About Michele and Dave

Outdoor lovers, we love to hike, kayak, bike-ride and enjoy fresh moutain air. One of us, loves to jump in the 'refreshing' lake, while the other likes to bring the dogs to the dog beach and let them jump in. One of us loves to read outside on the deck while the other devises 'epic' hikes to talk her into. One will go out skiing while the other will relax by the fire and they will both think they have the better deal! Our vision is to have many happy memories exploring this beautiful area and sharing it with our family, friends and especially our grandchildren. We hope you will too!

Michele and Dave purchased this house in 2011

Why Michele and Dave chose Tahoe Island

The Y location, close to grocery shopping, the beaches and hiking trails is this property's draw. Growing up, trips to Tahoe were more about the parents going to the casinos and I spent many hours pushing my cousin who was a Vietnam Vet through them. Now, with casinos throughout California, Tahoe's real appeal is its alpine location, the incredible lake and the numerous new outdoor activities (rock climbing, parasailing, gondolas, outdoor concerts and plays, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, and even ziplining. Luckily, our location allows access to the beaches with a easy bike ride which serves a dual purpose, exercise and saving parking fees. We provide two (hopefully four soon) bikes which is a tremendous cost savings in itself and really convenient for avoiding the traffic to the beaches and consequent parking fees. It is pet friendly so you don't have to leave your best friend behind or pay those kennel fees and the one story floorplan makes it easy to navigate for seniors or anyone who just hates stairs. And if you like to dance, gamble, or people watch, the casinos are a quick 15 minute drive away.

What makes this house unique

Sitting on the outside front deck in the summer; biking to Richardson's beach and listening to music while sunbathing or swimming in the largest alpine lake in the United States. Some people feel you have to camp to get close to nature, but with this rental, you can have it all. Hike Mt. Tallac and enjoy awe-inspiring views or meditate by gazing at the blue crystal clear waters of Lake Tahoe while letting your dogs enjoy the dog-friendly beach.

Perfect comfy get away

Nice accommodations. Good location. Everything you needed to feel at home.

Owners were responsive with fencing issue.

If you are renting with your pets make sure the backyard fence has been replaced and area is secured.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much, Karen, for informing us the the fence was down and working with us as we determined that the new neighbors were replacing that side. We were as surprised as you. I agree that when you are letting your dogs in any yard that you should do a perimeter check because you never know what you might find, especially in the mountains! We are truly sorry for any inconvenience caused you. That side will be secured before any other guests go up, if it isn't already.

Enjoyable Birthday Celebration

The open floor plan was great for our family to all be together comfortably. All necessities were provided. Owners checked on us because of a possible outage on the TV. Close to many fun activities in area. A wonderful time was had by all!

Location of property was perfect

Gave us an opportunity to connect with a local realtor to find our own place to update

1 1/2 hour from Reno driveway to this area!

Owner's Response: We are in a quandary regarding how to respond to this unusually low review since the guests gave no indication of problems while they were occupying. We did give them the opportunity to replace a lost key instead of charging them and found that a screen door had been knocked off its runners after they left (our next guest discovered it). We pride ourselves on providing a rental of value and comfort as noted by other guests. When a review is low without any specific detail, we can only surmise that it reflects more on the type of tenant than the house quality. It is also confusing to have the time from Reno to Tahoe noted. We are more than happy to address specific flaws or concerns, if possible,. Unfortunately, this review is short on detail and rather confusing to us based on our communication with the guests.

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Michele and David have a home that is well loved and we appreciated that. Checkin went smoothnessly. Were we able to get our keys right after we pulled in. There isn't a front door per se because it's a sliding glass door. There is patio on the porch with seating for 5 and it allowed us to enjoy our morning coffee . The kitchen has all the amenities one could think of. We were able to prepare many meals here. Dining room sits 6. Flat screen Tvs in each room was nice as well. Loved the gas stove. The beds were incredibly comfortable and we slept soundly. There was a bright having a party outside when we first arrived and were concerned about how late they may be entertaining but to our relief the party ended at a decent hour. Sunday the street was quiet. The only thing we noticed when we first arrived was the back door with the sliding screen was broken. The screen door was not attached on the rail. It was propped against the sliding door. We attempted to fix it but were unable to do so. It is easy to see that the owners very much enjoyed their time here. The bicycles, pool toys and beach chairs. Very hospitable owners. Thank you for allowing us to spend some time in a home that was well loved.. the kids and I had a wonderful time. The highlight was riding the bikes around the streets

Good Value

  • 5 of 5

We had 6 people stay and we all were pleased with the accomodations. The outside may not be the most attractive but the interior was very clean and met all of our needs. The owners were very responsive to our questions and we really had no issues. I would stay there again and would recommend it to anyone looking for comfortable accomodations, a full kitchen, without paying 5-star hotel prices.

Memorial May 2017 short getaway trip

  • 5 of 5

it was a perfect getaway for few days, the cabin was within walking distance from everything (restaurants, grocery stores, in a quiet neighborhood). I couldn't asked for more, the cabin was as expected, clean with homy feel to it and the rental fees was affordable. My husband, our dog Kobe had a wonderful time, we hiked, checked out the lake, watched movies and truly enjoyed the fresh air in Tahoe.

I would rent it again from Michele and would recommend it to anyone who's looking for an affordable, cozy home for a few days.
