Large, holiday villa for maximum 8 people to share in Kamini on Hydra Island Greece. Wonderful sea views with only 20 steps from the level coast road.

You will find Villa Francesca just a short walk from Hydra harbor on the coast road just before Kamini Harbor. This traditional house facing the sea was built in the 1950s and was fully restored recently. It measures 200 sq.m. and is set in a beautiful Mediterranean garden of citrus, olive, cypress and bougainvillea trees.

The house configuration includes three bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, one large living room with a fireplace, a sleeping alcove ideal for children, and a large kitchen with a dining area and a fireplace. Three separate terraces complement the living spaces of the house: just outside the kitchen, a large bougainvillea shaded terrace with a dining table for 12, next to bedroom 2 a jasmine/wisteria shaded terrace with a hammock and next to the living room an uncovered terrace with breathtaking views! Every room of the house faces west and enjoys an unobstructed view of the sunset, sea and the islands of Dokos and Spetses.

Only 500 meters from the port of Hydra and 200 meters from the port of Kamini the house combines the perfect quiet whilst having easy access to the best restaurants and beaches of the island. There are only 20 steps from the main coast road. The closest beach is at Castello, approximately 300 meters from the house.

The house features a fully equipped kitchen with serious cooks in mind, a Weber bbq and a wood-burning oven. All rooms are fully air-conditioned and 2 of them have ceiling fans. WiFi, a Bluetooth enabled sound system and TVs with Netflix are provided.



Accommodation description

Bedrooms:

Bedroom 1: 20 sq meters with queen size bed, six windows and sea views, 32” TV, ceiling fan and AC.

Bedroom 2: 14 sq meters with queen size bed and sea views, ceiling fan and AC. Opens to a private wisteria covered terrace. Hammock.

Bedroom 3/sleeping alcove: with one or two single beds and sea views, fan.

Bedroom 4: 20 sq meter with a king size bed plus a sleeping foldout sofa. Sea and garden view, AC and TV.


Living Room: 40 square meters with two sleeping couches 110 by 250 mm and a traditional Hydra couch 90 by 190 mm; 4 windows also with sea view, AC, ceiling fans and fireplace. It can accommodate 3 people. 53” TV, HiFi, WiFi, DVD, movie library. Opens to a very private terrace with uninterrupted views.

Two outdoor showers


Kitchen: 40 square meters, 3 windows with sea view. Modern electric kitchen, dish washer, washing machine, fridge, utility room. Dinning table, sleeping couch and fireplace. Opens to a large outdoor bougainvillea shaded terrace. Dining area for 12. Outdoor wood-burning oven.


Cleaning/Towels/Linen/Maid service:

Towels and linen changed twice a week. Daily maid service. Additional maid/babysitting service available at extra cost upon request

Accessibility: 20 steps to the house from main road. Not suitable for people with serious mobility problems.

Beautiful idyll close to it all!

Loved staying at the villa! It was the perfect size for our group of 5. A 10-minute walk to town and an even shorter walk to the water. Also Nopi, the housekeeper, is amazing!

Hydra Villa

The online listing did not fully describe the bedroom and bathroom situation. There is one nice bedroom with an adjoining bathroom. It has a queen bed. The other bedrooms are sub par. The bedroom with a king bed is essentially in the basement with only 1 small window. We had terrible water bugs in the king bedroom and bathroom our entire 10 day stay. Also, the water broiler went out on our second day. It was replaced the next day. The housekeeper was excellent. We would not stay at this house again. Also, 10 days is too long of a stay in Hydra. Recommend 4 to 5 days.

Exceptional Villa

This was our first trip to Greece and first stop on our trip beyond the crowds and noise of Athens. This property exceeded our expectations! First off it’s huge. Great location—could walk anywhere-In 15 mins. Just steps to a beach below the villa. Views were amazing and was very well appointed and furnished. The best part was the caretaker Nopi, she met us at the ferry with donkey’s ready upon arrival and met us at 6:30am with donkeys to go back to the port when leaving. She made breakfast and also got us some groceries. I’ve stayed at many VRBO properties and this is one of the finest we’ve stayed in.

A dream

Such sweet sorrow upon leaving! This has been one of the most fantastic and beautiful and restful time in our entire lives. Villa Francesca is a wonderful home, and gave us more than we ever dreamed. We cooked and walked and cooked and laughed and cooked such magnificent meals with Gypsy jazz on the Marshall bluetooth. And Nopi is a dream herself. We are looking for a property manager for our beach house and we may have to make her an offer! The bonus was the holiday parade portside - with Nopi’s marching grandchildren! We are already plotting our return. Truly, the finest home with the most beautiful vistas of navy blue and turquoise waters imaginable. Did I mention the herbs surrounding us? The orange and lemon and grapefruit and pomegranate trees to plunder every morning? (One part ouzo to one part fresh pomegranate juice to three parts sparkling water, with a fresh slice of green lemon is the perfect apertivo.) The fish bought right off the boat and grilled within minutes. The excellent kitchen with all-clad cookware and sharp knives is the antidote to crappy rental property kitchens. You’re just a minute or two from good tavernas, but who cares with such gorgeous ingredients all around you and a dream kitchen. Peace and thank you. - Ed, Lyn, Claude and Mary

Magical

Villa Francesca is a very special property. Beautiful terraces filled with jasmine and wisteria overlook the harbour of Kamini and the master bedroom must have one of the most spectacular views on Hydra. We are regular visitors and this is the best house we’ve rented by far. Is this a ‘super villa’ in the seamless, streamlined design you can find anywhere from Ibiza to Sydney? No, it is far more charming and original. This feels like staying in a friend’s house, with all the benefits of a well stocked kitchen and yet with a calming decorative restraint that is airy and relaxing. The sea is a very short walk away and our sunset swims were truly magical. Nopi, the housekeeper is very discreet and totally trustworthy. When I left a valuable piece of jewellery behind without realising, she immediately made contact and dropped it at my hotel. A fabulous week and very spoiling.

The pictures of the house are very good but being there was everything. It’s beautiful, artistic, sensual and comfortable. Nopi, the keeper of the house, met all of our needs. Truly a remarkable experience for all of us.

Absolutely stunning property with beautiful views out. Extremely helpful host and housekeeper too.

We were met off the ferry by the housekeeper who arranged for our bags to be taken by donkey to the property and everything else for the stay was made very easy. The property is beautifully set about 15 to 20 minutes walk from Hydra town and is lovely to be in and to look at - decorated simply but with fantastic taste The host, Christos, couldn’t have been more helpful with his suggestions for our visit and we are grateful for a really memorable stay. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful house, exactly as pictured and described

We very much enjoyed our stay at Christos' house. From the first contact he was pleasant, amenable and very easy to communicate with, answering questions efficiently and promptly. The house looks exactly like the photographs and both the interior and exterior spaces are lovely and very well cared for. The various terraces provide shade and views at different times of day and the garden is wonderful. The boat (available at a reasonable extra fee) is an added plus that makes exploring Hydra from the water easy and hassle-free. It is unusual to find such a gem of a house. Many thanks for a perfect stay.

Just back from the most fantastic week in Hydra staying in the most perfect house!!

Hydra is truly wonderful, beautiful in every way so for us to stay at the incredible Salt White house was just the icing on the cake!! Christos made everything so simple all through the booking and lead up to the holiday and was there whenever we needed help or advice. The house was beyond our expectations and made for a great home for 9 of us, aged between 12 and old! There was everything you could want whether it was space to relax and watch the sea and boats or get busy in the kitchen, watch a movie in the fabulous living room or snooze for an hour in the lovely bedrooms, the house has it all. It also has swimming in crystal clear sea just steps from the door, restaurants within a minute or two's walk, a little harbour next door or a fantastic walk along the sea edge into Hydra port where it was all going on. We will come back, there are not many things that are perfect but for us this was as close as it gets!!

An absolute dream!

What an absolute dream experience it was to stay at this beautiful property! So much so in fact that we are already planning our next stay in this very house and couldn't imagine staying anywhere else on the island. Christos is a magnificent host and the property is so well maintained, full of charm, and exudes beauty around every corner. We loved the proximity of the home to both the port and to Kamini. The walk to and from port was peaceful and often involved stopping for a swim at the many swimming spots right by the home. We felt at home from the moment we stepped off the boat and loaded our bags onto donkeys. The sunsets from the outdoor patio are magnificent. There is magic to this house and it will bring joy to whoever has the lucky opportunity to stay under its roof. Thank you Christos and Nopi for making this stay a memorable one. Staying in this house is what it means to experience life on Hydra: fresh food from the garden, terrific sea air and views, charming history within every room that unfolds. We will return many times in the future! <3

Unforgettable late summer experience in an amazing setting

Staying at Christos´ Villa Francesca was a truly magic experience for our group of friends coming together from all over the world to spend a week in each others company, in this beautiful house. We couldn´t feel more welcome and Christos made sure that everything was being taken care of and looked after. Wonderfully arranged with a local Hydra touch, the villa is tastefully furnished. Also, several terraces and windows face the amazing sea view. Every breakfast and sunset drink at the terrace was really spectacular. All in all, we all parted with an unforgettable experience and wish to return as soon as possible!

Paradise, litterally!

Christos welcomed us himself at the port and took us for a walk to the house while explaining everything we needed to know and showing us around. The house was perfect. Multiple rooms with multiple bathrooms so everyone can have his privacy. Great common spaces to share meals, sunsets, a drink, etc. All modern commodities available (A/C, netflix, modern bathrooms, oven, cuisine, coffee machine, etc) and great extras : diving flippers and goggles, high chair and crib for our toddler, plenty of bottled water already in the house. Christos was also so kind to ask if we wanted some groceries and got them for us, which was really appreciated. Temperature there is always hot and sunny, so no need to look at the forecast! Great restaurants around, within 5-10 minutes walk, and the port is approximately 15 min walk, Kamini literrally 5 min walk. Christos was super helpful to arrange for our transfer from airport to piraeus port and always available. We will consider going back to spend a whole week and enjoy /explore more the island, a well-kept gem!

This home and the entire island of Hydra are truly magical!

Hard to put into words how special this home is! Every room is decorated perfectly and all the furniture including the beds are so comfortable. It's like staying in a postcard, the view from every window is a dream. The kindness and hospitality extended from the owner Christos and the caretaker Nopi was so kind we felt like locals by the time we left. The most delicious taverna and perfect place to swim both 10 steps from the front door. All the food on the island was so fresh and delicious. The only decision to make is to walk 10 mins to the port or go by water taxi both extemely enchanting! Thank you Christos & Nopi!!!

Very beautiful original island house. Very warm character. very cosy.

Beautiful views, sunny terasses even in winter. Chimney in the kitchen. Comfortable rooms and beds. Very helpful and warm harter host and service by Nopi.

Charming house on Hydra , lovely location close to the sea

We recently stayed at this lovely old house on Hydra , it is a charming property , simply furnished , nice linens on beds , beautiful outside terraces , three to choose from and well located a ten minute walk from the harbour near Kamini . Christos was a pleasure to deal with from the start and very helpful with everything , Nopi the housekeeper looked after us well and greeted us from the boat with donkeys to take our luggage to the house . We ate many times at To Pefkaki which is 2 minutes walk from the house and for us the nicest place to eat on Hydra . We swam off the rocks just across the path from the house and really enjoyed the views to the sea from every window and eating under the bougainvillea on the terrace . My only criticism would be that it would be nice if more cupboard space was made available for guests and also that the owners personal items were cleared from the bathrooms , but other than this I would highly recommend this property , we had a wonderful time staying there , thank you Christos !

Amazing views, perfect setting and totally private!

We loved our stay, the views were sublime, the setting idyllic and the interior cool and inviting. Christos could not have been a more attentive host, making useful suggestions and offering insider tips about all aspects of our stay. The house itself was an oasis of calm; rustic but sophisticated and furnished with everything we could possible have needed. Having the boat was fantastic and allowed us to explore every inch of this beautiful island without getting over-heated and footsore and helped us find some wilderness corners to escape to. We'll certainly be back.

Excellent

Très jolie maison dans une situation exceptionnelle avec vue panoramique sur la baie d'Hydra, avec plusieurs terrasses. L'intérieur bien aménagé et bien équpé est agréable à vivre. Les chambres sont indépendantes, pourvues chacune d.une salle de bain. Le seul bémol, c'est le nombre de marches à monter pour y accéder.

Excellent stay in a wonderful oasis

We stayed two weeks in this property and appreciated the overall experience immensely. Starting with the first contact, the owner, Christos, was very helpful in describing and explaining the property, how to get to Hydra, suggesting good addresses for going out to eat, etc. When we arrived we were not at all disappointed with anything - the photos on the site are beautiful but you must see it in person to appreciate how nice it is with the beautiful view and lots of peace and quiet. The house is charming with lots of different spaces indoors and outdoors. But it also has the modern conveniences of air conditioning in the sleeping rooms, good internet connection and satellite TV. The weather was sunny and warm during our entire visit so we spent most of our free time on the covered terrace next to the kitchen - we think about the view all the time! The bedrooms and bathrooms were fine - lots of linens and very comfortable. We spent some time in the living room as well when it was too hot outside - big sofas, nice TV, air conditioning. One of the bathrooms is in the garden which was practical for rinsing off after a visit to the beach. The house is a short walk to the center of Hydra town - we appreciated being a little out of the center since it was much quieter than in town and that was what we were looking for. The closest swimming spot is just below the house, about 1-2 minute walk. But there are many places to jump in the sea all along the coast near Kamini and on the way into Hydra town. The best place we found to eat was actually the closest: To Pefkaki, on the path to Kamini port - only 2 minutes from the house. Great food and very nice hosts. One thing to note is that there are stairs up to the house and inside the house and between the terraces so it is not for people with mobility issues. But this is typical of every aspect of Hydra so I would say the entire island is not really for people with mobility issues. We highly recommend this property and thank Christos once again for a wonderful and memorable vacation on Hydra!
