This home is adorable! The lot is nearly flat plus there is a sandy beach. There is another 800 sq ft of game room (pool table, ping pong darts) in the detatched garage and a playhouse for the kids. The roadfront side has a screened in porch for morning coffee. The waterfront side has a spacious deck with room for everyone and a killer view. Once inside the home, you will love the decorations and furnishings. A mix of contemporary art meets relaxed lake style make this one of the most comfortable homes on our rental program. The bedrooms are spacious and the living rooms are open and inviting There is a quaint fenced garden party outdoor area for entertaining or so fido can get some exercise without mom and dad having to worry about him running off. The sandy beach area is great for the small kids too. There is a gazebo at the water. The garage has a pool table that converts into a ping pong table, darts too! There is a treehouse and paddle boat (rebuilt and completely functional 12/1/2017) as well for the kids. There is a firepit for roasting marshmallows or sharing drinks with friends.
On the entry level, you will find the kitchen, a small breakfast nook, the larger dining area that is open to the living room, a bedroom and a full bath. The laundry room is also on the main level. The living room and dining area have sliding glass doors that open up to an impressive deck overlooking the lake. With seating for 8, table with umbrella, and a gas grill, this is the perfect entertaining spot for any group.
Upstairs, there is a rec room and 2 additional bedrooms that share a full bath in the hall. The rec room has a tv and game system for the kids. There is a small deck off the rec room too. With all the extras in this house, you will want to make this your vacation home for years to come.

Loved the house and the property. Very roomy and had everything we needed. Would definitely consider returning.
Its a great place to have a November. 38th anniversary to just relax . We enjoyed our selves
It was very pleasant and knowing that our pet could go outside without worrying. Thanks😄😄
I'm so glad you enjoyed yourselves. Please return and stay with us again next time you are at SML!
Great Location & Family Friendly
Very Family Friendly Property! We were only able to stay 2 nights but loved this waterfront property. We saw deer every night and ducks every morning. It was spacious and wonderfully decorated. Only down-side was we wish we could have stayed longer. I really appreciated light switches that were labeled and the children's books in the upstairs bedroom. I don't think we ever figured out the 3 remote TV (lol 😁) Hope we can come back soon.
Dog and kid friendly home!
Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your wonderful home! We had the best time. If you are looking for a dog and kid friendly home you have found it! The fenced in area for dogs is perfect and wonderful that the deck also has a gate so they can hang out. Your kids will love this one! Mine are grown and still had a blast. The converted garage game room is awesome and the tree house is adorable. House is casual and comfortable! Fire pit is wonderful, dock with gazebo is great and the paddle boat was a great addition! Loved the location and beautiful views! Didn't want to leave!
We are so glad to hear that your group enjoyed Here Comes the Sun. The owners put a lot of consideration into making a great family friendly rentals. Thank you for taking the time to let us know they did a great job. We hope to see you back again next year!
Nice dog-friendly house on SML
Cute modified A-frame w/nice large fenced-in area for dogs, including a doggie septic system. Nicely furnished but no WiFi and very limited cable TV. Beautiful spot on the lake although the next-door neighbors were a bit noisy -- there were 8 cars parked over there with lots of adults, 5 young kids, boat activity, and a dog. Don't know if it's always like that, but it was like that during our stay. Lots to see & do at SML. Would recommend.
Thank you for taking the time to review Here Comes the Sun. We've never had any issues with the neighbors. They are year round residents, so maybe they were just having a family event that weekend. I'm sorry they were distracting. The 2 older folks and dog are usually there; they are all very friendly.
We are working on getting wifi. The problem here at SML is that Comcast and Verizon (cable and phone) still operate on copper lines. High speed internet requires fiberoptics and the county just doesn't have the lines run yet. The alternatives are Hughes Net or B2XOnline, but both require clear line of sight to a satellite which we simply don't have.
Luckily, most renters come to Here Comes The Sun to relax, unwind, and cut the cord to the daily hustle and bustle of work as well as spend time and connect with their family.. Making memories happen at the dinner table, on the lake, around the firepit, in the game room, etc. We find that not having a screen to stare at helps families reconnect to one another and disconnect from their phones, tablets, and laptops.
We do hope you will return and stay with us again. If there is anything we can help you with, just let us know.
I overall enjoyed my stay here but I gave the property 4/5 stars because the house needs some maintenance. The house is cute and we very much enjoyed sitting on the deck and enjoying the view of the lake. My daughter loved the tree house and all the games in the garage (table tennis, darts, foos ball, pop-a-shot, pool). The swimming was pretty good too with the boat dock (although the bottom of the lake is really muddy near the dock; if you want a nice sandy beach, Smith Mountain Lake State Park, which is a 5-minute drive, is MUCH better). What I did not like about the house is that the dryer door would not close, a shelf in the in refrigerator was broken, the couches were a bit worn and noticeable dirty, and both the couches and a rug smelled a bit. Also, you really do need to bring everything (even matches to start a fire in the fire pit).
