Hale Laule’a was such a special place to stay. The grounds and ocean setting are even better in person. One of our favorite things was to stroll through the different gardens each day and just take it all in. The carriage house was just the right size for us and well appointed with everything we needed. We loved eating meals or playing cards out on the covered lanai and visiting with all the souls that were on the property. Jennifer and Chad were wonderful hosts and we really enjoyed our conversations with them. A true delight to stay here.

We really enjoyed staying in the carriage house. The property grounds were amazingly beautiful! We enjoyed walking to the point with a beautiful view, swimming in the pool, and sitting in chairs relaxing on the grounds.

This property is beautiful. Well thought out and peaceful. Walking around the grounds puts you into a state of relaxation. The apartment was clean, well appointed, and comfortable. We loved sitting on the lanai, sipping coffee or a cocktail depending on the time of day. Chad and Jennifer were wonderful hosts. We were staying when lala came through the island, they made us feel safe and went above and beyond to keep us comfortable.

Chad and Jennifer were away during our stay but Bill and Susie greeted us warmly and were very helpful throughout our stay. They provided a thorough tour at the beginning of our stay.Incredible location, beautiful views, we loved the property. They encourage you to enjoy the property. We enjoyed eating outside at our own outdoor table. Very clean, up to date, modern. Lovely shower. Hope to return some day.

We had a wonderful stay at Chad and Jennifer's cottage. The hosts were welcoming, the cottage was clean, the spacious grounds were well kept and had beautiful ocean views. Falling asleep to the sounds of waves and waking up to birds made our vacation relaxing and rejuvenating. Mahalo!

Beautiful, peaceful place

We spent 5 nights here and absolutely loved it! The property is just as Chad and Jennifer described in the listing. The views are incredible and the location is close to so much! We have already recommended this property to family and friends. If you are looking for a place on the eastern side of the island, don’t skip this one.

We had an absolutely wonderful 4 nights stay at Chad and Jennifer’s cottage. They are detail oriented, welcoming hosts and treated us with respect and kindness. The cottage is very clean and was comfortable for the 3 of us. We cooked our breakfast every morning and enjoyed sitting at lanai outside. The grounds are breathtaking, you can tell the owners put such heart and soul into creating this amazing place. I like to watch the show “The most extraordinary homes in the world”on Netflix, and I do believe this place should be on that list. We are honored to have spent time there and hope to go back someday. Mahalo!

This is a beautiful expansive property in an amazing setting that includes verdant cliffs overlooking the ocean. I stayed in an attached room with private bath and then in a separate cottage with its own kitchen/living room. In each instance the rooms were clean, nicely decorated, well lit, with comfortable beds, and included all amenities one could want. As a solo traveler, I felt very comfortable coming and going day and night given the security system, and was delighted to find a fantastic 25 meter lap pool, with views of the nearby ocean, available any time. Hosts Chad and Jennifer were among the best I’ve encountered. Their hospitality included inviting me to join them and their granddaughter to drive up to the active volcano Kilauea. Location is ideal, not far north of Hilo and in reasonable driving distance from Honokaa frather north and Waimea. If you decide to stay there you are sure to enjoy it.

Oceanfront Paradise

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Jennifer, who took the time to walk us through the property, and go over the ins and outs of visiting their oceanside paradise. We immediately felt right at home.The carriage house was beautifully appointed, blending comfort and style perfectly. The living area/kitchen opened up to a patio that had views of the ocean, creating the ideal spot for morning coffee. The property’s location was perfect—within walking distance to Hakalau Beach and a short drive to Akaka Falls State Park. Jennifer and Chad were outstanding hosts. Not only were we greeted upon arrival but they also shared great local tips on nearby restaurants and activities. Their warm hospitality made us feel welcomed and secure, and were always just a text away if we needed anything during our stay.Overall, this vacation rental exceeded our expectations in every way. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable retreat.

True Paradise within Paradise!

We could not have imagined a better place, location and host to stay with for our trip to the Big Island. Chad and Jennifer are truly inspiring hosts who love their island, what they've built and sharing it with others.The location is private but close to the main roadway to get to anywhere you need to. Hilo is a quick drive with lots to do and Volcano National Park is a wonderful, bucket-list visit.We stayed in the Carriage House and it was perfect. Everything we needed was there. The perfect view of the horses in the yard and the ocean just beyond them with perfect sunrise views were there. Comfort, cleanliness and character were there. The property is truly unique and worth the stay in itself. We enjoyed taking our morning walks, greeting the loving dogs (give Sage a pet for me), and wandering the grounds seeing the inspiring views, beauty and care within its boundaries.There isn't enough to write about our stay here. It truly was special and something we will hold dear for a long time to come. We hope to make it back and see this incredible place and island very soon!

A "Bucket List" stay

At check out my wife and I never felt so relaxed or free of life's stressors. Chad's intro was excellent and so informative. Both he and Jennifer want you to have an excellent stay and truly roll out the red carpet. The grounds as mentioned by previous guests, has gardens and views that are just spectacular. The location was secure and serene. Everything you would want to see on the Big Island is easy driving distance. Chad and Jennifer are so knowledgeable and made great suggestions for us. We had the BEST food, so much better in quality, quantity and pricing than the "other" side, lots of restaurant choices. This was our 5th trip to the island, we stayed week 1,North of Kona and week 2 here. Lots of consignment, thrift stores, Macy's, Walmart, Ross, TJ Maxx, Farmer's markets, Fair's, vintage items and shopping in general. Don't miss the Zoo, that was free and really fun. Many hiking trails and museums. A must stop is the Lyman Museum. There is even a lunch bag with built in ice packs in the freezer! Did I mention chocolates at check in? We have been to all the islands and thought this would be our last trip to the Big Island. We were wrong... this is now our "go to" Hawaii destination.

We loved our stay at this beautiful spot! The apartment was comfortable and peaceful. Seeing the view every morning was spectacular and the animals on the property were a pleasant addition for us. Would come back in the future for sure!
