One of the most beautiful places to stay
This was by far on of the most enjoyable vacations that we had. The house was beautiful and the location could not of been any better. We had a cook the first night (FABULOUS) because of traveling but the other night we ate out. Plenty to do in the area. We will be going back.
So glad you enjoyed your stay, and we very much look forward to having you back!
Beautiful Home in Paradise
We absolutely loved our stay at Bosque En El Cielo! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a gorgeous, private home with incredible views in the Southern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.
The house itself had a fantastic layout with ample space for our family of six. It was very clean and well stocked for our stay - there were even provisions for our first breakfast there upon our arrival. The kids loved the pool and patio area were thrilled with their bedrooms as well! The upstairs master suite is very spacious and what a view!! It was so nice waking up to the sound of birds with the panoramic view of the countryside, beach and ocean right from the bed....amazing! We did a lot of cooking and grilling at the house and it was set up with everything that we needed. Also, the home is conveniently located and central to everything we had wanted to do....beaches, hot springs, zip lining, nature hikes, as well as the charming town of Dominical (definitely visit Cafe Mono Congo when you are there), Manuel Antonio Park and Uvita.
Lynne was so very helpful and gave us so much assistance when booking, we really were amazed by her knowledge of the area and level of hospitality. The property manager Rodney was also super helpful and answered many of our questions and even arranged a whale/dolphin watching tour and massages at house the day after our arrival. From the house we saw monkeys, toucans, an ant eater, and all sorts of tropical birds and butterflies....gorgeous!!
We absolutely loved our stay here and recommend this property highly.
You saw an anteater? Cool! We loved having you at our property and we're so glad you enjoyed your stay! Please visit us again!
We stayed at Bosque En El Cielo for 5 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The home is beautiful with a fantastic view. The bedrooms and bathrooms are large while the kitchen has all that you will need. Rodney is a great help when needed and seems to be always available by phone as he was for us when our rental had a flat tire. He took me into the local town of Hatillo to get the tire fixed, then made a phone call to Osa Canopy Tour to rebook for us since we were unable to make our original booking time. Unfortunately for us we didn't see to much in terms of wildlife around the house except for a couple of parrots and and toucans, but you can't control nature. While we didn't see monkey or sloths, some of the insects and amphibians we saw around the outside of the house were very interesting. The drive to the house is intimidating the first time you try it as other reviews have noted. But after going up and down the road a couple of times it became pretty easy. Lynne was great during the entire booking process and throughout our trip, even when she is traveling to other parts of the world!
Some recommendations and tips that future first time visitors might find helpful. We found that restaurant La Fiesta Del Chicharron in Hatillo had some of the best food compared to several other Soda restaurants we visited. Staff is very friendly and helpful, although they speak no english. Cash only at sodas, while regular restaurants do take credit cards and also include a 10% service charge (tip). Feel free to include more if you had outstanding service. Definitely check out Diamante Verde Tours that Lynne recommends. The ATV tour we did was outstanding. Osa Canopy is a must also. No direct access to an onsite washer and dryer at the house. The dryer would have been helpful for us as we were soaked from our trip Osa Canopy Tour where we were caught in torrential rain during the zip lining and then the drive back down the mountain to the Osa office. As we were leaving the next day and clothes take a long time to dry due to the humidity, we had to pack wet clothes. A 4x4 is needed to get to the house, no way to get around that. Factor in additional time to and from the airport! We had to deal with a landslide north of Jaco which closed route 34 for an hour. Dominical is a great place to hang out, have a few drinks and watch the surfing. The fruit in Costa Rica is outstanding!
We had a great stay and trip to Costa Rica. Can't wait until we return.
We're so glad you enjoyed your stay! Very sorry to hear about your flat tire -- but glad that Rodney was able to help with that.
I hope your clothes dried eventually! We did have a dryer that recently died on us. While waiting for the replacement, we have resorted to drying the old-fashioned way. And yes, that can be a problem with the humidity! Ugh, I hope they weren't too smelly when you got home. (Please send me a cleaning bill if you needed to get items professionally cleaned!)
Glad to hear that you plan to visit again. We look forward to having you back!
A Secret and Sacred Jungle Hideaway, with a Killer View!!
Arriving to the property at night was a heroine experience, as we didn't quite grasp the remoteness of the property.
But by day 2 we were over the shock of this and were able to completely loose ourselves in the beauty and nature that surrounds this amazing property!!
We saw monkeys, white faced, 3 separate times right near the house. We saw wild peacocks...we think...huge jungle birds with gorgeous feathers. We saw an unknown jungle creature...right from the deck. So cool! And TOUCANS, 10-15 of them in the morning and evening every day, all around the house. That was my favorite part!! They are so gorgeous, and silly; we thoroughly loved watching them!!
The kids swam all day, every day in the pool, from 5:30am (seriously)!! Until 6 pm, when it get dark; unless we were at the beach...that is! But we needed a good afternoon break from the heat daily, so the pool was a god send for us all!
The house itself was perfect! Had everything we needed, and was so well appointed for our family; we all loved it and would absolutely book again without a doubt!!
Lynn was very informative, she made a guide that was thorough and straightforward that we used daily and was quite indispensable. Thank you so much for that Lynn!!
Our only correction would be that we preferred Hotel Lindo pizza, with a swim up bar to the Argentinian pizza joint.!:)
Of the outings we tried we booked a catamaran trip on the Dolphin, out of Quepos...though it was reasonably priced, I think I'd skip that next time!!
We didn't see much of Rodney, the property manager...which was fine with us, as we were there to enjoy each other and escape, so we were good no complaints there.
He came daily, we just weren't there...we were up and at'um earlier than most I imagine, and off to the beach!! So we just missed him most days. He was very kind and helpful, when we did see him.
Our laundry was laundered for us twice, which was so nice. My only complaint there is that we came home with tiny holes in all of our clothing...I think there might be a damaged dryer drum that caused this?? Maybe not, but seems like the logical conclusion.
We had such a fabulous overall vacation that we would certainly go back to Dominical, and plan to; and would hope to stay at Lynn's house again and again!!
Thanks to Lynn and Rodney and the house cleaning staff for everything, we had an adventure to remember!!
So glad that you enjoyed your stay! Wild peacocks? Wow, I haven't see those. Betting that unknown creature was a coati -- they've been hanging around a lot lately. But who knows -- could have been anything! We'll definitely have to try the Hotel Lindo pizza and even add it to our travel guide. Thank you for that recommendation! SO sorry to hear that you ended up with little holes in your clothing. How odd! I've asked Rodney to see if there is anything wrong with the dryer. We definitely haven't had that problem before, but we'll let you know what we figure out.
Hope you can stay with us again next year!
The house is amazing, fantastic location
We loved staying at this house. Waking up every morning to the wild life was unbelievable. Sitting in the pool the view is indescribable. We took day trips into Uvita, Dominical, Quepos and Manual Antonio. Thank you Lynn!
Be sure to hire Rodney to cook you a typical Costa Rican dinner. The dinner was unbelievable!
So glad you enjoyed your stay! Please visit us again!
Incredible private getaway
My husband and I spent the last couple of days of our honeymoon here and it was INCREDIBLE! The drive up is a little intimidating at first but you get comfortable very quickly and the views on the way up make it totally worth it. Rodney was incredible with filling the fridge with necessities, scheduling whale watching and surf lessons and the beautiful flower arrangement he created for us as a "Congratulations gift". Lynne gave us every detail we needed for the area, we fell in love with this particular area after traveling up and down the coast. The house was BEAUTIFUL and so private...way bigger than expected but absolutely no complaints! We loved seeing all the critters roam around outside the house. I will definitely be staying at this peaceful getaway again very soon!
Morgan -- I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay! Congratulations on your marriage. We wish the two of you a lifetime of happiness. And we hope you'll come see us again. Maybe a second honeymoon?
Be sure to have a 4-wheel drive vehicle for the trip up to the house! Activities include walking, babysitting, rain forests, gardens, eco tourism, beachcombing, whale watching, bird watching, whitewater rafting, deep sea fishing, fly fishing, surf fishing, freshwater fishing, massage therapist, reefs, waterfalls, horseback riding, waterfalls, hot springs, and scenic drives.
