We do offer same day booking/arrival. Just sent me a message and we can arrange it!
We’re excited to have you visit the Mountain Pines Lodge. We take a lot of pride in the Lodge and are honored to have had it in Wrightwood's annual Holiday Home Tour. We ask that if you are looking for a quiet, clean, non-smoking and lovely respite, keep reading. If, however, you are in any way disrespectful, please do not consider us (really, I'm serious...I respect our home and neighbors). One night minimum midweek, but two night (Friday/Saturday or Sat/Sun) minimum for weekends. We are pet friendly ($25 per dog). Price is based on groups of six. Each additional guest above the 6th would be $25 per night.
The Lodge is only a three block walk to the center of town and only a couple of blocks from some wonderful hiking. It is on a very quiet block with no neighbors.
This two level property is completely fenced in to keep your well trained and loved traveling companions (kids or dogs) safe. Amenities: I am putting a lot of effort into purchasing USA built furniture for the whole cabin. At this point I'm at about 90%! We have a fully stocked kitchen. The living room has two seating areas. There is also a faux fireplace and a flat screen tv (no cable or satellite) with DVD player. There is also a "kid space" with Lincoln Logs, Thomas the Train, and other toys. The master bedroom has a beautiful log king sized bed set as well as a Pack & Play in the closet. There’s a full bath off the master bedroom. There is another full newly remodeled bathroom between the secondary bedroom (queen bed) and living room. The huge downstairs room has a queen (Aspen Lodgepole) and three log twin beds (two hand built from Edilwild one from Big Bear), and a full lodgepole sofa and lodgepole bar stools and table. Get some fresh air on the front porch while relaxing on the rocking chairs or Wrightwood made log furniture. Relax on the ski chair swing in the front yard. The property is surrounded by a chain link fence with plenty of room for the kids and dogs to run and tables and chairs for outdoor dining as well as a charcoal barbeque. The back yard has a shaded deck with a custom built ski fence (I was the brains, my husband was the brawn!).
This time of year the hiking is amazing; just walk up Walnut, turn right on Linnet and just keep walking. Or, when you get to the Methodist Camp, walk through the camp, hugging the mountain, until you get to the levee and then follow the quiet of the frozen stream. You'll find a variety of beautiful pine cones and collect some rare actinolite, a mineral only found in a few places on earth! You might see a deer on your hike. Let the dogs run loose and enjoy their freedom on the levee. I have a great friend up the street who will be happy to lead you on a hike or snowshoeing and tell you all about what you are seeing.
Play board games, read (I have dozens of books at the lodge. If you start one, take it home with you!) or bird watch. On Memorial Day weekend walk around town to the over 100 yard sales! The third weekend of August is the popular antique auto show. You'll also get your fill of lemonade and cookie stands that abound in the summer!
We have a Weber charcoal barbeque for you to use. Bring your coals, meat or tofu burgers and grill up a storm! There is also the amazing Wrightwood built log furniture outside on which you can enjoy your outdoor meals.
Walk to town (a 3 block 7 minute walk) and do a little shopping. You'll find restaurants, gift shops, antique stores, market, bakeries, and ski shops.
It is a three mile drive to Mountain High Ski Resort. A few more miles and you'll be at Grassy Hollow visitor center. The Pacific Crest Trail will host thousands of hikers walking from Mexico all the way to Canada!
Mountain High is a quick drive up the highway for skiing, snowboarding and tubing in the winter. Mountain biking (my husband loves the challenging trails) and hiking in that area is a real treat in the Spring and Summer. Motorcyclists love Hwy 2. My husband swears it's some of the premier riding in the nation. Wrightwood really is an amazing, relaxing vacation spot!
The kitchen is fully stocked and is ready for some of your fabulous cooking! There is a market in town, Jensons (it’s pricey, but well stocked) where you are able to purchase any food you might need. However, if you want a break from cooking there are some wonderful restaurants in town. Many of them are dog friendly (DF). Start your day at Cinnamon's Bakery and Sandwich shop...cannot be beat! The Blue Ridge Inn is the nicest if you are looking for prime rib or fresh seafood. Most of their entrees are around $25 with salad and fresh bread (if you go there, please tell them Arlene sent you; I used to waitress there!). Their pumpkin bread is amazing! There is also a Mexican Restaurant, Mexico Lindo (prices around $7-12 each) that has excellent food. For breakfast, the Evergreen cafe has fabulous pancakes and the Village Grind (DF) has delicious breakfasts as well (they also have 24/7 WIFI service) and often has live music going. The Grizzly Cafe, on Hwy 2, has the best sweet potato fries around and very good sandwiches. You will love the lodge motif! Mile High Pizza (DF) has a great variety of pizzas and other Italian dishes (and they deliver!). Ask them about their $3.00 off a large counter coupon. The Yodeler is a bar/restaurant that is also DF, dog friendly. I guarantee you, you will not starve in Wrightwood!
I will be happy to provide any additional information you might need. Please do not hesitate to contact me.
