Set back among the redwoods and brimming with plenty of rustic charm, this updated retreat offers a very private setting for you and your guests while still being conveniently close to a number of local attractions. Venture out a bit to discover several scenic parks including Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park and the Loch Lomond Recreation Area as well as the exciting city of Santa Cruz, home of the Kuumbwa Jazz Center and Neptune's Kingdom Family Entertainment Center, all less than 15 miles from your door.

Most everything inside this wonderful home has been updated including new hardwood floors, kitchen tiles, blinds, and more. Prepare all your favorite dishes in the well-equipped, full kitchen complete with a suite of stainless steel appliances to make meal prep a breeze! Dine together or play board games at the nearby dining table, and then relax in the main living area where you can enjoy forest views through multiple windows while you stream all your favorite TV channels using your own accounts.

Outdoors, dine or just relax and watch native birds in the trees from the privacy of your furnished deck or patio. You'll also find a gas grill here if you want to fire it up for a family cookout!

The Brookdale home was cozy and charming. Cabin was in a beautiful setting among the redwoods. Loved the two different fireplaces.Had some of the following items worked our stay would have been excellent.With NO air-conditioning the Master bedroom fan did not work. Temps had been in the 90s the week before.Nice stove but the oven did not work. No actual frying pan. A Mr. Coffee maker would have been nice. The Keurig is messy and unnecessary and is not for everyone. Two dish towels in the kitchen are not enough. A set of towels for two people for 3 nights are not enough. Wi Fi was terrible.

Serenity in the woods

Tranquil and super cute home - we loved hanging out on the patio and listening to and seeing the creek that's a stone's throw away. We truly enjoyed our stay. The only point to note is that it can be challenging to find your way in the dark the first time you arrive.

Perfect Place to Stay

Tranquil and such a cute home! The patio is awesome and where we spent a lot of our time listening to the creek flowing and enjoying the setting! Highly recommend this location.

Great house - missing a few details

Stayed for a full week in October – here’s the honest review. Pros: The house is in a beautiful area with easy check-in and check-out. Unlike many other rentals, the check-out doesn’t involve a long list of chores. The backyard is a highlight, with a creek you can hear from the patio. It’s close to several state parks, hiking trails, 30ish minute drive to the beach and Santa Cruz Boardwalk. The nearby town has a good selection of coffee shops, markets, restaurants, and larger grocery stores like Safeway and Target. The living area in the home is roomy with a well-sized kitchen, dining area, and large living room, plus there’s a fun selection of board games. There is a crockpot in the kitchen which is awesome for making meals while you are out on adventures. Cons: The kitchen and bathrooms lacked essentials. We had to buy hand soap for the bathroom and kitchen, as there was none provided, which should be a standard amenity. Only two washcloths were provided for the bathroom, this is not enough, especially without on-site laundry. Some extra bath towels were provided, but they felt damp upon arrival, so we did not end up using those. The bedroom has paper blinds, which don’t block much light. The closets in the house were locked, including the only one in the bedroom big enough to hang or unpack clothes. The bedroom is too small to not have a usable closet. There was no fire pit, although it’s shown in photos and mentioned in reviews. Instead, we found a dead squirrel in the backyard, which seemed to have been there a while. Also the neighbors dog seems to bark non stop. I know the rental owner cannot control this, just something to be noted. For a rental near the beach, there was minimal beach & outdoor gear – just two damp beach towels, no chairs, umbrellas, or cooler. Common items like a cheese grater, wine opener, and bottle opener were missing. I would not use the seasonings in the kitchen as they looked 15+ years old. Additionally, cleaning supplies (broom, mop) were inaccessible due to a locked closet, which made tidying up impossible. We were also given only two trash bags, which isn’t sufficient, for a week stay especially since California requires trash separation. Although they ask that guests don’t wear shoes indoors, there’s a nail sticking up from the floor in the entryway, making it hazardous to walk barefoot. Many of the lights didn’t work, and the layout of light switches was confusing, which was frustrating to deal with even after a week. There’s a pull-out couch, but there are no extra blankets and pillows. I honestly do not think four people would be able to stay comfortably in this house, especially with limited towels, and no laundry. Some outdoor furniture was dirty. Overall, would I stay here again, probably yes. It is a nice house, nice location and you can suffer through the cons for a few days. We were able to get early check in, which was nice. This place would be 5 starts if these details were addressed.

Very pretty location with lovely picture window overlooking the creek and redwoods. Comfortable bed. Quiet neighborhood. Well stocked kitchen except a wine opener is needed. Not their fault that Oct 2 was a 104 degrees but a workable A/C would have made it better. It did cool down at night so would still recommend this home.

This is the first time we have use VRBO and it was so easy. We totally loved the cabin and we will definitely be using VRBO again!

Wonderful Home!

Our family of four loved staying in this home! We especially loved the huge backyard with a creek running through it! We used the fire pit to make s'mores and roast hotdogs - like camping in the redwoods but with a kitchen! Perfection! The kitchen had a ton of dishes, gadgets, bowls - even a Brita for us to use! We would have liked a cookie sheet and a cheeses grater, but we made due just fine. The home is in a little neighborhood but it feels very private and secluded because of all the trees around it. The huge picture window and the lovely back porch were favorites for just sitting and watching the creek. We had an easy drive to the beach and to lots of hiking trails in Henry Cowell state park. This place was comfortable and had so many extras - we loved it and hope to come back!

Loved our stay!
