I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We could only stay 3 days of our 7 day vacation. So very disappointing as the cottage needs major updates especially the air conditioning. The temperature was 86 inside each day we were there. There was an electric issue as well. The cottage needs lots TLC!

It was more special this time as our kids are older and could enjoy more amenities and outings. Our son proposed to his girlfriend on the beach this time. It was magical. The house was wonderful and we have so many memories to take home with us. We will definitely be returning as a family again next year.

I would have liked more information on what I had to bring like paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, & extra garbage bags but we enjoyed our stay, the weather was perfect and overall it was a great week!

Perfect Spot

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This home is right on the beach...and that's what you're coming for, right? The kitchen is well stocked and large enough to not feel crowded. The main room with the kitchen / living room is perfect for hanging out and playing games. Bedrooms are small and some beds had a mattress topper...which was nice because it gave you the option for a soft or firmer feel if you took it off. The front porch was well shaded with unobstructed views. It still takes well over 100 steps to get to the actual ocean with a small dune to walk over in front of the house. The only "downsides" were no enclosed outdoor shower and no convenient wash station to get the sand off your feet right before entering the home. Be sure to bring your own beach chairs and boogie boards, etc. The parking is very tight and your vehicle will just be a few feet from the road, so be careful with young children. I do recommend Molasses Reef and hope to return in the future.

All the storm doors did not close correctly and the locks were broken? Lighting in kitchen area very dim, beds were uncomfortable and sagged a lot! You take your life in your hands when parking and trying to leave your parking spot. Though we liked Carolina Shores and would utilize them again, we won't be reserving this home again ---

The best part was sitting on the back porch with my morning coffee & watching the ocean waves roll in. Unbelievable location. The house was on the smaller side but clean & it worked for us. I kind of like the beach cottage feel. There are definitely updates needed but the price was right for this kind of view. We plan to return for sure. Large strips on both sides of the house with no other homes making the beach area feel almost private. Can not park more than 3 cars and if it rains those cars can be 1/2 under water. Helps to back into spots but busy road can make that difficult. Everything on one level helped for our aging mother. She could just sit on the back porch & feel like she’s on the beach. Amazing.

It is not a huge multi story, over-blown house like you can find down the beach, it works for us. The beach right here is pretty quiet due to the gaps between houses on this section of the beach. Nice covered deck in the back for watching the storms that sometimes roll through. Pro tip, check the router behind the TV for the wifi password, the one provided is sometimes incorrect.We sometimes take a year off, but we will be back!

We loved the Artwork ! Parking is tight...we had three vehicles, including a Truck. a wagon, and a sedan.The outdoor shower was used many times We were very happy being there, and would use this Cottage again. Light bulb switches, washing machine cycles didn't always start or finish.

It was Heaven but don’t want others to learn that!

What a find! This cottage felt like home the first moment we walked in. The proximity to the beach, shops and sites was unbelievable. My brother, son and I plus several of his friends found this property perfect. On a part of the beach that was a bit out of the way gave us the peace and serenity to take advantage of the waves and walking. Loved cooking fish from the local market Billy’s and having a traditional boil at home. Loved everything about Molasses Reef- one week of work and one week for vacation. Already have reservations in for 2022! It is a piece of Heaven.

The house is much bigger than it looks in pictures, which was quite lucky for us because it rained the majority of our week there. This house is fully stocked with almost anything you need. My only complaint is that it really needs a good dusting and there were lots of dead bugs on window sills. The porch facing the beach was amazing to watch the sunrise and we saw dolphins the 2 nice days we had! Overall would recommend.

The location to the beach cannot be beat and the back deck is a perfect place to relax and watch the ocean. The rooms are bigger than they appear in the pictures and the kitchen was very well stocked with pots, pans, and many other items for those who like to cook. We will definitely be returning.

We enjoyed OBX - wild horses in Corolla, Duck Donuts, lighthouse visit, fishing, and delicious seafood. The kitchen is well furnished but home needs some upgrades - the bathroom shower was VERY small and the bedrooms were not especially clean or comfortable.

Very Nice!

Very close to the beach, nicer than the pictures show. It has been updated with televisions and it was overall a lot bigger than the pictures showed. It was very comfortable and relaxing. Thank you!

Reviewer Comments: When we arrived, we learned that there was not one garbage receptacle to be found in the kitchen. I called Carolina Shores and the person who answered (a female whose name I cannot remember) was less than enthused to help and sounded like I was bothering her (even sighing at one point). She told me she would contact the cleaning company and get back to me, which she did. However, she told me that they would drop it off outside on the deck that day which never happened. I did not bother to call back. We used our own garbage bags hung on the kitchen chair all week.The house needs to be deep cleaned. I realize that we were there the second to last week in August; however, I do not feel that means that anyone renting a property should have to be subject to less than pristine cleanliness. That's not to say that the house was dirty. It was not. The bathrooms were clean as was the kitchen. It just needed to be deep cleaned.There were ants living in cracks of the stove. I didn't bother to call Carolina Shores after the reception I received during my first phone call.However, I have to say that the people I dealt with before we got into the house were very polite and helpful, both on the phone and during check-in.The house itself met our expectations and we enjoyed a great week on the beach. It is an older cottage and the owners have done a great job using every available square inch with hooks and sideboards. The owners might want to consider updating the bathrooms and kitchen, particularly the floors.

We loved being able to eat outside, sit in the hammock, enjoy our coffee! But the property is older and could've been cleaner. There was a child's bathing suit bottoms left behind in a bedroom-ick. And an encounter with a roach. I am sure it is difficult battling these bugs but did it make the house feel "clean" - No. Also, when I swept at the end of the week, I found candy from prior guests. So - not the cleanest. Can you call it an outside shower when it is totally exposed out in the open? Not really. How about a few wastebaskets for the bathrooms? Little things go a long way.

Great location

We loved the close proximity to the beach as well as to some of our favorite restaurants. Enjoyed the beautiful sunrise every morning. Such a great view from the property. We also saw dolphins almost daily. The property is adorable. Loved the artwork.
