Our visit was fantastic. The location is ideal for casual winery exploration and has a great view of the James river. The owners were very friendly.
One note of caution: the address provided by Vrbo will not send you to the correct location if you put it into your GPS. Be sure to do your homework before you head out (I had to talk to the owners) because otherwise you'll show up in some other person's driveway.
Definitely would recommend this property!

Had everything we needed. Was the perfect stay for me, my husband and our daughter (6 months). We enjoyed having family over for lunch/dinner. It was just altogether an amazing time!!
Beautiful, clean and peaceful cottage! Owners are very good at accommodating. This house is fully equipped in the kitchen making it easy for packing. Bedding and towels are provided and very nice quality. We really enjoyed our stay. Totally worth booking.
Secluded property close to Scottsville and surrounding areas.
Nicely appointed home with all amenities. Centrally located to many historic sites. Convenient to Scottsville center and local merchants. Plenty of options to eat in or eat out. Never a dull moment, unless you want one. Scenic, Quiet.

My husband and I loved how peaceful our stay was!
The property was so beautiful. We loved that we could see the river and engoy a nice cup of coffee on the deck in the morning. The space had everything we needed for our stay. It was close to places if we did need anything. Teresa was available also if we needed anything. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a relaxing getaway!

Terrific! Exactly as advertised and just what we needed. We’ll be back!
Beautiful property, beautiful location, and nice little town nearby. Less than three hours from DC, but totally isolated. Right between Charlottesville and the mountains, and surrounded by wine, beer, cider, and history. Cottage felt like a home and our hosts were very responsive yet completely invisible. Perfect getaway for us and we will be back.

Location! Location! Location!
Absolutely loved staying at this cottage. The location is convenient to Scottsville with it's brew pub and many of Virginia's historic sites, including it's own. The cottage location on a bluff overlooking the James River and with only one neighbor made it quiet and exclusive. The only thing it doesn't overlook are all the details which the owners have given attention to so that our stay only required us to bring groceries. We hope to return to enjoy many of the things we could not take advantage of on this our first time. Thank you for a great stay.

Fantastic Place to Spend our Anniversary
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate our 5-year wedding anniversary. Everything was wonderful. The views and setting are beautiful and the cottage is the perfect size for a couple. Scottsville is a quick drive from the house and we really enjoyed the town.

Nice relaxing quiet
It was relaxing. The owners were very pleasant & nice people. There is not much to do in Scottsville. The James Tavern was very nice & very good food. We grilled the other nights we were there. If you want to get away from everything here is the place. But be sure you use bug spay to put on yourself because it is in the woods & the river mosquitos & bugs. The house was clean & comfortable. The pictures of the house are exactly what you see. We just wish some of the trees/srubs closer down were cut lower so we could see more of the river.

Beautiful property inside and outside!
This cottage was absolutely gorgeous from the inside to the outside! Inside, the house was nicely furnished and had all of the basics you'd need. The outside deck had an amazing overlook of the James River and the gazebo was stunning. I even used the gazebo area to propose to my girlfriend as I just found the view so stunning!

WONDERFUL, RELAXING, NICELY OUTFITTED
Convenient to Charlottesville, Shenandoah Valley, Blue Ridge Parkway. Accomodations were wonderful and clean, beautifully decorated, everything you may need is included. Kitchen is completely outfitted for cooking/dining in if you wish. Master bed is comfy, even pull-out sofa bed in living room was comfy once memory foam mattress topper (provided) was added. This is the best vacation home I have ever rented by far (and I have rented a lot!). Quiet, secluded area with lovely natural surroundings and beautiful views of the James River. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, hope to get back to this gem one day!
PS-The visits by "Miss Kitty" were among the highlights of our trip :)

Incredible place to stay
We arrived fairly early before check in and called the owner and was encouraged to go ahead and check in early. The place was clean and well stocked with anything you may need. We always bring extra towels, wash cloth, hand towels dishwashing detergent, clothes detergent, and hand soap and we never had to unpack those items. It was clean and comfortable. The bed was great in so that we have decided to buy a new bed when we got home. It was super convenient to everything, Monticello's , Charlottesville, Shenandoah and blue ridge parkway. 20 minute ride and you are on a major highway to go in either direction. We always cook when we stay at a Homeaway so restaurants are not a big deal. Although we decided to get carry out at Amacis Italian restaurant 5 mins away, and it was so delicious. If you needed any groceries Foodlion was a few mins away!! All in all it was a great vacation with all the hiking it was wonderful to come back to the house with all the great views. Thank you Teresa for allowing us to stay at you place!! Oh yes and the bedside candy was a real treat for my husband!!😘

Great vacation
My husband and I have wanted to see Monticello for a long time and he's never been to Shenandoah National Forest so we wanted to find a mutual place to stay. We are big hikers as well. Finding this place was a dream and renting it was painless. The house was a fantastic, comfortable place to stay. What a warm welcome to come back to after an adventurous day of hiking and sightseeing. Secluded, beautiful views. We didn't need to bring anything but food and clothes because it had everything. The deck every morning for coffee and evening toddies was wonderful.
Thank you,
Tina I.

Serene, quiet, lovely
This property is incredibly clean and the kitchen well stocked...no locked closets forcing you to buy a box of trash can liners, everything you need is there for use during your stay. Unfortunately for 2 old timers (51 & 54) who are used to a heavenly king sized bed at home, we found sleeping very problematic on the queen sized bed. The mattress is very firm (something neither of us found comfortable) but we were able to supplement the mattress with a memory foam mattress cover found in the closet that helped enormously. The only thing we couldn't remedy was that the sofa was not a "curl-up-on-a-rainy-day-and-read" comfy sofa although it served it's purpose. In the morning we would take our coffee on the covered deck, listening to the wild turkey, owls and the birds calling to one another. Also, when we first arrived I found that there was not pitcher for sweet tea and within minutes the owners delivered one! :) All in all, we enjoyed the property immensely but we have both decided that in the future, if we cannot find a king sized bed then back to the hotels we will go. I would have given this property 5 stars if not for the bed.

Quiet & Peaceful
Beautifully decorated. Quiet & remote. Beautiful views of the St. James river. Not much happening in Scottsville, VA, but if that's what you're looking for, this place has it.
About an easy 30 minute ride in to Charlottesville for more dining options. We absolutely recommend this home.
