About the Property
Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)
In the setting of its own private 2-acre island located in McGregor Bay, you will find our charming cedar log cabin. This amazing structure was built more than 50 years ago by Native artisans and is as beautiful today as it was then. It consists of two bedrooms, two baths, a living room, modern kitchen, and a glassed-in screened porch. The cabin comfortably sleeps eight. When the windows of the porch are open, it provides 2/3 open-air comfort. The kitchen is more than adequately equipped with modern appliances, which includes a Jenn-Aire range and grill, refrigerator, freezer, and solid maple butcher-block countertops. A washer and dryer are also located in the kitchen area. Satellite TV, Wi-Fi and telephone are also availalbe. A wood-burning stove insert has been added to the fireplace to provide sufficient heat on chilly days. The island is conveniently located near the marina where your car will be parked.
Complimenting the cabin, are two decks. The front deck (with a hammock and redwood deck furniture) is just steps away from the waterfront, and provides spectacular views of both sunrises and sunsets. The waterfront provides a great swimming/sunning/fishing area. There are two kayaks (with paddles) for use. A boat and motor are also available for an additional charge of $500 ($US) per week. Great fishing is at your fingertips.
The rear deck provides a beautiful serene setting overlooking a quiet view of the water where you will spot all kinds of wildlife. There's a gas grill, patio table, chairs and umbrella. Very rarely will you see a boat back here.......it's that quiet!!
There is a separate art studio -- and the area lends itself to spectacular views for both artists and/or photographers. The famous Canadian artists -- 'The Group of Seven'.. used McGregor Bay as a base for many of their famous paintings.
This is a wonderful opportunity to relax and restore in one of the most beautiful and unique areas of North America.

About the owner: My name is Jim Skala. I am presently retired from coaching and a career in the trucking business. My wife, Lorraine, and I have five children and five grandchildren. We have spent many wonderful summers in this very special place. The property has been in our family for 50+ years, and we have treated this place like the treasure it is. We have spent many happy hours improving the property. My wife, Lorraine, is an artist and she has spent many enjoyable hours trying to capture some of the 'glow'. We now spend most of our time in a beautiful place called Brevard, North Carolina. For a number of reasons, we currently are not able to spend the entire summer in McGregor Bay (age is creeping up on us). Therefore, we have decided to share this McGregor Bay experience, so that others may have the opportunity to create memories of their own. Our own children are just not quite to a point in their lives where they would have the luxury of an entire summer here. There is no place like a small island to bring back a family experience. Just a few words from Rachel Fields' great poem......'Once you have slept on an island, you will never be the same'.....says it all
Why the Owner Chose Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands, ON, Canada:
We have owned this property for over 50 years. Caring for it and maintaining it has been a true 'labor of love'. However, we have reached the age where this is no longer realistic. Our property is for sale. However, until a sale materializes, we are willing to let others share this piece of heaven that we have loved and cherished for all these years.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
An artist's paradise! Catch & eat fresh fish every day! Spend a relaxing afternoon in the hammock reading a great book! Or go out in the kayak with your camera. It's a photographer's paradise as well.
