Perfect family getaway spot

We really loved our stay in this home! There was a group of 10 of us (6 adults, 4 children ranging in age from toddler to 12) and this property had everything we were looking for. Bedrooms set up on each floor, plenty of bathrooms, fun game room for the kids and the lovely hot tub. Having the club rec center nearby was great for the indoor pool and basketball for the kids. About a 15 minute drive to shops and restaurants. Really pretty location, especially in the winter with the snow.

Guys get away

Friends since high school, we get together a couple times a year, started when we were 50, 67 know, so 18th yr. VRBO is great! We can choose our location, amenities, local attractions, cook in or eat out. Galena is a great location, with lots to do in Galena and Dubuque.

Weekend with Friends

As previously stated the beds are hard in this house. However, the place is well stocked with itrms you would need. The hot tub was clean. The screened in porch was wonderful for fresh air. There was plenty of space for us and our dogs. There are a few updates that could be done but overall a nice place to stay!

8 of us stayed here; we thought it was great. The tub in the upstairs bathroom is VERY slippery. We had to buy a grab bar which helped a lot... There are a few non slip dots on the bottom but not enough..

Great Price!!

Very nice house for that price. Could have been a little cleaner(dusting top shelves may help a lot)Kitchen is very small, don't have enough countertop space and the microwave standing in very bad place.Staircaise railing its very dangerous for kids it should be safer.(not recommend for people with small kids) Overall the whole house is nice place to stay, not too far from city and skiing area. Ill recommended that place for my friends.

Love the territory unfortunately not this house

We've been staying in the territory over 10 years. Very disappointed in this stay. Upstairs tv did not work, the fire pit area was very muddy, the hammock was very dirty, no lights on the stairs outside very hard to see, refrigerator was not cold.

Pictures were deceiving

The house was very worn and not well taken care of. Carpeting was very dirty. Even bathroom throw rugs were not clean. Downstairs basement bathroom had a leak in the ceiling. I rook pictures it was obviously there for some time. Some electrical outlets were loose and pulled away from wall not accurately secured. Kitchen was very small with little counter space. I have been coming to Galena for 30 years and always have rented homes. Unfortunately this was one of the worst.

An almost perfect getaway

Our family was excited to get away to the beautiful Galena area and looked forward to a home away from home to enjoy some much needed down time. The home was great space for 9 adults and teens to enjoy games and time together. We found the home clean and the amenities to be wonderful. The hot tub was a nice perk and access to the club house was awesome! While I typically do not like to leave any negative review at all (because I feel so many aspects of a stay are personal preference and not owner fault) I find that I have to mention the horrible beds in the home. I had read a previous review before booking about the poor state of the beds but truly felt that this was subjective and how bad can they actually be. Unfortunately, we found out the hard way. While the bunk beds for the kids were comfortable and in great shape, the adult beds were bricks... so much so that we actually woke up both days very sore and left at 6:30 a.m. on our final day because none of us could sleep due to the bedding. Everything about the house and the stay was perfect minus two very poor nights of sleep. If the bedding were to be changed we would make this a regular getaway location but until that happens this is a generous 4 star review from a very tired renter.

Great area but house needs attention

We last minute planned a weekend away as the kids had a long weekend off school and we love the Galena area. A lot of snow was in the forecast and we were excited for sledding! The fact that this house allowed our furry family member to come along and that there was a hot tub was a wonderful bonus!! When we arrived about 5pm we were thankful the driveway had been plowed as it had snowed earlier about 6inches the day before. Unfortunately, the staircase had not been cleared of snow so that was the first thing my husband had to do after driving 3 hours. We ate dinner at the house and proceeded to use the hot tub. It didn’t smell of chlorine which prompted us to call/email our point of contact from the Evolve agency which manages the property. They called back and said the hot tub had been serviced that week so we thought it safe to use. We were wrong. Now my 13 yr old son is dealing with a case of severe hot tub folliculitis. Look it up. It’s gross and comes from an unsanitary hot tub. The house itself needs new beds, bedding, towels, etc. A waste of a lot of money. But at least we had fun sledding.

Holiday Hang

We stayed for 2 nights with another family. 9 people and 2 dogs. Most of the group went skiing at Chestnut Mountain, just a short drive away. We really liked being able to bring our dogs. Communication with the owner was easy. Towels and linens were provided, and the kitchen had what we needed to prepare meals. There weren’t enough kitchen table chairs despite having plenty of room around the table for more seating. We just pulled some porch chairs inside to make it work. It’s winter so we didn’t get to take advantage of the fire pit outside, but the hot tub was a special treat for the kids and it was a bonus that it was a bit protected by the upper deck. The home was a little pricey in my view because the beds weren’t very comfortable and the home needs some updating. But overall it served its purpose and we had a great time.

Birthday weekend

I rented this house for my daughter’s 21st birthday. We walked in and instantly fell in love great location tons of room loved the hot tub. We went during living windows and the luminaries so it was super busy but this little place was a nice getaway. I’ve already decided that we’re going to book again next year and include more family and friends.

Nice neighborhood

We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable and safe-feeling neighborhood home. Good accommodations and nice big dining room table for playing games. Hot tub was a nice feature too!

The outside light did not work, The inside of the house was not as clean as I would expect.

There was no outside light that worked. The dinning table was dirty. The grill has to be cleaned before we grilled on it. There were 7 people in my family that came. We had 3 full or queen bed plus 2 bunk beds that were very uncomfortable. We loved the area and want to come back but will look for a different place. I felt I left it cleaner then when I checked in.

I did a weekend getaway here with family. We enjoyed our stay. The location was peferct. Plenty of room and space. The firepit at night was very nice as well as the hot tub.

Good Galena Territory option or families

Good space for families. 4 room total on three levels (1 full bath on each level). One of the upstairs rooms had 2 bunk beds which gave my girls options. Kitchen was well equipped. Had fun in the game room, the great fire pit area and the best was the hot tub. Was able to reserve time in the pool through Chris (evolve vac rentals). My only concern was the cleaning, especially outdoors. It was unfortunate since the group that left before us left empty cans all the way into into the forest. To be fair, Chris said he’d send someone by, but I didn’t want my already short quarantine trip cramped with people cleaning outside. Note that there is both an electric and a charcoal grill for cooking out doors.

Holiday hideaway.

We stayed here over Thanksgiving. Six adults had plenty of room. We even cooked a traditional thanksgiving dinner! We did bring our own casserole dishes. Kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans in various sizes but holiday cooking is so extra. We are looking forward to returning next summer to enjoy the fire pit and outdoor deck and patio, hot tub was a huge hit. Highly recommend.

Nice House - Needs Some TLC

We had a great time at this rental for a girls weekend getaway. The house is great for a larger group--plenty of room and common space to hang out. All of the outdoor space and fire pit area is great. We had some issues with the overall cleanliness of the house and the condition of furniture and appliances. The kitchen especially was a little dirty. Glasses and silverware weren't put away clean, and that's probably because we found out the dishwasher doesn't work. It also leaks, so with that out of commission made doing dishes for 9 people a real chore Other things we noticed were just a lot of wear and tear on the furniture and little things like that. Just needs a deep clean and a walk through for little repairs and it would be perfect.

Great Overall

Girls weekend. Great place for adults but not kid friendly. Good beds. Clean. Needs updating - coffee maker super slow, dishwasher smelled and dishes in cupboard not clean. New coffee maker, microwave and dishwasher needed!

Great Property to Rent

This was a great property to rent. The place had everything we needed and then some. The location was perfect, only a short drive to downtown Galena. Many activities near by. The owner was easy to communicate with and provided assistance when needed.
