn’t have been spent at a more perfect location. The pictures do not do the property justice! The panoramic Mountain, reservoir, and wooded views were nothing short of incredible. The property had nearby amenities that kept us entertained and helped us to bond. Thank you for letting us share your tiny piece of treasure with our family!

What a view! I still can’t get over the beautiful location of this property and the stunning view from the wrap-around porch. We spent many hours just relaxing out there and taking it all in. Very comfortable stay for our group of 11 with 3 full bathrooms and 2 large master suites plus smaller bedrooms. Very clean, huge kitchen, lots of table/seating space. Short drive to Cripple Creek and Victor which were neat historic towns, plus a lovely reservoir/rec area just down the hill. (Just be mindful of the super high altitude and take it easy if you’re not used to it!!) Owner very kind and responsive. Very easy check-out procedures too. Loved everything about this stay and property!

These homes mean the world to us; the scenery, the nature, the disconnection from the rest of the world is unmatched. We love being able to share that with you.

Why they chose this property

The stunning views of the mountains and the lake drew us in. Aspen Lakehouse has an incredible 3/4 wrap-around deck to be able to view the expansive scenery, and part of the scenery is a magnificent aspen forest, which the house is halfway nestled in, and it is so peaceful. While there are neighbors, they are not close enough to bother, and you get peace and quiet when you stay at our homes.

What makes this property unique

What sets Aspen Lakehouse apart is the rare combination of expansive space, natural beauty, and the ability to comfortably bring large groups together—without sacrificing privacy or connection.
Set on private acreage surrounded by aspen groves, the property offers a true sense of escape, with sweeping views of Pikes Peak and Skagway Reservoir and direct access to the outdoors. Guests can walk to the reservoir for fishing and kayaking, explore nearby trails and scenic drives, or simply enjoy the quiet and openness that makes this setting so special.

The home itself is designed with gatherings in mind. Generous living spaces, multiple bedrooms, and a layout that allows guests to spread out while still coming together make it ideal for family reunions, group getaways, and special occasions. It’s a space that feels both spacious and welcoming—something that’s difficult to find in traditional mountain rentals.

For larger groups, Aspen Lakehouse can be paired with Upper Aspen Lakehouse just 150 yards away, creating a unique two-home experience that accommodates up to 18 guests. This flexibility allows everyone to stay close while still having their own space—perfect for multi-family trips or retreats.

It’s this balance of scale, setting, and thoughtful design that makes Aspen Lakehouse not just a place to stay, but a place to gather, reconnect, and return to year after year.
