Get ready to relax in this quaint one-bedroom private home on Harkers Island. Where once lived, Ms. Hilda Guthrie, the island matchmaker – funny enough, she never got married herself. The cozy home, originally built in the 60s with a couple updates since, is nestled in the heart of the Island. Whether you're unwinding after a day of exploring or enjoying a cool breeze on the porch.

This home has a lot of its original character, imperfect floors and doors. But it’s clean and ready for memories!

You'll be just around the corner from all the local hotspots. Billy's the local grocery store is just a walk or quick golf cart ride away (bring your golf cart with you). Be sure to get some of their fresh cut meats and hot breakfast sausage (our FAVORITE). Also, nearby is the Fish Hook Grill, Seaside Restaurant, and the Shark Island Eats food truck at the end of the island (Some places are only open seasonal). During your stay, be sure to schedule a day and take the ferry to Cape Lookout Lighthouse, see the Shackelford Banks Wild Horses, check out Sand Dollar Island, tour the Island and Small Waterfront of Beaufort, listen to the waves crash on Atlantic Beach, and take a tour of the famous Core Sound Waterfowl Museum. Lastly Don't forget to check out Chadwick Brothers Rentals to take a quick kayak around island and catch the magnificent sunsets. You can always relax at the Harkers Island Beach Access that is located right when get off the bridge onto the Island.

The quaint modern southern style decorating greets you at the driveway and is continued throughout the home. The Primary Bedroom suite offers a comfy Queen bed with attached bathroom and walk in shower. The cozy living room hosts a sleeper sofa and mini breakfast nook.

The front porch offers rocking chairs to catch a breeze.

The kitchen is stocked with all the cookware and dinnerware you'll need to enjoy your stay. The linens and towels are all sanitized with bleach to ensure top quality cleanliness.

Pets are an additional non-refundable fee of $149 per stay. Must be house trained. Let us know at booking if you have any pets.

This little cottage was very homey and quiet. A lovely place. Very clean and well put together. It is small but comfortable for 2 people. I would definitely recommend.

The house was in a great location for what we wanted to do. We had planned on spending 4 nights, but an issue arose and we had to leave after 2. We will be back again to try to get our entire time hopefully.

Had a wonderful time exploring the beach and the rest of the island while staying in this little house. It was just what we needed for relaxing in the evening after spending hours on the water. The host is very responsive and the accommodations more than generous.

Long weekend getaway

Great place for a quiet, relaxing time at the beach. We learned a lot about the history of the area at the museum and enjoyed the maritime museum in Beaufort. Delightful ferry out to the lighthouse.

House was considerably small then expected. The couch was in poor condition. There was no room to put suitcases other than in the floor which meant we were tripping over them. We had to go out and purchase a frying pan large enough to fix breakfast. Grill on back porch was so rusty and dirty, I could not use it.

Cozy Cottage

Our anniversary get away was exactly what we needed. The cottage was perfect for a couple to stay. Had a mishap with a busted pipe, but the owner was quick to respond and had it fixed same day and gave us a refund for the trouble for that day. The only thing that was uncomfortable was the shower that looked as if it was cracked before with a patch job, but was very soft to stand on so you had to stand awkwardly. But we managed and very much enjoyed our stay. Cody was very polite and we are grateful for them sharing their cottage at a reasonable price so we could have our get away. Check out in and out was very easy. We look forward to booking again.

Intimate and Cozy for my Wife and I. Our 6th anniversary. We wanted to get away somewhere that was peace and quiet. Harkers Island was it. It is located right in the middle of the island between two restaurants and seconds from the ferry terminal. Cape Lookout and Shackleford Banks We enjoyed sitting on the porch. Quiet Retreat

Small, cute cottage in a very quiet location. Many people just pass through Harker's Island to take the ferry to Cape Lookout, but it's lovely as a destination if you want tranquility and quiet relaxation.There was a problem with the check-in: house wasn't cleaned or accessible when we arrived a couple of hours after check-in time. However, the host immediately responded to our texts and very quickly made everything right.Very nice stay - we especially loved the Seaside Galley, a hidden gem of a "gas station restaurant" that serves absolutely delicious seafood, and the beautiful Sound Side Trail at the Visitor's Center (where you take the ferry). We'd love to return to the island and this property.

This place was our home base while we explored the south outer banks. The locals are super friendly (if you are) and will point you in the right direction for food, fishing spots, rock/tooth/shell hounding beaches, and anything else you could need or want. Cody was a great host and was super quick and helpful with communication. The home is small and looks well kept from the exterior, where there is a camera facing the driveway (we prefer this but I know not all do). The inside is cozy and clean but dog and human parents beware almost all the linens/towels/decorations are white ;) There was a scent plug in that we took out for the stay and put pack in before leaving, the house smelled perfectly normal without it. The kitchen had a standard fridge/freezer which was great for storing cooler stuff. We used the coffee maker and it made coffee 10/10. Used the back porch to hang up suits and towels overnight to dry which was nice. Other reviews already talk about the shower, it’s not great. Biggest issue was the bathroom door wouldn’t shut. I mean we tried about 70 different ways and then just gave up and played the tv loud when we had to poop. Literally the only mid thing about this place is the bathroom. So to all my hot girls with tummy issues… be warned. Both the pull out and bed were comfy. One linen that was pulled from the chest was a bit dirty with dog hair and a little mud (?) Overall we loved it, better than a hotel if you are like us and want to be tf away from people.

A nice house to stay in for one or two people. The house had many updates but was obviously a pretty old house. A good value for the money.

Hi Brad, I am glad you had a good trip but hate that your review was not 5 stars. As stated in the listing, I clearly stated that the home was built in the 60s as it is the old home of the old island Matchmaker and that it has "imperfect floors and doors, but is clean and ready for memories". I tried to keep as much as the original character as possible.
