Great location!

Great location and clean. The positives were: well stocked ktichen, short walk to the beach, great neighborhood, outside shower room and outside seating. Many other things about the house we loved even though it is a bit out-dated and outside needs a little love. Good news is that the plusses out weighed any negatives!

Good for what it is

No complaints about the house, mostly the check in process after hours could have been better. I’ve seen reviews about how this is not close to the beach, there’s one house next to this, a cross street then a short walk to the sand. About as close as you can get without ocean front property.

TLC

Pulling up to home first thing you notice is tape on the three windows, missing trim. A few lightbulbs are out, specifically the one lighting up the stairs in & out of main door. Looks like no one ever cleans behind beds. I had up use outlet behind bed and it had not be cleaned back there. Two tables on deck are rusted and one is falling apart. The worst though was in bathroom. Looks like someone used toilet brush to clean toilet, but didn’t clean brush off very well before the put it back in brush holder. There was evidence of this on the outside top of toilet brush holder. Mostly someone paying attention to details could fix easily. It seems like this place is just neglected a bit. The interior of home is pretty nice, cleaning crew needs to do better. Really just needs TLC, power washing, fix trim on front windows, get rid of old deck furniture. Location is extremely great!! Tons of potential there, just needs some care.

Jason: Thank you for your comments. I have spoken with the housekeeping department on the cleaning issues. Unfortunately one of the owners of the home was very ill and has since passed. Due to this many of the items that you mentioned did not get fixed before last season. They are working very hard on fixing the windows, decks and other areas for the 2024 season. Hope you will give us another shot in 2024.

Loved almost everything

Dear Cheryl, Thank you for sharing your concerns about the KELLY home. Deck nails are a royal pain. We attempt to replace them with screws as often as we can. The process can be never-ending. I sincerely hope the child is okay.

great location to access beach for a family with young children

The living room and kitchen area are updated, the rest of house are dated, but I cannot complain because location is great. The house is third house to the beach so it makes beach trip so convenient. Also down the other side of street (0.7 miles walk) is close to shopping store and board walk. To a family with several children, this is great location. They can walk to eat, shop and play at beach.

Would Not Stay Again-Yard an Embarrasing Mess

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: First the good: location. It's a couple blocks to walk to the boardwalk down to the beach. The beach was great. Not too crowded (August 2021). Duck is nice with the park, playground, boardwalk. The not so good: Driving up, the home almost looks abandoned. The plants have taken over. We had to cut some back just to get to the outdoor grill and thorny vines were growing in the outdoor shower. Burrs everywhere. My plans for letting my kids play outside were shot. Called management and they assured me someone would be by to take care of it. They never showed. Steps weren't swept and the keyless entry worked intermittently. Grill was dirty and there were no items to use to clean it, nowhere to put the ashes, and nowhere to set plates/cups/spatulas. Latch on bathroom door didn't work. Mildew on grout. Tub didn't drain well. I had to vacuum the carpet (using an ancient vacuum cleaner) and change the a/c filter upon arrival. Corroded batteries in remote. Had to call for the W/D code but there were so many roaches (dozens!), I didn't even use the washer/dryer after all. Blinds broken in one room. Wall outlet broken. Plastic piece on shower broken. Kitchen faucet wouldn't stay turned. Knobs on dresser came off easily. Size of the king bedrooms was decent. The two rooms with twin beds/bunkbeds were tiny. Would not recommend for full-size humans. Ultimately not worth the cost and not comparable to the other homes on the same street. A bit of maintenance, possibly changing or removing the tall carpet in the family room, and controlling the outdoor plants would go a long way towards improving this home.

KELLY House not what we expected

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: KELLY house left quite a bit to be desired. We arrived at 2:00 a.m. and found that there was no toilet paper, paper towels or other simple household items. The furniture/furnishings are old and uncomfortable. Some of the lamps did not have bulbs in them. The kitchen was stocked with plates and silverware but no salt/pepper or dish/dishwashing soap. The yard has no grass, just weeds and overall shabby looking. If you just need a place to sleep that is near the beach this place is fine. We were just disappointed. The directions ask that the house be cleaned and vacuumed prior to leaving but we were not going to buy cleaning supplies to do this. We left voice mails for the rental office that were never returned. I would not recommend this property to a friend or relative.

Great time in Duck

In fact it turned out to be nicer than we expected as the living room furniture has been updated from the photos on the website.
