Enjoy Island life in beautiful McGregor Bay, Birch Island! We are happy to share our little island paradise in this lovely part of Northern Ontario.

How to get here: You need a boat or rent a water taxi (for additional charges) to get to our island. It's located 30~ minutes by boat from McGregor Bay / J&G Marina. Situated between Manitoulin Island and Espanola off Highway #6. A water taxi service is available for additional charges at the marina. Please book the water taxi in advance.

Hours - M-F 8am-6pm, Sat 8am-5pm, Sun 10am-5pm.
Water taxi - $90 per trip
Parking rates - $14 a day for a vehicle or $17 for a vehicle with boat trailer.

Alternatively, you bring your own boat, we will provide coordinates to our island upon booking. Marina has plenty of parking available. Pontoon boat / boat shown in the picture is not included with the stay.

Amenities included - Clean linens and blankets, kayak, a paddle board and life jackets for adults, propane BBQ and propane tank.

Amenities NOT included - Bath / beach towels, paper towels, children life jacket

Attention anglers. Lake around us is a great fishing spot and has plenty of Walleye, Pike, Bass and Trout.

Whether you want a quiet place to recharge or enjoy outdoor activities there is something to do for everyone. Enjoy beautiful sunrises with your morning coffee and magnificent sunsets with a glass of wine on the deck. Across is the La Cloche Mountain Range, surrounded by pristine clear water.

Macgregor Bay is known as the "Jewel of the Great Lakes". There are many sheltered waterways to explore, a nature lovers paradise. It is a photographer's delight, an artist's muse and a bird watchers paradise in spring, summer and fall.

Main Cottage: As you approach Island 1980 you will see the main cottage. It was built in the 1960’s. There are two bedrooms, a four-piece shared bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and family room. Every window has a water view, and the spaces are bright and airy. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and looks out over the bay. There is a private entrance from the bedroom that steps out onto a deck. The second bedroom has a twin bed.

Bunkie: The Bunkie is located away from the main cottage for guests that want more privacy. It contains two double beds and is a cozy spot for two to four people.

Kitchen: Full size fridge, stove, microwave, toaster, water cooler and coffee maker. Dishes and cutlery for a seating of 6. Cooking utensils along with pots and pans are also included.

Additional Information: Since this is an island, younger children will need to be monitored. There is cell service and Wi-Fi on the Island. Please treat our property as you would your own.

Wonderful stay. Very relaxing atmosphere but lots of fun activities to do (e.g. kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing off the dock - although all we caught were bass, board games and campfires at night). The cottage was well stocked. Within one hour of being there my family was already planning to come back next summer!

Amazing location with stunning views. The host was extremely responsive. We had a small issue and they arrived onsite within a few hours to address the problem. We very much enjoyed our time at this wonderful location.

Just beautiful!

Fisherman’s and nature lover’s paradise with spectacular scenery in all directions. Boat traffic was minimal and the water in Georgian Bay is super clean! Great responsive host, lovely island perfect for our little doggo. Would rent again!

Beautiful private island. Quiet location. All the amenities as described. Brand new dock and deck. Great bunkie for afternoon naps. Brilliant skies and morning sun on view. The bald eagle landed close to the cottage.Easy water taxi arrangement at J&G Marina.Would definitely return!

Short stay

The cottage is in an amazing setting everything was clean well organized, large fridge great communication from the owner, beautiful water and dock nice deck unfortunately we weren’t there long enough to enjoy It! The island cabin is a lovely place for a quiet get away. If you are looking for modern or high end finishings, lots of toys and gadgets, or fancy, this is not the place for you. However, if privacy in a tranquil setting, surrounded by water and rock, with beautiful sunrise and sunset views and the sound of loons calling is your thing, then make your way to this gem. Water taxi service was very easy and professional.Cabin had everything we needed Hosts responded very quickly to messages. Dog loved being free to explore the tiny island. It was a wonderful escape.

It's hard to imagine a more magical spot. Tricky to get to if you don't know the water but worth it. Perfectly equppwd, quiet and gorgeous.

A unique experience

Place is situated on top of the rock. Isolated and quite beautiful. Family really enjoyed the stay and would love to return next year. Great Host, answered all the questions.

Beautiful secluded location

Stayed a week on the island. It was absolutely amazing. The cabin had everything you needed and some. The host was terrific and fast responding to all messages. Will be back.

Awesome location

It’s beautiful location, perfect for couple who want to spend quality time without any distractions. Property is average and amenities are average. It’s very old property apart from that we had very good stay and enjoyed our time together

Great property to get away from it all. Dock is a little small so if you have a big boat bring all your bumpers and ropes.

What an amazing place!

My family has been coming to McGregor Bay for multiple generations so it is a very special place for us. This cabin and island were a perfect place from which to enjoy it on this visit. Highlights included the sense of privacy the island offered, the amazing 360 degree views in every direction, the two different fire pits, the excellent bbq grill, the lovely weather we enjoyed all week, the various options for paddling around the island, and the deck from which we ate many of our meals and watched the bay. We hope and plan to come back in a few years!!

Excellent Getaway

We stayed in the cottage for last long weekend 2 nights with my family and my friend’s family, total 7 of us. We enjoyed our stay so much. There is something for every one, young adults were busy kayaking, paddle boarding and enjoying bonfire. We oldies were just enjoying the nature. The view is excellent, the water body is very calm and the environment is very quite. Fishing was excellent. We loved it very much and want to go again.

Remote private island

I just wanted to share a brief recap of our recent wonderful stay at the secluded cottage. We arrived by water taxi and were immediately taken aback by the beauty of the surroundings.The cottage itself was very well stocked with everything we needed, particularly the kitchen. We were impressed by the large bedrooms, offering amazing views and extremely comfortable beds adorned with lovely linens and quilts. One of our party had the pleasure of staying in the bunkie, where they enjoyed peaceful nights with incredible vistas.Although we encountered a bit of rain during our stay, it did not diminish our island experience. The fishing here is absolutely fantastic!One note for future visitors: I would not recommend this property for families with small children due to the rocky terrain.Overall, it was a delightful getaway, and I look forward to our next visit!

Stunning Views!

Thoughtful set-up - had everything we needed and we were comfortable. Enjoyed use of the kayak and SUP. Loved the bunkie for sleeping and listening to the rain on the metal roof. The island is steep rock with shore access behind the cottage and access off the dock. Heed the slippery when wet warnings. Great only for folks who are sure-footed.

Beautiful Spot

My wife, dog, and I stayed at this wonderful cottage. It is in a beautiful spot and has everything you need to enjoy the nature. It could use a few updates. That being said, the hosts were very responsive and even drove up to do an emergency repair on the water when it stopped flowing on day 2. They fixed it the same day! We recommend this property and would stay here again. It would be lovely if the kitchen and bathroom were a touch cleaner.

Unique Cottage with Beautiful Views

From booking to the day we got to the cottage everything was taken care of for us. Wonderful hosts that were very punctual responding to messages and requests. The property itself was amazing, had some of the most beautiful views. They had recently installed a brand new dock that made loading and unloading a breeze as well as was big enough to swim, tan and relax on. The Cabin was nice and cozy and had everything we needed for a week away including water, dishes, cutlery, cookware, wifi and streaming services. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing and remote getaway with the amenities you wouldn’t expect at an island cottage.

Date Weekend

My wife and I stayed here to have a relaxing weekend. It was great. The island itself was beautiful and quiet with views of the lake and sunset. We used the kayak and paddle board to go for a little ride. The lake is very calm so the ride was nice. We felt very secluded in a good way. We tanned and swam and had dinner on the deck overlooking the water. The cottage was perfectly clean and had everything we needed. The BBQ is brand new and worked great. We keep saying that we would love to go back.
