A great area for motorcycles

This is a great area for motorcycle riding. There are many beautiful and curvy rides which, of course, include the famous 'Tail of the Dragon' road where there are 318 curves in 11 miles. Equally as wonderful a ride for either cars or motorcycles is the Cherhola Skyway well known for its scenic vistas. But plenty of local paved roads offer everything you could want in a ride.

Lots to do:

There are many things to see and do. White water rafting was so much fun. Next time we want to do some hiking.

Loved it! Comfortable, roomy, private and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

This home was everything it was advertised to be and more. It was very clean and ready when we arrived. We were a group of 3 couples, who had plenty of space and we all slept very comfortably. We rode our bikes down to 'Slay the Dragon' and ride other scenic routes. The house was not only great, but the 2 stall garage was awesome for the bikes. The home certainly gave us a home away from home feeling. We definitely recommend staying here and will do so again on our next trip to the area.

Cozy house. Dampness

  • 3 of 5

Overall we enjoyed our time at this cabin. It should be noted though that there is a mold/ dampness issue with the house. If you suffer from allergies, beware.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your constructive suggestion. However, this has been an extremely rainy season and thereby makes it a challenge to keep the humidity down in the house. I have 2 dehumidifiers as well as A/C and suggest that the renter run them esp when they are not there. I have taken other measures to remove dampness from house also. I always want my renters to have an enjoyable experience as they visit the beautiful mountains of NC.

Peace and quite!! Loved every minute!

  • 5 of 5

Gary has a beautiful home. We had a family get-together and everyone was impressed with the furnishings and space. It has a covered back deck with rocking chairs and a swing which I used multiple times a day to watch the stream below and listen to the birds. If you are wanting uninterrupted internet or cell phone usage, you will be disappointed, but if you want a get-away with peace, quite and serenity, you found it! My son hiked the mountain in the back and had a great time with several pics. My dogs had the best time of everyone. They were able to run the yard and jump in the stream everyday. They were like kids playing on a playground. The adults played ping-pong i n the basement, the piano and games in the dining room. Gary was very responsive and helpful. Thank you for allowing us to rent your home, we had an unforgettable time.

Really enjoyed house!

  • 4 of 5

All of us loved the house and the location. We really appreciated the communication by the owner and the extra's (towels, toiletries, soap etc) that was made available in case we forgot something. Did find the driveway leading up to the house was gravel/grass and while it was fine with the cars/trucks, we had to be careful with the motorcycles. It was navigated without issue by everyone, so don't let this stop you from renting, just be aware of it.

Nearest Airport
70 Miles
Car: necessary

Some of our favorite activities are hiking, rafting(white water and gentle water), biking and just hanging out. We use our motorcycle to ride the beautiful roads of western NC. Horse back riding is nearby.

There are many golf courses within a short to medium drive from the house. Waynesville has 3 courses they are somewhat challenging. Whittier has a fun course that takes you up and down the mountain. Franklin And Murphy have a couple of good courses that you will enjoy.
