We enjoyed the beach and the view, bathroom somewhat too small. Well stocked.

10 Stars!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful, amazing location! You can see the lake from nearly every room. Weber charcoal grill, well-outfitted kitchen. We cooked nearly every night, so the kitchen, while small, was functional. The only thing I'm not sorry to see the end of is the tiny bathroom.

But the views! I whimpered every time I looked out of the window. Really - ask my husband. Fires on the beach, which was just down the stairs, and, while the beach was public, we saw very few people. Close to Marquette, and we got AT&T cell reception, which we never got staying in Au Train.

While I'm not sure it would work well for more than a couple, we'd definitely stay again. Thanks so much!

Fabulous vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a blast at this cabin. It is in a beautiful location. We watched the lake on stormy days from the inside, and took a few steps down to the beach to enjoy the water on sunny days. The owners thought of everything. You have a birthday? There are birthday candles in the drawer. You hate flies? We have three fly swaters. Want to roast marshmallows? Roasting sticks, firewood, lighter fluid and lighters are here - use the grill or light a beach fire (we did it all!) Tons of cooking utensils, Lawry's seasoning in the drawer (because, let's be real, if you are not cooking with Lawry's, you are not doing it right!!!!) We tried to find things to complain about, and we could not. Yes, the bathroom is small and the rooms are tiny. But you are not doing it right if you are spending all of your vacation time in a room. There are extra sheets in the couch which reclines, so go sleep there if you need more room. The beach is amazing. We were missing a pizza pan to cook our delicious Papa Murphy's takeout pizza, and some toilet paper (running out without warning is no fun - so bring extras). There are tiki torches for mosquitoes, firewood for inside and outside, perhaps an extra blanket would be nice, but that is all minor. Seriously - if the weather is great, enjoy the beach. If the weather is not so much, bring some board games and enjoy the stormy lake from the inside with a beautiful view.

Be ware of the flies that are worse than mosquitoes (we did get chased off the beach one day because they were unbearable). If that happens - take the opportunity to go to town to the Vierling Brewery (make reservations if you do not want to wait for 2 hours!) or grab a yummy bite at Huron Bakery. Tons of things to do, and on a budget this cottage is amazing. We are planning to come back next year - we loved it! Thanks for a great place, Paul!

Cozy!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 stayed here (with permission from Paul to have 6) in August 2014 and I thought we already reviewed. As others have mentioned it is a small lake house. The pictures are exactly what you get, and the location is amazing! The view is spectacular. Even the day the wind whipped thru & the whitecaps rolled in the view was breathtaking. We were very comfortable there. There is NO wasted space, and no doors, other than the bathroom. So if you need a lot of privacy or want to spread out this property is not for you. It feels like your own secluded beach paradise, yet it was close enough to Marquette to be downtown in just a few minutes. We cannot wait for an opportunity to come back!

Owner's Response: Wow, that is so nice of you to take the time and write a very thoughtful and honest review, well after your stay. The beach house must have left a very good impression for you to be thinking of us in this very cold spring. Thank you!!! We have had many, many guest that have loved our little cabin on the beach and said they would write a positive review. But I get it, people get busy with life and the demands for time increase after vacation so most times reviews don't follow. So, thank you again, we appreciate your review and are so glad you enjoyed your stay.

This cabin is accurately described in the listing. Yes, it is small and there is very little storage...as is described. It is located steps from Lake Superior and the panoramic view is absolutely incredible! We watched gorgeous sunsets every evening and saw Meteor showers almost every night. Our 3rd night at the cabin we saw the Northern Lights at 1:00am. It has been several years since I've seen them and I was thrilled that my husband and daughters were able to see them with me! What a great surprise! Breath taking views of the sunrise and 2 perfect spots for campfires. Great location for beach walks or trips to Munising or Marquette. Brownstone Inn for Whitefish is a must!

Incredible views, it is small.

  • 2 of 5

Stayed at the cottage last summer for a week (2014) Views are amazing, Milky Way at night, incredible sunsets. Downside: very limited storage, kitchen too teensy to cook in. No closets, and no doors on the bedrooms, which means zero privacy. Easy access into Marquette, great place to stay for sightseeing. I would consider this cottage again if I was traveling solo.
