Cabin 2 at Cedar Key - Serene waterfront setting/No wake cove/Dog friendly!

Imagine mornings watching the cool mist rise off of the reflections of undeveloped forest, the “sound” of silence, beautiful views of sunset on the water, and potluck barbeque dinners on the back deck with friends. At the end of the day, enjoy the night sky the way it was intended, without any light pollution! If you’re looking for a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, you’ve found the right place.

A shared dock gives full access to this serene no wake cove for swimming, paddleboarding, and docking your boat, so you can enjoy all the lake has to offer.

Our pet friendly atmosphere allows you to enjoy this setting without having to leave your canine family members behind.

Within a 30 minute drive, Smith Mountain Lake offers access to horseback riding, golf, hiking trails, and wineries. The nearby state park includes a small beach for younger visitors. This is Virginia's most popular lake and is a fisherman's paradise, with over 500 miles of shoreline on this 40-mile long, 20,000 acre lake stocked with bass, muskies, northern pike and panfish.

High-speed internet allows for viewing movies and shows from your own streaming accounts and the occasional remote work if absolutely necessary.

This two-bedroom, one bath cabin has a fully stocked kitchen and a charcoal grill for use on the full length deck.

A common dock is shared with neighbors in Cabin 1.

A dedicated parking spot is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac.

Central air conditioning and heat, ceiling fans throughout.

GUESTS SHOULD BRING LINENS (FOR ONE QUEEN AND TWO TWIN BEDS), BATH TOWELS, WASH CLOTHS, DISH TOWELS, ETC. Linens may be provided for an additional $75 fee.

While the cabin is dog-friendly, due to the increased wear and tear to the property and furnishings, as well as increased cleaning, there is a $50 pet fee. This is automatically assessed on the VRBO app but not on the PC/Mac website and may be added as a separate invoice after booking if not automatically included.

The cabin was lovely and the views spectacular. Even with it being “off-season” the weather was wonderful and we took many walks along the lake with our dogs. We booked our next stay before we even checked out!

Great getaway cabin on Smith Mountain Lake. Cabin is very clean and well maintained, kitchen well equipped. Deck has awesome view of lake and short walk down to dock. Will definitely stay here again. Owners were very responsive.

This was the most beautiful location to spend an anniversary weekend. The cabin was clean and the host’s left plentiful instructions for everything. We shared a dock with a neighboring cabin with the most gorgeous views. It was quiet and so refreshing. There’s enough to do around the area without feeling overwhelming. If you truly just want to “get away” do yourself a favor and visit this cabin with these wonderful hosts

excellent property, fully stocked, great host, animal friendly. perfect in every way except giant oak tree which hangs over house and dropped literally thousands of acorns on deck which required 4 x a day sweeping to avoid slipping or being ingested by dog. if that tree was trimmed back, it would be 100% perfect!!

Loved everything about this cabin. Perfect size for a family of three, beautiful location and views. Located in a quiet area with plenty of parking. A quick boat ride, 10-15 min, from Mitchell’s marina. Docked our boat at the shared dock. Plenty of space to park boat trailer in parking area. Very nice stay!! Would love to visit again

They thought of everything!

So much attention to detail. Our cabin was pet friendly and they included a small trash can outside for pet waste, waste pick up bags and wipes and pet water bowls. The beautiful porch had a gate which was completely secure for our pet so we could all hang out together without worry. It had enough paper products, including paper plates, bowls, towels, toilet tissue, Kleenex for our 3 day stay. The bathroom included shampoo, conditioner and lotion and the shower had good water pressure and a nozzle that was removable.The bed was comfortable. However, the queen sheets we brought to cover the queen bed did not fit, probably due to the depth of the mattress so I would bring king sheets next time.There were games, books and tv for your rainy day entertainment.But mostly, it was a lovely, clean cabin on a quiet cove on the lake, with it's own private dock and breathtaking views.

Another great stay at cabin 2! The addition of the hand railing down to the dock is great. This cabin really has everything you need. The no-wake zone is great for fishing, swimming, kayaking, and more.

Such a wonderful stay at this precious cabin! An awesome Smith Mountain Lake experience! Everything was inclusive and it felt so much like being at home! We ended up eating and staying at the cabin more than expected because of the beauty of the property rather than eating out. Can’t wait to come back!

Ken and Cindy Fasanella are healthcare workers who live in Pittsburgh, PA. Ken has been enjoying Cedar Key since his college days at the University of Virginia, and he and Cindy have been making it an annual destination since 2016. In 2020, we had the opportunity to make our favorite place on Earth into our second home. Our hope is that our guests are able to enjoy the cabin the same way we have, as the ultimate family vacation spot in the summer and a peaceful getaway the rest of the year.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

This is a truly magical place on Smith Mountain Lake. It is an old fashioned fishing village built the same year the lake was created, right in the middle of a nature preserve, across a cove from protected State Nature Preserve, which will never be developed.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

It is on the shore of a "no wake" cove allowing for peaceful swimming and use of personal watercraft (kayaks, rafts, SUP boards) without rapid boat traffic affecting your personal safety or peace of mind. Additionally, it has a small, old-fashioned, laid-back community feel allowing multiple families to simultaneously rent separate cabins but be able to enjoy stays together, congregating for potluck dinners on the generous deck.
