2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Riverfront Chalet
Kevin & Barbara Hanville
About Kevin & Barbara Hanville
Our family spent years camping. We always hoped to get one of the camp sites next to the creek at Vogel State Park so we could relax to the sounds of the rushing water. That rarely happened… As my wife and I grew older, we got tired of the walk to the communal bathroom, lousy showers, lack of privacy, and the not so great sleep in the camper. As our kids grew older, the allure of sleeping in a tent with no WiFi faded so we set out in search of the next best thing that allows us to enjoy all of the outdoor benefits of camping, but with all the comforts of home. We found it at River Run!
Kevin & Barbara Hanville purchased this Chalet in 2013
Why Kevin & Barbara Hanville chose Murphy
We chose this property because it is very unique and you will not find another like it to rent. The two chalets allows for all to enjoy the family vacation. The Trout House is designed like a giant game room with beds. It includes WiFi, Ping Pong, and air hockey. Got a moody teenager with friends who want their privacy? Or want to play their music to loud? Or want to watch something different on TV? No problem! The Trout House is the perfect kid’s getaway while you enjoy the peace and relaxation of the Country House. They are happy and you are happy! Perfect!
What makes this Chalet unique
The two chalets offer something for all members of the family. The property is located at the end of a mile long dirt road on a level 1 acre fenced lot. You can rent one or both chalets depending on your needs. The covered wrap-around metal roofed porches are just feet from the Nottely River. You can fish, hike, go antiquing, sit by the fire and listen to the river, BBQ on the outdoor grill, watch the cows graze across the river, or just sit on the porch in the rockers and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Nottely River.

Peaceful and remote
We had a wonderful time and wish we could have stayed longer. We were on a Smokey Mountain tour and only had 3 days to stay in Murphy. The cabin was new and clean and we loved having coffee and breakfast every morning sitting right on the river in the small pavilion/gazebo. The couple staying in the neighboring cabin were nice and we enjoyed visiting with them. We also loved the little town of Murphy. It was pretty and we were there for the 4th of July to enjoy their lovely fireworks show. We found everyone we came in contact with to be very friendly and helpful.
Loved this riverfront tranquil chalet. The chalet was well appointed, very clean, and perfect for anyone wishing a quiet secluded break away from the hustle bustle of the big city. The sounds of the rushing waters were soothing and both the sitting porch and covered river overlook perfect places to read or simply contemplate. Even the major thunder/lightning storm we had the first of the three nights we were there did nothing to "dampen" the experience. In fact quite the contrary. The flashes of lightning illuminating the sky and the scenery around the chalet were exhilarating. Inside the two bedrooms were nice size and beds in both quite comfortable. Firewood was provided and both the tv and wifi brought a touch of civilization that overcame the feeling of seclusion that this location over a mile off a paved road and virtually in the middle of nowhere could bring. My daughter and her husband took the occasion to visit Murphy and found it charming and to their delight, with a Walmart for the items they sought. My wife and I had no intentions of leaving this setting it was so peaceful. While it was an experience, tubing as fishing was on the agenda. But for the most part, this is a setting to relax, read, nap, play cards or games maybe, and just a perfect get-away from it all. We recommend it enthusiastically for seniors like us, or families alike.
The property was beautiful and well kept.
We really enjoyed our stay. The property was secluded and very peaceful. My husband and I went there for a quick getaway for my birthday.
We went for our anniversary. We thoroughly enjoyed the accommodations and amenities. It would have been nice to have our own fire pit than sharing. Another family had the chalet next door & did not participate in sharing. Otherwise, great place and will definitely consider renting again!
We loved it as always. Been coming to same place about twice a year for about three years now. Always hard to leave.
Wonderful and romantic
We loved the cabin & property. Everything was wonderful and lots was provided there, we want to come back for sure. Only thing we didnt realize before hand is that there are 2 properties on one yard so the outdoor amenities are shared and theres not as much as privacy as i wanted. But the neighbors werent loud or anything to complain about.
